Since they wanted $4,000 more for a graveside service of 4 or 5 people, then all we wanted was to be close when they buried my mom to leave flowers on her grave and they took that away from us. We asked numerous times for a day and time the burial would happen and Samantha continued to say she didn't know; there was always some kind of excuse. When a day was finally scheduled, again we asked and asked for a time so that we could bring the flowers. I texted Samantha that morning to ask for the time, and she responded saying they just finished burying her. Needless to say, I'm very upset. I question Samantha's choice of commitment to a grieving family based on our lack of $20,000 for a funeral service. She told me that we requested an "immediate burial." I could not understand that comment when my mom passed on September 15th and they finally buried her on October 4th (almost three weeks later). I think they could have found a time for us to watch from our car in three weeks). Don't ever use this mortuary. We only did so because my 18 year old brother was killed on a motorcycle accident in Truckee. My mom then purchased burial plots for the whole family when she had to bury her only son.

During the peace, I was invite to join them after for the parish Coffee Hour. I had the chance to meet another Scottsdale couple, who were visiting on their way up to Glacier National Park. Small world! Interim Rector Rev. Eric Heidecker was the celebrant at the 10 o'clock service, while The Rev. Dr. David Mussatti preached. The only Liturical surprise was a lack of a Deacon to read the gospel. Music Director, Donna Axton played a lively rendition of post-Trinity Sunday hymns, with six of the choir standing in front leading the parish. It was all very nice!

It is like a bunch of rookies are running this mortuary. My sister's ashes showed up at my house…read moreyesterday, and I live in Michigan. I had to send the ashes to the intended destination, a funeral home In Youngstown, OH. The post office rep said that they did not ship them properly. I reused their shipping container, and our U.S.P.S. rep placed 2 cremains labels on the box, and charged me $48. This business paid the U.S.P.S. $28 to ship the cremains to me, with no return address on the shipping container. The paperwork inside said the ashes were from my sister, but where they really? When I called to complain, Rebekah was speechless. She certainly was vocal when she took my credit card number for the cremation. Rebekah was flummoxed using DocuSign for the legal paperwork, even though the DocuSign website was satisfied on how I signed and uploaded the documents. I confirmed the signed documents uploaded. Rebekah called and wanted me to redo the process. I told her to keep scrolling down on the document to find the signed copy. At this point in time, I am waiting for 10 death certificates. 1 is to go to my Grass Valley attorney, and 9 are supposed to be mailed to me in Michigan. I have told them TWICE of my wishes. I have NO confidence that they will follow my wishes. I have to travel to Grass Valley next month, and if they don't get this final task done, as I requested, I WILL be making a visit to the Chapel. They really should refund my $48 postage expense to correct THEIR mistake, but Rebekah was speechless, as I stated earlier. To repeat, I told her, and another person, and it was in the contract, that the ashes were going to our hometown for final disposition. I would NOT use their services again. P.S. My sister's ashes sat on the front porch for 3 hours before my daughter and wife noticed the box. Thank God our neighborhood does not have trouble with porch pirates. P.P.S. The owner of the Mortuary called me and apologized for the error made in shipping my sister's remain from California to Ohio. He said he would reimburse me for the postage. Rebekah called to tell me that the check is in the mail. She also called to confirm that my lawyer and I received the death certificates. They did, and they were distributed as I requested.

When we lost my dad unexpectedly in April, East Side Memorial was very accommodating, very respectful with how they not only spoke with my family and me, but also with how they treated my father, down to the clothes he wore and even how they styled his hair for his viewing. He looked so peaceful, which brought us so much comfort when we said our last goodbyes. And what a view my father had from the viewing room!
