The good: The woman who was the cashier and server was lovely and gracious. It looked immaculate. She was extremely fast helping customers. The yuck: I got the lamb gyro but I didn't recognize the sauce other than knowing it wasn't tzatziki sauce. The woman told me it was mayo based and just suggested getting on the side, thank goodness, or I would've tossed the entire gyro if it was in it. I really, really disliked the sauce (and threw it all out). But the lamb was real and not processed and it was delicious. Without the tzatziki, it was all dry and the tomatoes were flavorless. They did serve a hummus-like sauce also and I used it but very little and I can't say I actually liked it; I tolerated it briefly. The grape leaves were six in a serving and also lacked the tzatziki, so I spit out what I ate in the garbage. It was very dry and seemed oddly greasy (?) I'm not sure but I didn't like it. I went to Whole Foods after and bought tzatziki but I'll eat it with something else because I finished the gyro and it didn't help the grape leaves at all. It may be a matter of what one is used to and I've been going to Greek restaurants for decades in many states and they've unfortunately all been better than the food I got here. To each our own. I'm not going back because they're a small business and I hope folks like it better than I. They had a number of diners there, so they had an appeal and I'm glad. I wish I liked it. read more

The place is adorable but unfortunately the food is just ok. I've never had a gyro with MAYO????? Gyros have Tzatziki sauce. It's not hard to make and really makes a gyro a gyro. Otherwise it's just a chicken sandwich. The babaganoosh had a burnt flavor. Like the eggplant was burnt and they hoped it wouldn't show if they made it anyway. Again, another really simple thing to make. Will not return. read more

When I order a gyro, I'm looking for that perfectly seasoned juicy meat sliced off the broiler and served on warm pita with tzatziki. The gyro here uses a slightly different seasoning that I'm used to but the lamb has a nice crisp char. Their Lemonaize sauce isn't what I was expecting but it was great - I'm always happy to try new things. Pita was lovely and came with a side of some great hummus and pita chips. The restaurant was about 1/3 full a few hours after lunch time when we came by but the lovely outdoor patio was completely open. Definitely worth the trip and I look forward to trying additional items off the menu. read more

I'm not sure what happened operationally, but it's quite evident there is new ownership or management because the food tastes different and customer service lacks. We used to patronize True Blue on a weekly basis however, that quickly changed. After our last couple of visits. we noticed Sam was missing. When asked about new ownership, our server replied "no" and stated that Sam had been on vacation. For those who may not know, Sam and his wife operated the restaurant. They both ran it like a well-oiled machine. The food was always fresh, full of flavor, and piping hot with temperature. Their customer service was second-to-none and they always made patrons feel welcomed. This evening, we decided to order from True Blue. A young lady answered the phone. We ordered a chicken gyro platter, lamb gyro platter, and cauliflower appetizer. Upon picking up, I battled several diners trying to pay for their meals at the register. Wouldn't you think a better method of payment would be the server personally taking their checks for payment instead of clogging up the front counter with unnecessary foot traffic? Once it was my turn, I advised of the pickup and waited nearby. A few minutes later, I observed a woman bring two styrofoam containers and place on countertop. There were two young ladies at the register. One making coffee and the other taking phone orders. After a couple of minutes, I received my order and left. Upon returning home, I noticed our order was incorrect. We received a lamb gyro platter containing basmati rice, salad, and pita chips and chicken gyro combo with just pita chips. The chicken gyro was supposed to be a platter too. Also, they forgot to include the cauliflower appetizer. The food tasted mediocre and basmati rice was less than room temperature. It pains me to write this review, especially since I'm a huge proponent of supporting local businesses. We would constantly rant and rave about how delicious True Blue was to others. Now we're skeptical. Hoping the new owners or management will read this review and correct the issues. Your loyal patrons deserve honesty too! read more

