I have been a customer of tru green for 15 years. overall grass looks good but every year they automatically come out to do the first treatment and the price is way more than the previous year, Then you call them and have to bargain back down to a reasonable fee per treatment again. So I called up yesterday to start my lawn service with Trugreen. I got a quote and told the agent that I would have to check with my wife tonight. She immediately asked if my wife was home right now, so she could talk with her. I took that as a slight, but I let it go She was trying hard to get me to sign up for their services and finally asked me what was it that was keeping me from signing up? At that point I felt like I was talking to a used car salesman from the 1980s. It was such a turn off that I hung up immediately. Haven't these corporations learned that high pressure sales doesn't work in the long-term and only serves to turn people off to your product. It wasn't much of a surprise this morning when I googled Trugreen reviews and found tons and tons of complaints. They were bad company and I'm glad I did not sign up. I've been with Trugreen for several years. Everything worked fine until last year. They created a very "smart" schema to rip you off. When you sign- up for a new year and pay in advance to get " a few $$ discount", you don't realize that some of the services from the last year AUTOMATICALLY moved to the next year. And if you have not CANCELED each one of them INDIVIDUALLY, you will get a non-requested service and get billed. Nice! And after calling customer service-you get an answer- you can cancel if you don't like it. Nice! Not to mention that service is becoming worse and worse each month- maybe it's only related to our local Lehigh Valley representative. Absolutely the worst company! The picture of our green front lawn was taken on Sept 5, 2022. The completely dead, brown front lawn picture was taken on Oct 10, 2022. And yes, Tru Green was treating our property during that month. After requesting 2 times to have a Manager come out to look at this damage to our property, both times just a technician showed up. Clearly the Allentown manager has no interest in his customers. Today we were told that there's a disease on our lawn and there's nothing that they can do about it. So we are now stuck looking at a this disgusting dead brown lawn until we can hire real professionals in the Spring to fix it. And what's miraculous is that the "disease" that they claim that we have, didn't cross over to our neighbors lawn that we are attached to! The "disease" just happened to stop exactly at the property line where TruGreen didn't treat. Please don't insult our intelligence by blaming your mistakes on a made up disease that we never had before! Our first invoice from them is dated 8/17/22 and our last invoice was 9/28/22. And in total we wasted exactly $1,190.51. Unbelievable that within one month, they completely destroyed our lawn and have no problem wiping their hands clean by actually stating on the papework from the final visit from the technician "Lawn has melt out disease. Have been getting charged $107 per treatment for 20,000 sq. ft. In 2019. My wife caught them only doing 8,000 sq. ft. Called and complained, they said I'm entitled to a $21 per treatment refund. Save your money. They have a "guarantee" that is useless. So far since spring we have gotten exactly 2 services, meanwhile, people up the street seem to have them every couple weeks. I pre-paid which was mistake number one. My yard looks worse now than before. They never call you back and when they do its well, we don't have enough workers, or its rainy. If you don't have enough workers don't take on more work but then how come I see your trucks doing yards in my neighborhood but going past my house like it is invisible. I would do better with a bottle of weed killer. Avoid them, save your money, their attitude isn't worth it. Forget about talking to someone local who knows anything about the weather here. I really wanted to like TruGreen, and I have given them a chance, but canceling today's re-treat was the last straw! I have an L shaped yard which goes behind my neighbors. This has been discussed ad nauseam with customer service, the manager Nick at my local branch and the technician and I still have a line in my lawn where you can tell they stop treating. I specifically stayed home from work today so I could be there to show the tech what the problem is. Of course the tech cancelled through the app with no explanation or phone call. They call constantly when the want to sell you something, but not to get the job done right! I basically have a crabgrass farm in my back yard. For over $900 for the season, I feel like my lawn should look perfect! The biggest problem is the complete lack of customer service! I've had to call after every service to have them return to retreat. One time The tech came for a retreat and said sorry, but I've run out of product on my truck and you'll have to reschedule which means that I had to call the call center that is