They were our irrigation contractors for many years. Their service became worse year after year and they kept increasing their prices for the shoddy and inadequate job they did. We finally terminated them. This is a company that needs to be avoided. read more

I would have never picked them but I bought a new construction home and my builder went with them. WOULD NEVER RECOMMENT them! When they put the sprinklers for me they insisted I had them programmed 3-4 times a day for a month. It was my first time owning a home so I went with what they said. My water bill was 888$ for one month. When I called them they did not take any responsibilites and insisted they they did not tell me to keep the water running that long. Big liers. 2 other neighbors got a high water bill and as me they also followed Trost Irrogation instructions. I was told by other companies that I needed to water the sod every day once a day for one week and then every other day. Trost put it to 3 -4 times a day for me every day for a month. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO WORK WITH THEM AGAIN. Worst experience ever read more

Another unhappy customer of Trost Irrigation. I've moved into my house about a 1 1/2 ago. They were the ones that installed the sprinkler. Since, I had to repair the system numerous times including the water line going into the ground that instead of using copper they used PVC (I'm assuming it was broken when somebody cut the grass). The last straw really came this week. I've installed a rain sensor last year ($180!) and to my surprise the sensor was nowhere to be found anymore this season. Assuming that Trost stands behind their work, I've inquired about what they would do about it. After being lectured that they can't find the sensor (what a surprise, since if it would be around the house I'm sure I would have been able to find it) and that they had been doing this for 20 years (not sure they had sensors 20 years ago), I was told there is nothing they could do for me instead of charging me another full amount to reinstall it. Needless to say - customer service and standing behind their service is not something this company stands for. And I for my turn can and will no longer want to be associated with a company like this. read more

Trost finally came to repair the sprinkler system. They came within the scheduled time as quoted (12-5pm ). They did a great job and inquired about how frequently I'd like have the timer set to water the grass. The only other issue that I had was that they only accepted card or check. Maybe I should have asked of that prior to their visit or at least been informed. I had just went to the bank to withdraw the money before they arrived. P.S. The manager Mr. "T" had responded to my previous post and wanted me to contact him. If he's reading this, there is no need. I received a great follow up with the service and hopefully everything goes well in future services. I was using Yelp to vent about your company because it would have been awkward to address the issues that were previously listed in my 1st post to your phone clerk. Sometimes you get treated maliciously after complaining about the service to the company that is providing the service. That's why I wanted to wait for the follow up before I wrote this update. I am in the customer service arena and customer service is everything. The views that I have expressed were of the service that I have experienced from Trost. I'm not impressed with Trost Irrigation. They worked on my irrigation system and it has multiple issues. After reviewing the reviews on Yelp I have learned this is a company to stay away from. If I knew better, I would have used a different company for my sprinklers. Not enough pressure and not a quality product. The design is flawed and I can't seem to get help. When I call the reps on the phone they are busy. They are short. They want to hang up the phone quickly. They are assertive. They are pushy. I am intimidated when talking to them. I always think out the process in my head of how to talk to them before I call because I'm afraid of getting yelled at. Even after thinking of how to explain my situation or tell them I need help with a product or service, I still stumble once I hear the aggression and bullying on the phone from the receptionist. They service my start and winterization. I'm currently under warranty so I use them so my warranty doesn't get terminated. Once I'm done with this warranty I will not return. I found out from my neighbors they get their winterization completed for $55. I get charged over double that. Their crews are nice. Their front office is not nice. Their manager is average. Their service is below average. The quality of work is below average. Their communication is below average. Their bullying is not necessary. Them being pushy is not necessary. The attitude can stop. I would pay extra for better quality phone receptionist. I would pay extra to get qualified phone receptionist. I would pay extra for respect. I would pay extra if they don't respond back to this message and leave a generic reply as they have done so to the other negative feedbacks on this platform. I will head over to other platforms and express my feelings and my thoughts on this company and how they have treated me during this process and during my experience with this company. I will head over to YouTube (I'm planning on making a short video of the issue I am having and am planning on posting it on YouTube for others to see and comment on.), I will go to consumers affairs, local consumer protection office, FTC if required, planning on opening a bbb case (FYI I dont believe this company is bbb certified and or qualified), will call state attorney general when the time is right. I will document my issues and will get the proper representation when the time presents itself. Add me to the list of unimpressed Trost customers. Our builder used them for our new build home. Horrible customer service. Rude on the phone. The "technicians" they send out act like they have never worked on a sprinkler system before. They cut corners wherever they good when the put in the system, which left us with a very inefficient system. read more

