I called to reserve a taxi to the airport. When u asked how much it would be so I had enough cash, he yelled at me and said we go through this all the time and HUNG UP ON ME! I used the only once before over a year ago. I called back and asked why he hung up on me and started yelling and I told him to stop yelling and he hung up on me. Obviously I will NEVER call them again, and I have sent a communication to the 300 apartments in my building to warn them not to call thrm and to avoid the abuse! BEWARE OF THIS TAXI SERVICE! I called for a taxi on Saturday 8/30 at 5:45am for transportation from Aventura to FLL Airport. Was quoted $55.00 flat rate and agent confirmed they accept credit cards. One we arrived at the destination the fare charged was $67.33. When brought to the driver's attention he justified by telling me it was because I used a credit card and didn't pay cash; a 22% premium! The cab #3275 and driver rude and insolent. Best taxi service in Aventura. The dispatchers are very friendly, attentive and helpful. I used to use a different taxi service, trying to avoid the scam of Uber, but they dont answer the phone and if they do they will not make any guarantee the cab will arrive on time if at all. My driver was courteous and didn't mind I had to use a credit card for a $10 far. I will only use this company for all my travel needs. read more

I actually stumbled across Tropical & Turnberry Taxi while walking down Collins Ave trying to flag down a taxi after a poor attempt from my hotel to get me a taxi with another company (waited over an hour and one never showed, their suggestion was to try to flag down a taxi from the street, are you kidding me?) Anyways I was passed by several taxis that didn't have a fare, however after a few minutes a Tropical Taxi pulled over and offered to help out, the driver was friendly and explained not to use the hotel taxi service as they are often delayed. He took me to my destination and even gave me his card which I called when I needed to get back to the hotel and much to my surprise he picked me up in less than 5 minutes. The taxi was clean with great service, and reasonable rates. Highly recommended. read more

Tried calling at 3:30pm on a Sunday to book an airport transfer for 4:30am the next morning. Dispatch hung up on me the first time. Second attempt, I received the following: "you need to call back after 7pm ok?" Me:"why" Operator: "b/c the person is not here and i'm extremely busy, ok." ...Click. Nevermind. Avoid this company. Called for a car to arrive to Turnberry towers...i boarded the taxi and advised the driver I was going to the Aventura Mall... in frustration and while driving, he call on his cell to complain to the dispatcher (in spanish) about the "shitty call"..."all this for a shitty mall call?". He proceeded to make a wrong turn and drive the longest circular route to my destination...just to up the fare .. he spoke on his cell arguing 50% of the drive... I can go on.... I've used Tropical Taxi a few times now since I was desperate for a ride to the hospital or to the mechanic, but really I don't know why I keep using them. Each time it takes up to 15 minutes for a taxi to actually arrive at the destination, even though I'm told 5 to 10 minutes by the dispatcher. Today though was an odd experience and one that probably will make me go elsewhere for a taxi service. I called and the dispatcher asked where I was located, well while I was rattling off the address I was placed on hold and never told. I actually thought she hung-up on me, so I called back after a minute of listening to the weird hold noise. Then I asked if the taxi would take a credit card, since I knew they had been transitioning to credit card machines back in February, and was told yes. Once the taxi picked me up I saw the machine on the back seat, but once I got to my destination I was told "oh no, that's for my boss, I need cash." Thankfully I had enough cash so I paid with that, but having to pay in cash when there was a credit card machine there really frustrated me. I can't figure out if the driver was trying to pull something, or the company itself. It seemed odd they had the machine and was told by the dispatcher yes, but then the driver refused the credit card. Overall this left a sour taste in my mouth today. The one positive I can say about the company is that the taxis have always been clean with friendly and easy to understand drivers. read more

Information desk at Aventura Hospital recommended this service as the fastest and most reliable, so I had them call a taxi for me to get to FLL airport. Driver arrived out front in just 10 minutes, he was very nice and taxi was clean and comfortable. I asked him to explain to me what Uber was all about, because a nurse at the hospital had told me to use that, and he filled me in on the pros and cons of a service like Uber. I prefer using a taxi service, I appreciate that they are screened and safe, especially when I travel alone. My fare was far more reasonable than I expected, and I liked being able to pay and tip with my credit card. Very convenient and I will use them again when in the Miami/Ft.Lauderdale/Aventura area. read more