We were truly surprised by this little place in Emmaus on our way back home from Dorney Park. We love Mediterranean food, especially Syrian, but somehow I was disappointed. Every plate and dish we ordered was ladened with oil except the salad. I was dead set on ordering a salad because I'm eating lighter so I also ordered chicken. I did not know that ordering chicken required for me to know there were several choices. I received a shredded chicken of sorts that tasted like a Chinese stir fry. It was greasy and consisted of Chicken thigh meat. I expected grilled chicken like I've received at other Mediterranean restaurants. When I talked to the owner, she told me that they do offer two different chicken and that I could have gotten the grilled but she thought I would like the shredded. Really? Without asking me? It was my fault for not questioning it from the beginning. She offered to make me a new plate on our way out but we needed to head out. The salad was doused in tahini sauce as was the fried cauliflower. I'm just turned off by the pool of oil that it had when it arrived. On another note the beef gyro was tasty and was popular with hubby and my toddlers. The rice that we on the plates was also oily. You get my gist. Truly the best place on the PLANET for Mediterranean food. Quaint, not so comfy chairs ( sorry) but I don't go for the chairs... the FOOD!!! Are you kidding ME? The gyros are fabulous!!! The hummus! The cucumber salad!!! Omg. I'm a non- meat eater, so the buffalo shrimp gyros are absolutely to DIE FOR. Service is excellent, it's a small place with amazing taste. At first is was very skeptical about the 5 star rating but decided to try it anyway after actually reading the reviews. It was as delicious as advertised!!!! Lamb kabobs are to die for along with pita and babaganoush and chicken kabob and kids lamb kabob that my son likes. I think the best compliment any place can have is when an 8 year old remarks: "It's delicious here!" This is a great little place, the staff is friendly and the food is delicious! It's byob, the first time we did we finished eating and had half the bottle left. My wife and I have had the privileged to eat in countries throughout the Mediterranean region. We're not experts but eating here at True Blue brought back all the memories of our travels. The humus is light and fluffy but flavorful and fresh. It doesn't wack you on the head with Garlic or pungent flavor like some do. The in house Pita chips were a very good paring. The Lamb Kabob was not quite as good as I've had it in Istanbul, Turkey- but it was close. My next Lamb Gyro hankerings will bring me back to True Blue. My wife enjoyed the Baba Ganoush Gyro which had surprisingly bold flavors for being a veggie only Gyro. The basmati side and Mediterranean salad sides were authentic and decent. I would say the only thing I didn't love was the falafel, which, was actually good... but not great. It was a bit dense and heavy for my preference but the flavors seemed to be right on. Overall I would not hesitate to suggest True Blue as an authentic Mediterranean eatery and don't forget to enjoy the nice side patio on a good weather day! read more

Our son's baseball game finished early and we were hungry! Not being from Emmaus I turned to Yelp for some suggestions. I saw "Mediterranean" and cast my vote to try this restaurant. Very glad the rest of the family agreed. The food was flavorful, the staff was delightful and the restaurant itself was clean and comfortable. My husband and son went for the lamb gyro and lamb kebob. Tabbouleh, babaganouj and kibbe were my and my daughter's preference. Cooked to perfection and deliciously seasoned the food was on our table within minutes! To top it all off baklava, chai tea latte and Turkish coffee. YUM! The food is delicious, as expected. This is a tiny little gem in a strip mall. The patio on the side is great for outdoor dining, protected by a high fence. A simple snack like hummus and pita chips goes to a whole new level. Personal favorite for me is the steak salad...rarely eat steak, but it's wonderful here. Lamb is also delicious. As you would expect, vegetarian choices are plentiful and wonderful. Cauliflower main dishes are excellent. Be warned that, during non-Covid times, this restaurant is deceptively small. It is extremely popular and take out is constant. So the kitchen may be very busy. Still, food arrives hot and without a long wait. I'm giving True Blue 5 stars because of a recent catering experience. I've eaten here many times. Small inside (outdoor patio in warmer months) but great authentic food. I needed a restaurant for my daughter's last-minute outdoor bridal shower and we both thought of True immediately. "Zee" was very helpful, kind, and accommodating. We came up with a menu for the number of guests and he even delivered to my house. The food was on time, hot and delicious! The Baklava at the end was a hit with everyone.
