From what I read, This restaurant is the oldest continuously owned family restaurant in Louisiana! My first trip here--had to try the Muffy. It was amazing! It was flavorful and not soggy. Service was quick and friendly. The eclectic decor gave us plenty to look at!

Deluxe pizza and current size of their original muffy.

I love this piece of Shreveport heritage and I love supporting them. I always get super friendly service although I usually call my order in and pick it up to go. The inside is always very clean and tidy and every time I check they have a perfect score from the health department. All their food is delicious. I have been dining on their food for over 40 years and have never been unhappy with anything. You can't go wrong. I personally get the original muffaletta most of the time. Sadly they no longer serve the huge muffalettas that could serve several people and the bread is acquired from somewhere else and not as good as it once was but inflation is everywhere and they have to survive. It's still delicious!

A "must visit" in Shreveport. So unique! "muffy" is one of a kind and delicious. Meatball sandwich is also great. Nice people. Historic landmark! Classic Muffy

I talked my wife into trying this place on our lunch date. This is a historic business in the city and I encourage all to go there for the nostalgia. As for the food, some of the pics on older reviews show HUGE muffulettas. Well... they don't make those anymore. We ordered the Centurion (Roast beef) & the Gladiator (Turkey). We split both and agreed the Centurion was just roast beef and bread. I had to look for the cheese to verify there was any on the sandwich. The Gladiator was good but I just like a meatier sandwich. The previous posts just misled me. Two sandwiches, 2 bags of chips, a mint tea (really good) and a can of Coke was about $27 with tax. Expensive but again it was about the experience. There's history all over the inside of this place.

We ate here last about 4 years ago. Still easy to remember. It is a blast and so many people who live in or around Shreveport have never been and many never heard of it! Go there for the Muffaletta= called "The Muffy" here because muffaletta was too long a word for the sign on top out front. A Muffy uses muffaletta bread with mustard and pickle loaf and Papa Fertitta's secret Olive Mix that the family still makes. Go there for the old family recipe of Italian Sweet Mint Tea. Go there for the old atmosphere and step back in time. Go there because American Pickers and others have visited. Go there on a day when you have nothing to do and want to go somewhere and eat something different!

Amazing!!! Fast, good, and authentic. The original "MUFFY" was an experience I'll never forget. The pralines were the best I've ever had in my life. The atmosphere was charming and unique. This place is truly a diamond in the rough for 91 years!!! With employees that have been there for over 50yrs. They'll definitely give you the history behind this great grocery store turned restaurant.

So I called back and asked what her name was…read moreand someone else answered (she was very sweet as well), but they told me her name, and that was only because me being who I am and forgetting. She was so professional, so sweet and so providing....does that make sense. I have been eating at Jason's deli for 20 years. And there have been a few that were very nice , but because not only that I have an interaction with her months before when I was in there, I also had a phone interaction with her this time. And that's what changed everything because she was still the same sweetheart person that she could be. So once again, I wanna give it up to ...... TYESHA !!! because she deserves it

My roast beef sandwich was huge, fresh, and delicious especially since this time I was able to dunk it in their flavorful au jus sauce. That combination is clearly the best in our area. I did get extra mayo. So my order was perfect. Nothing was missing. The gingerbread muffins taste exactly like my grandmother's recipe. They were delicious. Their bowl of tomato soup was also on point in terms of flavor and this time I got plenty of crackers. Two pack of crackers, is their norm, so on my first visit, I was given the correct amount of crackers. I just didn't know that was the norm. If you want an amazing roast beef sandwich... this is the place... that pickle spear really sets it off. This was a great lunch.

The Most Adventurous Review I've Ever Written…read more On my way to Subway for lunch, I drove past the new Mexican place near the VA. I walk in and am very pleased with all the authentic Mexican groceries, piñatas, and their in-store, non-Tex-Mex restaurant. THANK YOU JESUS! I waited at the deli-style counter for awhile until a waitress emerged from the back. As I tried to get her attention, she disappeared and returned from the back with a guy that looked like he was in the middle of food prep. He was very kind, spoke English, and answered my questions. Aha! I get it! I'm TOTALLY in for AUTHENTIC Mexican food!!! I order, then sit down. The waitress brings my food and I ask in English where I get a drink. She looked at me like a deer caught in the headlights. Yes! An opportunity to practice some Spanish! Quenching my thirst depends on it!!! We converse in my broken Spanish, the guy from the back looks on and smiles, and I get a drink. SCORE! The food was nice and spicy. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and groom my beard. I went to unlock the door, and the lock didn't turn. I grabbed the handle, it was loose, and it wouldn't open the door. I played with the lock, and something seemed to slip. Turning the handle wasn't producing any action to open the door. I was stuck...but wait! I had my Leatherman! I could get out of this situation! I removed the screws from the handle, and the outside handle hit the floor. Surely it was enough to get someone's attention. I waited, nothing. I yelled, in Spanish, through the door knob hole. Nothing. I yelled again, in Spanish, nothing. I'm gonna die in a Mexican bathroom, one block from work, in the states. Think, think, think. I have a Leatherman! I looked at the wide gap in the door, then selected the longest blade from my tool. It took little effort to move what I needed to move, and then I was FREE!!! I emerged from the bathroom, and no one seemed to notice anything. Not even the door handle lying on the ground. The waitress walked up to me and handed me my check, so I handed her the door handle hardware. She looked at me like I had somehow vandalized the store, but I motioned and requested to speak to the man in the back from earlier. A different person came from the front of the store, probably sensing my frustration, and I told him that I was locked in the bathroom and had to get myself out. It was actually pretty funny. I'm sure they were embarrassed and didn't know how to respond, but had it been anyone else, they would have given them an ear full. Though I still had to pay for my food, I intend on returning. Hopefully I gave them enough fodder to tell their friends and family a funny gringo story for today.

In town for a week for business and got tired of fast food chain food. Found this little "sandwich…read moreshop" a little off the beaten path and I'm glad I did. I was met by the new owner (just purchased it a week ago) and he explained that he only had a temp lunch menu. I asked if the club sandwich was on the temp menu and he indicated it wasn't but he had all the ingredients for it and would happily make it for me. While he was preparing we had a chat about the place and he said he wanted to experiment with the layout of the sandwich. It turned out great. Plenty of meat, right amount of cheese and toppings. The ONLY thing I'd change is the bread appears to be toasted on a buttered grill. I'm a little old school and would have preferred standard toasted bread, but that alone would not stop me from going again. Best of luck to the new owner and if you're in town, the extra 3 minute drive away from the main part of town is well worth it!

The Cuban is on the freshest bread and it tastes like the condiments and pork are truly homemade and the effort shows. My only criticism would be that if you are ordering online it seems like the menu varies even though they have the food available if you call. Second, I dislike that they are closed on weekends. It's the most opportune time to get food from there. So it's delicious when you can get it.
