The business owners have done a superb job of converting this impressive looking former post office into a stylish space with minimal yet elegant finishes. Probably odd to note but the restrooms are particularly nice. Spotlessly clean with tile and fixtures that compliment this more than 100 year old building. While I was not granted VIP access to the before and after parties held in the famous basement speakeasy, my sources tell me it is a truly special gathering place "that you just have to see". Yeah. Thanks. I would note that while you might think Ottawa seems like kind of out of the way, it's really a short hop south of Lawrence on 59 Hwy or an easy drive on Interstate 35 South from Kansas City. As the groom acknowledged to me the day after their celebration, the room was electric with energy when filled with so many of the beautiful people they call friends. Soooo stylish, great ambience, good location. Why only 4 stars instead of 5? I'm going to chalk it up to a lack of security. That's right security. Several riffraff wedding crashers from Topeka and you know who you are (Dave, Nick, Tylor, etc.) were able to gain access and basically blew up the open bar budget!

Don't go here! We checked in, put our things in our room and left to visit family. We came back…read morearound 10pm to a couple spiders and an ant trail near the bathroom. We went to the lobby to try to get another room but no one was there and it was closed. So we grabbed our things and went to the only other motel in town. The next morning, we took the key back and explained that we didn't stay at all... the lady said "yeah I didn't see anyone in there" I was hoping to get my $65 back but all she offered was to take care of the ant problem for the next guest. What a waist of time and money. Go to the landmark. It's cheaper! It's way bigger! And a whole lot cleaner!oh and definitely nicer hospitality.

I hold the owners of this "business" completely responsible for ruining what was supposed to be a…read morespecial day. To start with I was told that there would be handicapped accessible bathrooms available and there was not. I had family members that were not able to stay because they were not able to access a bathroom. We were told there is plenty of power to run the roasters and what not throughout the evening. That was not the case at all. After having to agree to pay $100 to have fans put up to use, they couldn't be turned on because it blew all the breakers. Now on to your $1000 damage deposit. While I do understand the reason for having that deposit, what you have considered damage is absolutely ridiculous. A few kids picked some flowers and that gives you the right to say that we now owe you a certain amount of money. I think not! And to think you can charge me because of said handicapped family needing to pull closer (on a driveway that was already there) is just wrong. I hope you never have family that needs a little closer drop off somewhere and are told sorry we're gonna charge you $500 to do so. Then to even consider that, in the men's bathroom there was people purposely peeing on the walls! That is just plain absurd! What else is there, oh yes the Adirondack chairs that you claim were destroyed because of being moved around. Then why do you even have the chairs if you expect them to never be moved? You have also claimed that there were rocks that were destroyed. They are rocks and you seem to think that they are worth a couple hundred dollars, are out of your mind. Lastly and even more important than the handicapped accessible parking and restrooms was the fact that you actually saw no problem with getting into altercations with our family and guests! I hope that at some point you have to deal with the embarrassment that you caused me and my husband. If this is to be your business, I promise to make it my goal to see that you have no business!

All of the things we didn't think of, they had. Mark and Becky were such a pleasure to work with. They bent over backwards to ensure wverything went smoothly! They had very clear and understandable rules and guidelines to follow. These rules were very standard across all of the venues we visited. They have set up everything to make your day go perfectly!

I had called about a roll off dumpster, figuring it would take quite a while for them to look it up…read moreand see if one is available, then ask a lot of different questions about what I'm needing it for and where to put it when they deliver it and have problems renting on the day I'd like to rent it on and i needed it for a week...BUT The lady that answered the phone was very nice and listened to what I needed and she let me know the sized they had and how long the rental times are and the cost and what that in tailed. She already knew what i was needing before i could say it... She made renting it so quick and easy and she didn't rush me either and quickly got me on the books for monday to deliver it.. I'm just sorry i can't remember her name! guess i was so excited about being able to get the dumpster that i forgot her name.. I'm so sorry.