UPDATE! The owner of Trost messaged me about a month back, stating that he was going to look into this and SURPRISE - hasn't gotten back to me. Looks like the lousy customer service goes all the way up the ladder. It's sad...I finally thought I'd be able to replace a bad review with a positive one. read more

They came and turned on my system for the summer and it was set to go off every hour I'm a Disabled Veteran that lives in a handicapped accessible home. I didn't notice because I work all day and hadn't noticed. The Township came by and left a Red Tag for consumption on my door. I thought about it and found out they didn't set it up right. I called them to try and get things right and they said they couldn't believe I didn't notice and that there was nothing they could do. There is one thing I can do it's to make sure everyone knows what kind of business they're running and how they treat Veterans. This cost me almost $400.00 and they don't return calls please share with everyone you know I know I am. read more

Trost installed and has provided seasonal service for our sprinkler system. This past year a valve was damaged due to them leaving it closed during winterizing. Trost refused to repair the valve despite the damage being their fault. It also took them nearly two weeks to give me an answer. This is not the way to do business with loyal customers. read more

Trost has provided service to my homes since 1980 including low voltage lighting to each of the three homes. I have found them to be highly professional, skilled and responsive to service requests. I rate their service crews as first class. The office staff confirms appointments and the crews call ahead to confirm their arrival. read more

Was a good customer for about 10 years. They installed an item improperly and by the time I discovered the error, they refused to address the issue, wouldn't even consider their error without charging me. As I thought about it, they have been good over the years with the up charging and bait and switch. Can't recommend them as they appear to be concerned with profit rather than assisting a long-term customer. This small issue was the only thing I ever asked of them..disappointing. I wouldn't recommend Trost if my life depended on it and they only got one star because Yelp wouldn't let me give zero. After moving into a new house, I had had quite a few workers come and do work while my wife was home and no one disrespected my household more than this company. Two technicians showed up. While one worked on activating the system, another walked my wife around indicating all the issues with the system. He wrote down a quote of $1,200, showed this to my wife and indicated that the office would be in touch to formally provide the quote. However, he did offer to do the work on his own time for half the price. For those of you thinking this sounds like a good idea, DON'T EVER DO THIS. With this "great deal" comes no warranty, no workmen's comp, no bonding and no liability insurance should anything go wrong. That means everything falls back on you and your homeowner's insurance. The foreman also chose to (without any authorization from my wife) install a part she did not see and then request that a check be made out for the part to cash. Interesting...two separate transactions seemed to want to take place. The activation fee was able to go on my credit card but apparently this part couldn't? That's because the technicain was trying to scam not only business away from his boss and the company he worked for, he was trying to scam money for himself by using his companies parts. After pointing out this issue to the owner, I expected some sort of negotiations for what had gone on. He told me he was going to review the paperwork submitted by his technician and "see what he could do" After many days passed and a few unreturned phone calls, I received a text message from the owner, requesting my email so he could forward the quote he said he was going to revisit. He goes on to say that his technician wrote down a price of $1,400 (which if you look above is different than what he showed my wife) so he would do the work for me for $1,200, which is actually the price the technician originally wrote down. Also, to top it off, he offered (1) free winterization, which I just found to be insulting. In the end, I would never recommend that anyone call Trost for any work. read more

DO NOT GO WITH TROST. Horrible Customer service and unwilling to help. Purchased a new home in December that had the Trost system already installed. Apparently they offer a 90 day warranty which is funny because I cannot test the sprinkler system in 3 feet of snow and 10 degrees outside. Went to turn on the system and one sprinkler head leaks. Called about warranty and they said buyer offers 90 days. Funny how I work for a company that we have to cover the 1 year warranty even though we do not make the product. When I talked to the gem of a lady at Trost she said sprinkler was damaged. I asked how it could be damaged when no one has looked at it. She stayed quiet. Then she said she could send someone out but it would cost me money. Nice way to keep your customers. I then asked to speak to someone higher and she said they were busy. The first person a customer talks to and this is how I'm treated. I find it funny that someone from Trost commented saying its the builders warranty and he does not stand by his product. How can you pass the buck on your own product. I have a small leak in the screw part of the sprinkler head and they are unwilling to help out. I will laugh if someone from Trost responds with a generic "it's the builder who sets the warranty" How about standing by your product. I can see why this company has so many problems because if they are unwilling to help the customer, they can just do a horrible job because once the job is complete, they have their money. read more
