A quick look at Yelp showed Strawn's Eat Shop listed at number one in diners locally. The inside is a mix of old timey and funky with lots of creative murals painted on the walls. We quickly received our drinks and ordered. Our waitress was outstanding but I didn't get her name. Our food was soon there and we dug in. My chicken fried steak was good but the mashed potatoes and cornbread were the stars. I'm not a big fan of salad or green beans but they were pretty good for vegetation. My wife enjoyed her catfish basket. She prefers cornmeal on catfish over flour breading and was pleased with the crispy cornmeal and the generous portion. Now for the main event. Pie! Strawn's is known for their strawberry pie and for good reason. It was the best strawberry pie that I have ever eaten. The whipped cream topping was transcendent and paired perfectly with the strawberries. My photo does not do this pie justice. My wife went with coconut pie and while it was very good the strawberry was the winner. Looking forward to returning to Straw's Eat Shop in the future.

Normally the service is fast and accurate. The eggs and meat were over cooked and the potatoes were well undercooked. Normally the meal is better. Couldn't send it back because the server never returned to the table. I won't return any time soon.

In town for a week for business and got tired of fast food chain food. Found this little "sandwich…read moreshop" a little off the beaten path and I'm glad I did. I was met by the new owner (just purchased it a week ago) and he explained that he only had a temp lunch menu. I asked if the club sandwich was on the temp menu and he indicated it wasn't but he had all the ingredients for it and would happily make it for me. While he was preparing we had a chat about the place and he said he wanted to experiment with the layout of the sandwich. It turned out great. Plenty of meat, right amount of cheese and toppings. The ONLY thing I'd change is the bread appears to be toasted on a buttered grill. I'm a little old school and would have preferred standard toasted bread, but that alone would not stop me from going again. Best of luck to the new owner and if you're in town, the extra 3 minute drive away from the main part of town is well worth it!

The Cuban is on the freshest bread and it tastes like the condiments and pork are truly homemade and the effort shows. My only criticism would be that if you are ordering online it seems like the menu varies even though they have the food available if you call. Second, I dislike that they are closed on weekends. It's the most opportune time to get food from there. So it's delicious when you can get it.

The potato's and "green beans" (haricots verts) were so amazing and delicious. The dessert was so tasty, I couldn't stop eating. The appetizer (spinach and artichoke dip) was so delicious, I wish it had just a little more spinach in it but overall I loved the chunky artichoke and all the cheese. The chips were a side to it and they appeared freshly baked and super crispy. Heavily seasoned but perfect. Everything was just amazing. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived (around 5p is when they opened) but picked up later in the evening. There is a small bar where happy hour starts around 4p. It was a great experience. The staff was great! Our waiter (Scott) was extremely friendly and had the perfect amount of "checking on us" timing. He wasn't doing too much or too little. He checked on us at the right moments and was extremely patient when we were deciding dessert. He was quick to take our order and got us our food in a timely manner. Everything was just perfect. Had a great time!

It was too loud in the patio and I had a wobbly chair‼‼‼won't be returning. You need to beef up your food with the prices that you charge, it should be good. My husband had a $62 filet mignon that was too spicy and not a good quality. I had the trout. It was ok. I did not like stacking the food. Trying to be fancy and your patron can't find what they ordered. Had a wonderful server and the bread was good.
