Awesome response from Corse ------------- ORIGINAL POST Have been here twice in the last few months and both time the staff were friendly and helpful. This time we rented two bikes with my Girlfriend and when my back was on stand getting the pedals put on I noticed the chain was caked in dirt. I didn't say anything assuming they knew what they were doing. When the bike came off I checked the brakes and they felt pretty worn to me with late engagement. I asked the guy who had it on stand and he said they were good to go. We then drove over to half Nelson and the second I rode the bike I noticed that the top click on the shifter would bring the chain off the top chain ring forcing me to get off and fix it. I then had to be careful not to shift past top chain ring but it turned out top chain ring actually skipped under load so I had to go one down from that. When I got back to shop I told them bike needed major tune up to which the same person that had it on stand said well you had fun right? Which I said yes I did and then he sent us on our merry way. I would've expected an apology and a discount given bike was clearly not serviced or even checked before we rented it.

The next morning I found the back tire flat, so I walked it over to Corsa Cycles given their proximity to where I was staying. So, with bike in tow, I was directed to the back where the service stations were. There was already 2 people in line before me with nobody remotely close to the area. As we were waiting for anybody to show - another few people got in the queue for service and still no Corsa employees in the area. After about 10 minutes, somebody wandered up to the register asking if he could help the people in front of me. We found out quickly he could not since he'd been there only two days. While he was talking to the people in front of me, I noticed a person standing in the doorway talking to somebody I could not see. Said person looked over several times and could see a queue of 5 people waiting, but did nothing. Finally, the new guy went back to the doorway for help, and amazingly, 3 other people emerged from behind the doorway. Some guy, whom I'll assume was the highest ranking person of the 4 employees, blew off the first couple saying he'd have to order the part and didn't want to because they were in the process of moving. I stepped up with my bike and asked if they could quickly put in a new tube, to which he replied no, they were too busy and they had to prepare for the move next week. It was apparent to me that this individual didn't want to lift a finger to help anybody at this point in time because of the big 'move' activity they were all engaged in. I laughed a bit given there was NOBODY working on anything and 4 people standing in a doorway for at least 10 minutes. Worst case, it would have taken somebody 10 minutes to install a new tube. All that aside, what really pissed me off is what occurred next. I told him I was just visiting for 10 days and didn't know the local businesses yet, so I asked him where I could actually get my tire fixed. He knew exactly what type of bike I had and what kind of tire tube I was looking for - and knowing all that, this guy gives me the Bluebird Coffee Tuning and Rentals place. This place, as I would find out when I walked into the door, sold/rented/serviced nothing but RAD electric bikes. So, this Corsa employee, knowing I was new to Squamish, knew the Bluebird shop could not help me, sent me there anyway. There are some adjectives I'd like to use in this review, but it would distract from the point of horrid customer service and abject arrogance of this person.

Hawk is a man of many talents and a lot of life experience, but he chose to open a bike shop where he can combine his passion for bikes with something that seems even more important to him: having a stress free day, doing good work, and dealing with good people. That philosophy comes through immediately. Hawk is clearly not trying to cram as many customers through the door as possible. He takes his time, cares about the work, and genuinely seems to enjoy helping people. After my service I had a couple of questions about the bike. Instead of brushing me off or telling me to just ride it and see what happens, Hawk spent hours troubleshooting with me until we understood what was going on. That level of patience and commitment is rare. He also has enough stories, experiences and perspective to make a trip to the bike shop feel like something more than dropping off a bike for service. If you want a relaxed, personal bike shop run by someone who genuinely cares about his work and the people walking through his door, Spoke Haven is the place. One important qualification: you should probably be a kind person. If you are rude, or feel privileged or entitled in some way, keep looking. Spoke Haven is clearly built around good people, good energy, and keeping the day that way.

They rethreaded carbon fiber, and even made their own custom bolts, and fixed it within a week and she's back on the park bombing lines. All for a very competitive and (IMO) reasonable price. And it was done on time, as promised, with a friendly attitude and no drama. So; if you have a challenging bike problem, where most shops just look the other way cause, you can count on The Fix to take er on and get you back on the hill. We walked in and instantly James was very friendly, found the issue in minutes, fixed it, tuned some other things up and made sure my bike was in good working order before sending us on our way. I am not remotely bike maintenance oriented, he didn't make me feel dumb or stupid. Coal City Cycles absolutely exceeded our expectations. Our trip could have been derailed when my son's wheel was damaged during a ride. Robin and his crew rebuilt the wheel and had it ready the very next morning. The workmanship was excellent, and the wheel has been flawless ever since. While we were there, they also fitted my son with a new saddle, and he says it's the most comfortable saddle he's ever ridden. They didn't stop there--they helped another friend with a broken wheel, diagnosed an intermittent electrical contact issue on another friend's e-bike, and even set us up with rental bikes so everyone in our group could keep riding and enjoy the day. The customer service was exceptional from start to finish. Robin and his team are knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely care about keeping people on the trails. They went above and beyond to save our riding trip, and we couldn't be more grateful. If you're riding on Vancouver Island, I can't recommend Coal City Cycles highly enough. I've just biked home from the Bike Repair Centre on my newly repaired bike and I'm delighted by the…read moreexperience. I've tried out five other Vancouver bike shops over the past decade for various small and larger repairs. Over the past three years, I've been to three different bike shops because of a clicking sound and a ride that felt increasingly not smooth. A couple of places thought they knew what it was and fixed something, but the clicking continued with no improvement. The third place couldn't hear the noise and suggested I just wasn't getting the friction shifter for my gears exactly in the right place. When I brought my bike into the Bike Repair Center, John went over it with me and very quickly showed me a number of problems - a wheel that was ancient and causing vibration, a gear set and chain that were worn, and pedals that were worn out and loose, among other things. As I'm someone who doesn't have a background in mechanics, I greatly appreciated John's ability to quickly and accurately pinpoint the problems and explain them to me in simple terms without talking down to me. He was great with all my questions and seems to consider education about bike care part of his job. It's a slow season and he said it would take a couple of days to finish all the work, but called me the next day to say my bike was ready. The ride home was unbelievably smooth. No noise or vibration, everything feels steady and tight, and my bike feels much safer and infinitely more enjoyable to ride than it has for at least the past couple of years. I'm delighted with the whole experience and will be returning here for ongoing bike maintenance and repairs, and recommending this place to friends. He evaluated the work required and the parts required and I was in and out in less than two hours! I had read about this family owned business and other recommendations that his prices were extremely fair. As I waited for my bike to be finished several local customers brought their bikes in and told me of the quality service and the extremely fair labor rate and less than competitive prices on his parts.
