We went in here on a whim while driving home to Charleston from Myrtle Beach. We drove in and took one of the first parking spots on the right- I would not recommend doing that. It worked out OK with us but when we were pulling out we realized we were backing into the spot where people pulled into the establishment from the highway- seemed sort of dicey in terms of potential for a car crash. If you pull all the way in, the entrance road turns to the left and there are more spots back there. Next time that's where we will park. This Nursery is worth pulling into even if there isn't any plant you really need. It's a lovely place to walk around. They also have an enormous selection of all kinds of plantings for various different terrain, and lovely flowering plants. THere is an old Live Oak behind one of the sales buildings that is worth taking a look at. Just beautiful. read more

So far, I'm not a fan. I had to nag this place to get a response. Then the tone is rude and judgemental as they quote me $200 for a consult and the they tell me it'll be about 6 weeks before someone can come to my home which is maybe 3 miles away for about maybe 300 square feet of tiny yard. Bottom line is I didn't feel important in any way. The purpose of a business is NOT profit but rather to "Create A Customer" profits and referrals and a lifetime business relationship are all a byproduct of that. I have a huge budget...someone else will get my business and my referrals. read more

What a great selection of plants. I have been by this place 100's of time but had no idea it was this big. Very helpful employees. I have visited this nursery and it appears like your typical nursery. However if you walk around you discover the real gem this place is. I was looking at some geraniums and in fact I had some of my cart. I was happy with my selection until I spoke with Sheila. Sheila informed me that my selection would not do well with the light exposure that I have at my home and immediately brought me to a different breed. I selected several of that breed and brought them home and planted them. I was also looking for several other bushes trees and plants for my home and she escorted me around the acres of land to show me what they had that would look appropriate given my light exposure. I told her before I make a larger investment in trees and bushes, I need to bring my husband there. Meanwhile she continued to show me around to other plants that I wanted to place around my home. I am tired of going to Home Depot and buying perennials that seem to die and never return. It was wonderful to speak with the woman who is so experienced and knows the land and knows what will grow in the area. Based on all the information she gave me I believe I will have my perennials perennially. The prices are a little on the high side however Sheila is a plethora of knowledge and will teach you what you can have growing around your home. Sheila will also explain how to take care of the plants you have. I am so happy that I had stopped at this nursery. I brought my husband back the next day. We discussed the trees and bushes,that we wanted to plant and Sheila's suggestions. We still haven't made up our minds exactly what we're ready to do yet, but at least when we make an investment in yard scaping, we know we can count on professionals that work here. read more

Have to tell you how I appreciate the New Guy (I have forgotten his name) who was waiting on me. I did my grocery shopping and came to true blue for a Butterfly bush. I was really tired,but,I wanted that bush. So he asked me what I was looking for and I told him, here they were across from the hosts house. I said I didn't know if I could walk that far,and He said I will take you in the golf cart,he helped me picking out my bush and drove me back to pay for it. I was feeling kinda woozie,when I walked in he kinda steadyed me.And stayed with me till I was ready to leave,then he asked me where I parked,And I said way in the back,and he said he would drive me to my car. Last year I went twice and I knew I would take the ride from calabash again just because how wonderful this place is They go out of there way to help and so many great garden supplies truly some thing for everyone My Plumeria I purchased last year is doing great and you could see the quality of the plants make it it's worth spending a little more for a healthier plant I picked up a persimmon tree somewhere else for 35 this year I see there's are 45 and much healthier and much more advanced than the one I purchase if mine from somewhere else doesn't make it I will definitely go back and get one from them The employee with the mustered seed necklace was very nice and went over the top to help us She said how great it is to work at true blue To me that speaks volumes how places treat their worker read more

I seriously cannot believe that this place hasn't been properly reviewed yet! True Blue is the best nursery I've come across in this area, and mostly because it's so massive! If you want to go to Brookgreen but don't have the $, go to True Blue and just walk around. It's got everything you can imagine and I believe they can order anything they don't have on-site. They also had a large selection of tomato varieties that I was pleased to see, although I would've liked even more vegetable selections. The houses have gardening supplies and decorations, too, so they're worth taking a look inside. read more

Our 1st visit to True Blue and it was great. It is a little trip from Conway but worth it, they have a great selection, very neat and organized, helpful friendly knowledgeable staff, great service. We only spent $300.00 and need more trees and shrubs for our new landscaping, so we will be back. read more

We had True Blue specifically Patrick design our landscaping...it is gorgeous! We have received many compliments on how it looks. We had one large tree delivered and the edges of the leaves were curled. We thought it was because of transplanting it so we let it be and followed the instructions we were given. A few weeks later it was definitely not going to make it. We called several times and were advised it would be fine as long as we followed the directions. Needless to say it died and there is nothing we can do! Go BUY a new tree and have them plant it when they are in our neighborhood....I know they aren't guaranteed however, this started a few weeks after we spent a considerable amount of money there!l read more

As an avid gardener I have stopped at numerous nurseries in Illinois and in South Carolina since moving here. The selection at True Blue is the best in the area. It has the highest quality plants in size and form. As for pricing, it is definitely reasonable, particularly when you factor in the quality of their plants. As for delivery, I bought fourteen huge azaleas and they charged me $75 dollars. I am an hour away from True Blue. The only negative, you guested it . . . they are too far away and need to open up a branch near me. Pun intended. read more

Unnecessary surprises. True Blue tells the customer to expect to pay up to 50% of the cost of the product for planting. We purchased three palms for a total of $635.20, so I was expecting to pay no more than $320.00. True Blue delivered only a partial order on the scheduled day, charging $212. The remainder was delivered days later, for $297. By now the total planting charge is $509. Warning to customers: don't be surprised if the "50% maximum" turns out to exceed 80%. It could be more; we have only one experience (or is it two?) to draw from. read more