not even located in my area and explain what happened over and over! This company epitomizes what is wrong with America today. We aren't customers who need a service performed and our concerns addressed, we are numbers on a pie chart in a boardroom full of people who could care less about my lawn and who are only worried about their shareholders and profit margins! In summation of the below review. TruGreen killed my lawn after I had just spent $1900 to have new soil spread and seed. I was growing grass nicely until our treatment on 7/15 which was on camera. The TruGreen rep sprayed the young grass which resulted in death of the lawn. TrueGreen admitted to the mistake and offered a fix which never came to fruition. I had to spend another $500 to fix their mistake. TruGreen just took my money and killed my lawn. 9/18/2020 Update: The remediation plan that was discussed in August (Free Aeration and overseed) was added to my account. While waiting for the free offer to occur I met with three landscapers which recommended we start fresh and TruGreen remove the dead grass/weeds. Free service of aeration and seed offered by TruGreen as the remedy was scheduled for 9/16/2020. On 9/16 I received notification that the service rep was at my residence and the service was completed. My wife and I were home all day and no one was on our property. TruGreen rep marked the service completed which was a lie. I called customer care and was told that the service was marked completed and they would get ahold of a manager. No call returned from the manager. 9/9/2020 Update: TruGreen will not return calls. The Allentown office number is forwarded to the general call centered who says "we will send a message to the manager" who doesn't call back. The one occurrence that we were able to talk to someone they discounted the recommendations of three independent landscapers. Now they are not responding again. Ultimately I want them to fix their mistake in which they have admitted to making. TruGreen..... do the right thing here and clean up your mess. August 2020 update: After this review TruGreen did send a representative out to assess the damage. We came up with a plan for remediation. If the remediation occurs as communicated I will amend this review with a full update. I purchased my new home in August of 2019 and struggled to grow a lawn. Finally we had a nice yard for being only a year old and recently added a new section of lawn which was coming in perfectly. I hired TruGreen so that they could pick up where I left off, frankly my wife and I are healthcare workers and dint have the time given the current pandemic. TruGreen started treating the yard and that is when the weeds started. I never had more weeds until i started using TruGreen. I called to notify them of the situation and they said they would be out "free of charge". The TruGreen rep came out and spot treated the weeds, then a week later treated the lawn including the new area that was just starting to see some decent growth. A week after the treatment on 7/15 the new lawn was dead. It was dried up and had a copper/orange hue which is indicative of fertilizer burn. $1900.00 down the drain not to mention my hard work in getting it to germinate/grow. I have called multiple times to speak with a supervisor which is futile. I did receive one call back from the Allentown office but then never left a call back number to connect with them directly. The local office number routes to the main customer service number who says they will send a message to call back at a later date. I understand mistakes happen but how you rectify your mistakes speaks volumes for your business. TruGreen had an opportunity to make this right (and they still do). I'm not holding my breath and recommend that others do their own research and steer clear. There are plenty of other lawn companies in the Lehigh Valley that will be honorable and rectify/own their mistakes. read more

Hired to do aerating and overseeding. Did both poorly. Did a good decent job aerating the middle of the yard where the grass is lush but didn't aerate at all where it was needed, where the ground is hard packed: along the deck and house, around trees, etc. basically if the riding machine couldn't get close enough they didn't fo it. Too lazy to use the push aerator. Seeding was worse. The bare spots on the yard are still bare yet there are CLUMPS of seed scattered on the grass where it is growing great. Were supposed to come between 10:30 and 11:30 am. Didn't come until about 4:30 on a Friday. Only spent about 20 minutes on the entire yard! Guess they already were in weekend mode. DON'T USE. In considering lawn treatment companies for the first time in seventeen years at my home and TruGreen was one of my options. My neighbor uses them and his lawn looks decent, so they were on my radar. A few days ago, I was approached by two Tru Green door to door solicitors. I saw them coming, so I was prepared for them to tell me of a great deal they are pushing (as door to door sales folks always have to try to hook you in. We talked about