We did not initially select the Lot or the specific elevation. However, we were informed that our initial lot and elevation selections would not be available within our timeframe, so we proceeded with the preplanned home. We moved forward and signed the contract on 6/1/21. Our slab was poured 9/11/21, at which time we were told that the completion date may slip to late November but were assured by the Richmond American team that we would be in our new home by Christmas noting that "Richmond American needs to close on homes by end of year." The following week we were informed in writing that the trusses had been delivered and we were still on track to close by November/December. By early-October both of our points of contact, Sales Associate and Construction Manager, were no longer with Richmond American Homes. our new Sales Associate informed us that the house is now estimated to be completed in March, April, or even as late as May. The delays and miscommunication up to that point had been frustrating and disheartening. But what is offensive is the misrepresentation that the initial lot and elevation selections which we were dissuaded from buying (because they would be completed after the home ) are already complete. Simply put, we do not feel that we have been dealt with honestly, fairly, or in good faith by Richmond American Homes.

The fixtures are even worse--they look and function like builder-grade products chosen solely to cut costs. What concerns me most is that I was charged for what I believed were new appliances, yet several appeared to be refurbished or previously used, including the HVAC system. If you're paying for a brand-new home, you should receive brand-new, properly installed components--not equipment that raises questions about its condition and longevity. For the price of these homes, I expected far better craftsmanship, higher-quality materials, and greater transparency. Unfortunately, my experience has been one of constant disappointment, and I would encourage anyone considering KB Home to thoroughly inspect every detail before closing.
