This is not a place I will return to! I was very disappointed in the service, they try to accommodate so many people it's a mad house! First off I had a pedicure that looked like a uhh, to top it off the guy even speak or ask if I want a design. Second I was told one price for a child and ending up paying more...free design for kids?!? That's a joke! I was still charged! Third I asked for my eye brows to be done and they were so busy trying to fit anyone and everyone who walked in the door when they clearly didn't have the space and telling people over the phone they can fit them in!! I had a pedicure & my eyebrows done today. While there, it started raining really hard. The owner walked me to my car under his umbrella, in all of that rain. What a gentleman? In town visiting my parents and decided to get a quick mani/pedi with my 8 year old daughter. If I could give no stars, I would. I thought that the woman who did my pedicure was rude, so I didn't even want the manicure. She filed the skin of my toes more than the nails while trying to pay attention to what everyone else was doing. They all seemed very distracted, made my water too hot and told me just wait before I put my feet in. Went back to other customer and came back to me and the water was still hot. Waited for a 20 mins and I wasn't soaking because the water was too hot. The steamer/ no jet were on when I was finally able to but my feet in because there was too much water. I did like the little kids chairs that they had but my daughter has polish all over her fingers from the man that did her nails, who also dropped the whole nails polish on the floor. We were never offered water while we had sat and waited to be served, while once they sat a white group of ladies they were all offered water. Didn't feel like my business was valued at all and I would never return and I wouldn't recommend. read more

This place is the closest and most convenient to my house which I thought was a plus, however each time I've gotten my nails done, I've gone back within a week for a fix. Also, this place is always understaffed so there's constantly a long wait. Knowing this, I called ahead of time today to get a fill-in while I was on break. On the phone they said soonest available was 40 min. I come in THIRTY min later just to make sure we're on track and I see just one person getting her nails done. I asked how long they said 15 min. I come back 15 min later and they say 15 more. When I reminded them I had called AND checked back they said 10 min. When I said I was leaving they said 5 min. I left, this is absurd. read more

I really love Tropical Nails. Their staff are so friend and responsible. They always ask customers what they want and told them to come back if something wrong with their nails. DO NOT COME HERE. The service was horrible. The woman doing my manicure spent ten minutes on me TOPS and then when she went to do my mother, who was paying the bill, she spent twenty minutes on her. I left I could figure this a negative star I would. I was going out of town with a group of friends. I went to this nail place due to great reviews. The female started my pedicure and when she was about to start my nails a "regular" came in and said due to filming she was late and because she couldn't find parking that made her even more late. Well the female tells me she couldn't do my nails because she had to attend to this late client. When I told her what was the difference in our money cause I'm pretty sure I was spending more she pretty much refused to finish service. I had the pleasure of getting a nail fill-in on April 4. Gracie, the owner, has made me a fan of Tropical Nails and this will be the only place in Covington I'll go to have a manicure or pedicure. Her entire staff is personable and professional. The shop is clean and Gracie took her time and did a wonderful job. She listened to what I wanted and my nails have never looked so good. I visited several salons in the area and this is by far the best, offering a wide variety of services and to little girls too. In fact, an area in the shop is painted with princesses and would be a wonderfully fun place for a little girl to feel pampered. read more

I do not hesitate to refer friends & family members to this nail salon. Cleanliness is always my top concern when it comes to nail salons but I have never experienced any problems here. Went there for two adult and one princess mani pedis. Started out great then the woman who was doing the princess spa rolled in late for work and extremely grumpy. She had a short fuse and was very snippy. Slapped some hand sanitizer on my grand daughters hands, stuck her feet in the spa for about three minutes, painted her nails and stalked off. She might have spent 8 minutes with her. Then she snipped at the one doing my nails to only put one coat on. No one had said a word to her this grump did all this on her own. Her hate of her job is why we'll never go there again. First and only visit!!! Too bad she ruined it. read more