my lawn and what he suggested that my lawn needed. Once he saw that I was not an easy sell, he started talking up a monthly mosquito treatment they have I needed that was $450 for five monthly treatments. I am on a quarter acre, $450 is super high for mosquito treatment only. When I said no way to that he then started on a tick tutorial, how evolved ticks are and that they can see up to 400 yards. I called him out on that and he challenged me to look it up. He then wished me a good day, without telling me the great deal they had going to make my lawn sniper thick and weed free. He was a poor representative for that company and the worst part is he was training someone. True Green is not a name I would trust. This is one of the worse run companies on the planet. Yes they help make my lawn look ok using lots of harsh chemicals. Which isn't that great in itself, but my problem is they bill me twice for every service. Additionally, this year to avoid their crazy billing tactics I pre-paid for 2014 and what do you know? Right after the first service I got a bill. I called to ask why and they said, my pre-pay covered the previous year. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I used True Green for two years and never saw a difference in my lawn. I stopped service and then decided to give them another try this year after discussing my concerns with the area manager. However, my lawn still looks the same and my concerns were never addressed. I reached out directly to the manager twice and he never sent anyone out to deal with my issues. I'm extremely disappointed I spent so much money on Tru Green over the years. I'll be hiring a local guy to do work on my lawn moving forward. BUYER BEWARE. DO NOT USE THIS PROVIDER! After expressing my extreme disappointment that this firm applied chemical lawn treatments before significant rain storms, did not apply the proper amount of treatment consistent with past applications, and based upon the video cameras on my house, I confirmed the treatments were not correctly applied or possibly not applied at all. The parent company agreed with me that the local office was not performing services consistent with their expectations. As they could not address the concerns. I was then put in contact with the Allentown office to discuss. When confronted, the local office did not deny the concerns. Rather, they told me that they'd reapply them but would not credit my account for the poor service. After being a loyal customer for many years and my lawn now not looking any better than untreated ones. I finally got wise to them and cancelled the service. In the end, this firm communicates very poorly. Is not concerned about providing good quality services to its customers, comes sporadically, and is only about the money. Had Tru-Green for a few years. Two weeks ago had a treatment that turn my grass from green to brown. Not only mine but two of my neighbors had an aplication the same day with same results. We all called for someone with knowledge to come and look at it. They promised to send someone out to evaluate our situation. They never came out. Although I prepaid for this year, this will be the last year for Tru-Geen. All of us are canceling the service for next year. I will never use them again. read more

Whatever you do, avoid using TruGreen. They have a great sales pitch but are totally unreliable. I cannot tell you how many calls I have received to 'reschedule' and it is not the end of May and I have yet to have my first application for the year. Additionally I tried the Soil PH service last fall and I was very clear about it being a 'one time application', but low and behold they came again the in spring and when I called they said the service was for a year despite me being very clear I only agreed to a single application. A guy came to our house to sell us the service. He did a phenomenal job selling and was very nice. When it came to the applications the first 2 were done on rainy days. Which their system says weather pending. We were told it wouldn't effect the service even though they are applying liquid. A month or so after that, I was greeted by my neighbor and told that they applied the application to her lawn. The stake was in her yard and receipt on door. Keep in mind she lives completely across the street on a different road. What are addresses used for if they can't confirm them. I'm joe H's neighbor who is also very displeased with TruGreen. I'll give you a 1 star since the young man they sent twice was very nice and tried to help by taking pictures and the customer service girls were nice also. We have called at least 6 times to have someone knowledgeable come out to look at our dead grass. No one in management has come and no one has called. We were told that they would come July 12 to evaluate not treat. We got a reminder call the day before) We're still waiting for that visit (it's July 14th)and another requested call. We also got a bill for the June 28 service of $111 that killed large areas of our lawn and will pay if and when we get some satisfaction.
