He called back something like "sounds good" About 10 min later a woman knocked on our door & not very nicely, told us check out was at 10 & we owed $20 for the late checkout. We went up to the office & spoke with the owner. Customer service did not seem to be his priority as he would go back & forth between being snarky & not. In the end, we were not charged the $20, but the experience left a very sour taste in our mouths.

He also would not allow one of the people I was staying with to park his trailer behind the motel because there wasn't enough room..... which was not true! The trailer is a single motorcycle carrier! Long story short, if you can find somewhere else to stay in the highlands, stay there.

The assistant manager running this resort does not seem to sleep; she fills all roles, at all times of day and night. Gorgeous cottages facing Margaree harbour as well with adirondack chairs facing the ocean. Absolutely picturesque. My absolute favorite part about this resort (and the thing that will get me back) was that we were not nickle and dimed. 11 of us easily fit into 2 cottages and there was never a mention of the typical: Extra $30/person/night etc etc. Ie- two nights in these cottages worked out to $70/person! A great place to head for a couples weekend what with the close proximity to beach, golf and spa. Love this place! By the way, note the lobster pound. Lobster was so fresh that the fisherman were coming in to refill the tank almost as fast as we were ordering!

We were in one of the single cabins, which had a small bathroom and a main room with a small table and chairs, two double beds and a kitchenette. Having access to a couple of burners, a miniature fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and some dishes made eating easier. The larger cabins have full kitchens. There are also three charcoal barbecues available for use. The cabins were clean and well kept - nothing fancy, but I felt comfortable staying there and the service was excellent. The ladies working in the office were always happy to recommend a restaurant, show us how to set up the BBQ or make a call for us. There are lots of picnic tables and plenty of room for kids to run around, with a huge field behind the cabins. With so much room, it might have been nice if there had been a few more amenities available - maybe some soccer nets, or a badminton net or a small playground or something. The location here is great - located in Cheticamp, you can see the water (it's across the street - but a cliff, no beach) and walk or drive to most amenities. A small coffee place is down the street, the golf course is right next door, and Cheticamp has a pharmacy, NSLC, grocery store and several restaurants. There are also horse stables, kayaking, whale watching tours and other fun family activities nearby. It's a beautiful spot with lots of hikes and other things to do, and I easily could have stayed longer than three days and enjoyed myself. If you're looking for walkable access to the beach this place isn't for you (it's a bit of a drive, which can be frustrating) but it's clean, affordable and met my basic needs.

Located in an old home, it is quaint and clean. We ordered a Turkey Sandwich and due to the size, we decided to split the sandwich which was a good decision. We grabbed our sandwich and waters and headed outside to sit at one of the picnic tables as it was a gorgeous and sunny day. The sandwich was delicious. Fresh and flavorful and the bread was soft. The staff was nice, and the location was excellent. They have a parking lot off to the side with plenty of parking. We highly recommend a stop here along the Cabot Trail.

Donelda narrated and told us about what we could expect and some history of the area on our way to the islands. The journey itself was beautiful. A major highlight for us was getting to see bald eagles up close (right next to the boat) as she feeds them on the way. The tour could've been about bald eagles and I would've been happy! We saw lots of different types of birds, bald eagles of different ages, and seals! Lots and lots of seals. We also got to see the puffin breeding grounds and learned about them. That just made us want to come back and do it again in the future. Originally we didn't have enough people to take off (need 10, we had 9). Not everyone had shown up. However, someone asked if we could pay for the extra ticket and we happily split it with them. I suggest bringing cash, the credit machine was down. I was able to pay via PayPal but cash would've been easier I think.
