Chicken biscuit and andouille sausage gravy.

Do I feel morally conflicted about giving a place a five star rating when I spent the afternoon hugging a toilet? Yep! But I'm gonna do it anyway and here's why-- Bottomless mimosas!! On my second trip to the bar the bartender suggested just converting to a bottomless mimosa. I which point I should've said no, but there's a first time for everything and this Sunday morning brunch was that day. The food was phenomenal! My boyfriend's chicken biscuit was the perfect blend of spice and honey-sweet. Chicken was fried well, still juicy. My sausage gravy biscuit was fantastic as well. We tried the beignets and French toast that our friends got, those were also really good. This remodel has been amazing for this place. Very clean, great service. Seriously, no complaints. Just thankful I had a ride home.

I mean...how else do you start Highland's parade day!? The perfect place for food and drinks while you get ready for the SBC's biggest parade! Service lines still need a bit of work for this event (tickets versus card, not my favorite). The food I ate was very tasty, and the newly designed spaced is so welcoming and quintessential Shreveport. I love Marilynn's - I'll always be back.

My wife w beans and rice

Always great, I had the daily special. A pasta dish w crawfish and just the right amount of heat. My wife had the beans and rice, which she love. The staff is so nice!!! Topped odd w the great bread pudding. When ever we drive through Shreveport, we try to stop.

Another tasty visit! This was Sunday brunch. Service was great on our way through, quick & friendly service. We've never seen it not busy! Hit the spot on a "chilly" August day.

I was very disappointed with my order. On first glance the food looks good, but lacks seasoning and flavor. The best part of the meal was the table hot sauce, and without it, I would not have been able to stomach the food. Service was okay, but was slow at times. Ambiance could use some work, as the vibes were off. I ended up leaving hungry and did not ask for a box for my leftovers. Thankfully, there was a great bakery next door, so I was able to go to Lowders and get a much better option to meet my hunger needs.

Staff is super friendly. Food is amazing. The atmosphere was great! We went for a lunch date. My husband got the roast beef poboy, I got the boudin poboy, and we shared some boudin egg rolls. The portions were so big that we had to take the rest home with us. We sat outside under the awning, they had fans going, and it was a beautiful day.

My friend & I went here for a late lunch on Saturday. I got a combo with gumbo and crawfish etoufee, she got a combo with gumbo & a brisket sandwich cuz they ran out of the burger she wanted, and because they were out of the pepperjack Mac n cheese, we split a large order of sweet potato fries. The food was very good, and the staff were friendly. I'll definitely be back to try the pork with pineapple salsa & their Mac n cheese.

It's truly laid back I enjoy the owner is on the scene Kudos for AYCD but more drink options are needed. I don't care for vodka and definitely don't want a bloody Mary but some tequila based would be nice. Either way, they pour heavy which I appreciate given this is Louisiana but I would recommend for drinks and a new experience. What works: 1) my folks said "that's good coffee" 2) good value for group dining. 3) all you can drink (AYCD) 4) their cordial and cheery service from the kitchen, back of house, to the front of house (cashier and drink maker). Most things appeared to be heat and eat. I should've asked for more cream cheese. I didn't. Smoked salmon was flavorful. My dining party had shrimp and grits but no mention it'd be a red sauce or "Creole style." I might be the one Southener that doesn't eat grits but I know plenty that won't touch seafood in red sauce so yeah that disclaimer is needed. I can't recommend those chicken and waffles because it's just prepacked strips and frozen waffles but the Belgian style with the ball of sugar in them. Cleaning is needed in between parties. I enjoyed the staff and service more than the food. They played great music, old school R&B, THEY had good jokes and answered all our questions without attitude but it was super laid back they let me grab my food when I saw it came up. I will return to try the regular menu as it's brunch only on Sunday.

Combo with fried remoulade shrimp and seafood gumbo. So good!

Come here for amazing Cajun food! Seriously, this is now at the top of my lists for when visiting the Shreveport area. We stopped by for lunch and I got the combo with shrimp remoulade only and seafood gumbo. Wow was this a lot of food! The shrimp poboy alone was enough to fill me up for lunch. The fried shrimp were breaded and crispy even though covered in the sauce. The gumbo was so flavorful and you could see all of the chunks of seafood in it. The owner is very hands on which is great. (He also has a sense of humor). His employees were wonderful and nice. I said my name once and the manager remembered and called me by name after that. Can't wait to be back to the area to try more off the menu!

Super cute restaurant with super mid food. Food wasn't horrible but if you're looking for Cajun this is NOT it. Food wasn't horrible but didn't come close to finishing the meal- debris fries were soggy, fried shrimp platter and fried catfish platters had essentially no seasoning and there was nothing to season with on the table. Beautiful place, boudin egg rolls weren't bad but you can definitely find better.

I cannot recommend this place enough. I came here with family from out of town. The gumbo is so phenomenal and I'm still dreaming about it. The service is as friendly as you can get! This place feels straight out of a novel. Yummy! The po boy also was excellent.

different type of review today! stopped by today and found out it was Maryland's last day with original owner. the place was packed! they had a band set up for live music and drink until you drown wristbands! no doubt the food would have been fabulous! we did have our " bam bird" take a picture with the owner !

We stopped in on a quick trip to Shreveport. The food options were great. The service was perfect. I can't think of the gentleman's name that was so kind and helpful. The establishment is an older gas station. At first I was a little hesitant with the seating. The evening was cool for the garage styled restaurant, but after the food came out and having dinner I told my husband it was cozy. The children said they forgot it was cold. So, I sat that so don't be hesitant if the weather is hot or cold, I think they manage it well. I had gumbo. My husband a Po boy sandwich that didn't disappoint. My son a kids hamburger. We are from Texas so he wasn't used to the bread. My daughter a sampler of some sort. The sauce house sauce they offered was great To end the dinner off we had dessert the Beignets were soooo delicious!!

Ask the Community - Marilynn's Place

Can you sit at the bar area to eat/drink?

There's really not a typical bar to sit at and eat. There is sitting in the area where the bar is located and there is sitting outside in good weather.

Are dogs allowed on the patio?

    Yes!

We appreciate the complimentary hummus & bread however the flavors & texture is not what I have been accustomed to. The pita bread tasted commercial & over saturated with butter. Our side dish was not appetizing, cranberries on rice tasted canned (so much rice!) & main dish protein was undercooked. 2.5/5. Thankful for this One & Done experience. The room was beautiful in a quiet, elegant way, thoughtfully put together, warm and welcoming. And the people... every single waitress greeted us with kindness, but Miss Tammy -- oh, she was something special. The kind of person who makes you feel like you've known her forever. So sweet, so genuine, the kind of service you don't forget. The food came out and from the very first bite, it was clear this was a place that cooks with love. The eggs, the omelet, the French toast -- everything tasted like comfort. And then there was the millionaire bacon -- perfectly caramelized with brown sugar and just a touch of chili flakes. Sweet, smoky, with a gentle heat that teased your taste buds like heaven. Absolutely unforgettable. The portions were generous in the best way, and the prices were more than fair, especially for a breakfast that leaves you full and happy. But listen... the coffee.
