If you visit Algarve, going to the caves along the shore, especially the Benagil Cave, is almost a…read moremust. I had to do some long research on the ways to get to the cave. Swimming and kayaking is out as I had in my group someone who's not very athletic. Bumpy small boats may be too hard on some backs. Large boats, while safe and comfortable, cannot get up close and personal inside the caves. Finally I found this company that operates the "pirate ship", which sounds perfect. They have smaller boats that take people inside the caves once you arrive near them, so it's the best of both worlds. We really enjoyed the tour. They have some pirate music going on but didn't overdo the theme to the point that you feel you are crashing a children party. The Algarve shoreline is indeed gorgeous and dramatic, especially against a backdrop of blue sky. Once we get near the caves, half the boat will get down the ladder onto smaller speed boats to take an up close look, while the rest continue to cruise around on the pirate ship. One of the small kids did get too scared to go down to the small boats. They do give us enough time to snap photos and I got so many great ones. The ship supposedly have wifi though the code didn't work. No big deal for me as it would be a shame to be staring at the phone instead of beautiful nature. The meetup point is at Clube Naval de Portimão, which is near the Sardines Museum, so I'd recommend set aside some time to take a quick tour before or after the cruise.

My friend and I are two young women and it would be easy for tour agents to push for as many sales as possible, and it is something we have experienced in the past. However, we cannot recommend this family-owned business enough! They have such a vast knowledge of the Algarve and can recommend the best tours and trips to cater to your needs. Pam and Pedro even arranged a personal shuttle to take us to Praia de Marinha because it is very hard to reach by public transport and they wanted to make sure our trip could be the best possible. There is nothing they won't do to help clients and they are both so genuinely kind and friendly. Their English is flawless and we have hard tnem speak other languages as well, and their historical and cultural knowledge is so useful for tourists. We were taken to a beautiful pavilion from the 1929 Fair-in Seville and other beautiful locations around Seville ending up beat the largest Basilica in Europe. There were four of us and as far as we were concerned the Tour was excellent value for the money we spent.. This tour was 18 Euros cheaper than Follow Me Tours. The only distractor was that the bus was a little older and there was no Wifi however we saved 72 Euros..

Then at some point during the trip, the driver informed us that we needed to stop because another driver was taking us to Lisbon. That he already been driving for too many hours and was not getting paid to do the rest of the trip. We were delayed more than 3 hours and I lost my ride for my next trip and missed a birthday party which was the motive of my trip. I went to complain at the Eva headquarters in Sete Rios and ask for a refund and they said that I needed to send an email to the legal department of the company. I started sending emails in August 2018, requesting the refund and only received a response in mid September from a lady called Irene Mota. Offering me free tickets to use whenever I wanted. That all I had to do was show her email and contact the sales department. I emailed back explaining that I live in NYC and can't use the tickets. I'm not going back to Portugal anytime soon. I just want the refund. Today is November 7th and I never heard back from them. I just sent another email with a copy of their policy regarding the rights of the passengers for a full refund and hope to get a response before the end of the year. This company has terrible customer service and the time they take to respond a customer, is unacceptable for a business.

It was my first time visiting Portugal and an uncle of mine said Vilamoura is a great place to stay…read moreas its not too busy. That's when I came across the apartments at Laguna golf, as per Expedia it was listed as 4 star resort and was right in our price range so without much comparison we went ahead and booked it. Seeing as we went with other family as well, we decided to do self catering as to save a little cash. Upon arriving at the airport we told our driver the address and unfortunately were taken to the golf course and not the apartments. It seemed there was a little confusion as the Laguna Apartments were under renovation for a number of years according to the front desk representative, so of course the driver did not know where to take us. In the end we drove another km or so and found the gates, was a little pricey but for future reference it should be about 35 euros from Faro airport to the apartment. Check in ran fairly smooth, although pur room wasn't yet ready it only took about 10-15 minutes before we got our room key. And by room key, yes I mean there was only one. We had a 1 bedroom suite, fairly generic with bathroom and living room. The kitchen though was spread across one wall which was a little difficult to work with but we managed. Again going back to the part where this was newly renovated, all the appliances were being used for the first time so we had a few issues. Especially with the fridge which had somewhat of a mind of its own and made the freezer unusable. Now at the beginning of this review I did mention we were doing self catering, with that in mind the cutlery, dishes and pots/pans were very basic and not very practical. Seems they expect you to go out and eat, which is difficult seeing as there is nothing on the property and the closest bar is about a 5-10 min walk. Not complaining about the distance, just would be nice if there was a shop or something closer. Luckily, we had the whole place mostly to ourselves for the first couple days, as I mentioned a couple times now they were renovating so only a couple suites on the ground level were vacant. This meant the pool was all ours, it looks nice from afar but is only a couple feet deep from end to end. Overall experience was okay, probably would recommend visiting in August as they said the majority of the property will be finished so you won't have to listen to hammers and saws every morning.

Sao Raphael is a small village near the main town of Albufeira in the Algarve. There are a couple…read moreof hotels in the area but it is mainly made up of apartment blocks which are generally let out for holiday rentals. There are a few supermarkets in the area, although they are a little bit more pricey compared to the bigger superstores. There are a few restuarants dotted about and also some bars and pubs. Sao Raphael has 2 beaches which can be easily accessed by foot or car. The beaches are quite small but the views are breathtaking with cliffs surrounding the beaches. They can get quite busy at weekends as locals chill out here too. It is a good location to spend a holiday in the algarve as you are away from the hustle and bustle of the main town Albufeira but it is close enough to visit if you want nights out and more variety for restaurants.
