I was thrilled to support a small business during the Covid-19 stay at home period. I don't even like posting this. But I am doing so in the interests of helping other families avoid wasting money. Their 5# bag of broccoli was BAD. It smelled like a decomposing animal. I washed 1/4 of the contents of the large sealed plastic bag just a couple of days after picking it up. The smell was awful. I went outdoors for a half hour to walk my dogs and returned to an entire house that smelled like a dead animal. I threw it all away. The quantity of their $30 box was equivalent to what I can buy at Giant for half that price. Bad produce frosts me! Avoid this seemingly good idea.

I arrived half an hour after opening and it was crowded. Long lines for people using WIC vouchers. Most of the produce tags were written with their Spanish names. Some produce had no price tags and I didn't want to stand in line without knowing the prices. I had to ask about the fresh mushrooms that were $5/$8 depending on the size of the carton. There were food booths selling stuff like pupusas for $3 a piece. No entertainment on my visit. It's nice to know their is a place for people to use WIC for fresh fruits and veggies. The only fruit I saw was apples and small plums. Even though Yelp lists the address as University Ave, it's actually on Ann Street and you can't enter off University Ave. I had to backtrack and weave through the neighborhood (with the help of my map app) and find Ann St again to park a block away. Next time I will know better!

If you are in the university you can come out form your office on a weekday and buy some groceries and support local businesses. It's only open on Wednesday from 11:00-15:00. Produce like Thai Basil, and Thai Eggplant. I traveled to 3 stores in the area trying to find the Eggplant. They have rows and rows of Asian sauces, curries, etc. I highly recommend if you do a lot of Thai cooking and want that authentic taste.

Honestly, I can't say I've had anything bad yet. They also have some of the brands you recognize as well. This store is clean, well organized and I've had positive experiences with the employees here. I've been to another Aldi location and I can't say all of those same things. Rarely have I purchased food items from here. I was here today ad I noticed a family-sized frozen pizza on sale for $5.85 so I got that. Peanut butter was also incredibly low at less than $2. The Peligrino water that I like was nowhere in sight. They had generic Italian mineral water which isn't my thing. There is no deli here nor any deli sandwiches. This store is small and I really wish that they would do is less on random junk like children's diaries and more on the things people actually need like food!
