The instructor was professional, but not cold at all. They have a page as well for their special events, ranging from special classes for specific demographics to just lighter, more social, classes. After experiencing a serious injury in one of these classes from aggressive hands on, I requested a refund of the unused classes I would no longer be able to use from this debilitating injury at the hands of these instructors. After being told I would be given that refund, I never received it. Any amount refunded would have helped cover my $10k+ in medical expenses I've incurred due to this unfortunate situation. I have heard about yoga injuries but had always been in safe spaces with knowledgeable instructors during the last 20 years of my practice. I share this experience to warn others about receiving hands on instruction from this studio. It could end up costing you more than money and leave you with a lifelong injury.

Everyone is at a different level, everyone's body is different and she's excellent with coaching us to work by listening to our bodies. I was a gym member for 30* years. When I found out I would be traveling to Michigan for Thanksgiving, I knew I had to find a class in the area to satisfy my 'barre addiction.' I am so glad I found Relevé! Relevé is a barre fitness studio located right off Woodward in Birmingham. It's small so the classes feel more intimate and you have better visibility from the instructors. There is also a lot of parking available, so it's easy to just pop in and start the class (as opposed to a huge commercial studio/gym in which you have to park far away, go through locker rooms, etc.). I attended three classes when I was in town - one with Donna (cardio) and two with Beth (basic and cardio). They are both WONDERFUL instructors (with beautiful ballet bodies, so you know this class works!) and gave me very challenging workouts. They were both patient, knowledgeable and able to describe the different moves and benefits as we transitioned from section to section. I instantly felt the 'burn' and lots of good shaking in my muscles during each of our sets. If you are unfamiliar with barre, I highly encourage you to check out barre and this studio. You don't have to be an expert ballerina to do well- you just have to have a positive mental attitude and a willingness to work hard. You will notice changes in your body immediately! Everyone was very welcoming at the front desk. I signed a waiver before class and got a pair of grip socks which the studio allowed me to borrow for free (I returned the socks back after class). BARRE CLASS -- The instructor Roni was awesome! She provided great cues/directions for all the different lifts and moves. I loved the addition of small weights, a ball, and a resistance band. I most likely won't be back for a barre class just because this type of workout isn't for me. I prefer high intensity training classes, sprints, and lifting weights.