I recently was in the area on vacation and stopped in to have my nails and eyebrows done. The gel manicure is fantastic and my nails have lasted 4 weeks now! Everybody compliments me on them. This is not the place for me. I called and scheduled an appt for 6:15 pm. I arrived at the salon at 5:55. When I got there there were two women working. I was told by one of the ladies that her sister would come in to do my pedicure, and she lived 10 minutes away. I waited 30 minutes for someone to arrive. When the person arrived it was her husband. I was placed in the water for my pedicure. The guy comes to do my pedicure and it's like it's his first time. He takes almost 20 minutes to take the polish off of my toes. Then he uses callus remover on my toes and place them back in the water. (by this time the water was ice cold, b/c I had waited so long) I have gotten pedicures for many years and I know they use a creamy liquid on your toes and the callus remover on the bottom of your feet. Then he takes a dollar store pack of utensils out and attempt to clean up my cuticles. As we speak now my big toe is sore from him cutting me. He scrubbed my feet with callus remover, cut my toenails a little and was on his way. The lady that did my nails was okay they came out nice. But she did not do the design that she said she knew how to do. She finished my feet by removing some extra skin and polished my toes. While I was getting my work done there were a few ppl that came in that had to wait. Mind you the shop closes at 7:30. I did not leave the shop until after 9:00 pm. They were very unorganized. I paid $85 for a fill (1 broken nail) and a pedicure. They were nice ppl but they have work to do. I was told they were the new owners and they have been there for 3 months. They advertise a 15% discount for new customers. I told them I was new but they did not apply the discount. When it was time to pay I was pretty much over it. I forgot to mention that I called and scheduled an appointment and they called me back to rescheduled b/c I guess Kim was overbooked. I asked if I could come in on Sunday the lady said sure. She scheduled me I went up there and they are closed on Sunday's. read more

I took my daughter for her first mani pedi, the owners husband was very nice!! Unfortunately he left and the daughter of the owner came in. She was very rude to the technicians and rude to clients as well! She will run her parents business in the ground acting in such a childish manner. I was very disappointed. My sister and I got pedicures here while on vacation. We made an appointment, but when we arrived they could only take one of us, but my wait was less than five minutes. The treatment was great, I especially liked the special exfoliating scrub that they used, never had that at other places before. My nails look great afterwards and my feet were so smooth! The staff was friendly and professional, the facility was bright and clean. Will definitely be back when we're in town again! read more

We walked in because they have a big sign that says "Walk-ins Welcome." They had no wait but were working on 2 customers. When we were asked, we asked for 2 manicures for my 5 year old daughter and me and they responded with a big sigh and "It will be at least 30 minutes." They waited for us to leave - and we did. My husband and I went this past Friday to get mani/pedis. Though we were not rushed out I did not feel this was anything special. The staff barley spoke to us. I could live with that but what I can't live with is the fact the person who did my gel nails tore my nails up taking the old polish off... not to mention my cuticles. We waited 45 mins for them to do a pedicure and manicure on my 3 year old and I, after all was said and done we got an express mani and a polish change. Gracie was very helpful but the whole salon was unorganized as to who had an which appointment, and the staff working there is very rude!!! I absolutely love Tropical Nails!!! I've been a regular customer since 2008. My mother now goes there and when my sister is visiting from South Carolina she goes as well. One thing that I can say is that in all my years of going there, I've never seen any dirty equipment or stations. That is one thing I really appreciate about them. It is always very relaxing and restful for me when I visit. I always look forward to going for my manicure/pedicure. I just had a manicure today and my hands look fabulous!!! I settled for gel and was rushed right through, didn't square off tips like I asked and was very short when trying to make conversation. I thought I would try a new nail place since this one has the princess section with kid sized spa chairs. I am very particular with my nails and researched their website and pictures before coming. I showed up and no one was there. That should have been my first clue. The lady that did my fill in, I believe is the owner, but had no idea what she was doing. She had never heard of solar nails, which I wish she had told me ahead of time instead of after finishing up. So, she proceeded to put acrylic all over my nails. There are bumps and waves all over my nails. She put color on my tips that is uneven. She didn't even as if I wanted my nails square or round - she just did round because that's all she can do. In the middle of this, my girls are getting a spa mani/pedi by a girl with an awful smokers' cough. After she finished one of my girls (because she had to do them one at a time), she put on her coat and grabbed her purse and said she had to go. A verbal confrontation ensued between her and the owner and she decided to stay and finish my other daughter. So, basically, I paid $20 each for this girl to rush through painting their nails and toes. My fill in came out to $35 - for what, I'm not sure. The place was dirty and the supplies are just thrown in drawers. I am very disappointed with my experience and will never be back. I would think twice as well if I were you... read more
