Emails go for a week without a response and their receptionist is frequently gone during regular business hours sending you through to voicemail. James was great to work with; very knowledgeable, and straightforward. The office staff and assistant are why they get 1 star. I went to James because my mother used him for her estate, but for probate or anything other than drafting a simple document I would look elsewhere. It seems like they don't have the time of day for their "clients". I believe we were also overcharged in a deceptive manner. We were told that because of the life insurance policy that we would likely need probate instead of a small estate affidavit and we found out months later that the life insurance fall outside of probate and we dealt with MetLife separately.

When it was time for trial, because they didn't like going against Dennis Schroeder, they wanted $45k for a RETAINER for trial. When I shopped around, a trial retainer should only be $10-$15k. Terrible services, would never recommend. Also, when you want them to withdrawal, they will charge you for that too. I have a $900 bill because it took them 3 hours to just file THEIR withdrawal paperwork with the courts. I'd find someone else for sure!!!

Answer a few standard questions, chat about your impending death, and whammo! You've got yourself a legally binding will, power of attorney, health care advance directive, etc. Betsy also told us everything about death we wouldn't have even known to ask. Plus, she and her husband even come to *your* house for a signing party so you get the documents right away. It wasn't cheap, but check to see if your company has a legal plan (ours paid for almost everything!). But it was thorough, painless, and quick. Just like I hope that impending death of mine will be.