I've lived here for many years and whenever I don't feel like driving to or parking at Miami airport, this is my go-to transportation. Super Shuttle continues to get more expensive -- and honestly, do you really need to get picked up 5 hours before your flight just so you can take a tour of the shadier parts of town before you arrive at the airport? In any case, I have called Tropical Taxi both at last minute and ahead of time...once even during pre-dawn hours...and they always arrive at their agreed upon time and get me to the airport using the fastest route. So do you really value your life? Mr Tropical Taxi 1408 heading south on Interstate 95 at 7 o'clock this morning apparently thinks that his next fair is more important than yours. After cutting me off right as the Express Lane was closing and without using a turn signal, I blared my horn at him and followed him all the way through Miami to the Miami Airport. Following too close and cutting people off didn't seem to matter because he was talking to someone on a cellular phone to be bother with other people on the road. Do not use this taxi service unless you do not care about your life or those of others. This morning as I was exiting the I95 at Ives Dairy Road, cab # 708 cut me off, crossing two double lines from the right-hand lane of the southbound I95, driving diagonally in front of me as though he were a cop stopping a fugitive in a police chase. I narrowly avoided a major accident with personal injuries or death. The driver was unapologetic or remorseful. When I called the company to file a complaint the man at the company telephoned the cab driver while I was still on the phone with him. When asked what had happened the cab driver, without hesitation lied, stating, "That woman is crazy! I was in front of her." Clearly, this company does not care about the safety of their passengers or those of innocent drivers on our local highways and byways. Their only goal is to pick up as many fares as possible and deliver them quickly to their destination, no matter who or what is in their way. Do yourself a favor and call another cab company or, better yet, call an Uber or Lyft driver instead. read more

I usually try to avoid Taxi companies at all costs but I have to write this review based on the company customer service. I caught a cab from Miami airport to South Beach and left a pair of $350 headphones in the back seat but didn't realize until 4 days later. I was SURE I would never get them back as I paid cash and didn't remember who my driver was. By the time I realized they were missing I was at the airport headed back to California. I called the offices and the Manager, Claudia, was one of the most helpful and friendly people I've ever dealt with. She helped me track down the driver, Ranul, who found my headphones and kept them safe for me until I contacted them (he had no way of contacting me about it). He drove them to the office right away, and Claudia shipped them to me the next day and kept me updated with tracking info. I am so thankful to them for their help and doing the right thing. They have 1 star because it wouldn't let me mark NONE! So my hotel called Tropical cab company to take me to the mall. I asked the driver if he took credit cards - "yes" but when I told him my destination, he stopped on breaks and asked if I had cash. When I said no, he said the mall was right up the street but he dropped me off and allowed me to pay with the card. I asked for the phone number so I could call when I was done eating dinner. When I was ready to leave the mall, I called the number and the dispatcher said that someone would be there. I walked to the cab stand and the driver said he didn't take cards. Another driver pulled up and he said that he didn't take cards. I called the dispatcher back and he said all cabs take cards. Another one pulled up to the cab stand and he said that he didn't take cards. After standing there waiting for cabs, another company pulled up and said his machine was broken. Needless to say, this cab company made me resort to downloading the Uber app (which I have been absolutely opposed to) to get back to my hotel which was less than a 5 minute drive, after waiting outside for 45 minutes! read more

A driver from Tropical Taxi disallowed me from using my debit card because the driver said it would cost him money from the fair - he wanted me to use his square pay on his private cell phone to pay instead, When i told him i wasn't going to swipe my card on his personal phone instead of the reader in the bk of the cab he swore at me and told me he was going to take me back to the store where he picked me up - i told him i would pay him cash - the fair was 7 dollars and 65 cents. I went to get my money out of my purse and a 10 and a 5 dollar bill fell out of my purse onto the ground, the cab driver picked up the 15 dollars got in the cab and drove off. I called Tropical Taxi to report his cab # and to get bk my money but Tropical Taxi refused to let me speak with the owner, told me i was harassing them and that i was the problem. Thank goodness the national chain store that i was shopping that had them on auto call for taxi service (Been shopping there for over 30 years) is taking them off their vendor list. I am also writing a letter to the corporate headquarters of these national stores to get them off their vendor list at all of their North Miami locations - Tropical taxi took my 8 dollars and 35 cents but it cost them an important vendor. read more
