It's a simple fix that these guys missed. Stay away from these guys, save your money and go w/ someone else. I would recommend talking w/ your local Home Depot or Lowe's to recommend someone. These guys are overpriced and a disappointment.

The owner brought in an associate to take over the project, claiming they miscalculated the needs by 100 cubic yards. We are now facing demands for an additional $2,200, bringing the total demand to $7,700 for a job originally locked in at $3,000. Once the money changed hands, the business completely checked out and refused to remain involved. The final results left behind are completely unacceptable and require a costly overhaul to fix. The grading is entirely wrong, causing water to pool directly toward the house foundation instead of draining safely. Furthermore, instead of the permanent lawn seed promised in our quote, cheap rye seed was planted. Throughout this process, there has been an absolute lack of accountability and highly unprofessional behavior on our property. Our agreement and initial payments were directly with this company, yet the owner refused to oversee the project or honor the quote, abandoning us to deal with his associate demanding more money. Homeowners, protect yourselves before hiring: Never give a down payment up front. Get absolutely everything in writing, including the exact total price, specific soil amounts, drainage requirements, and precise seed types. Make sure the entity you pay is the one doing the actual work. Demand proof of insurance and call the provider directly to confirm the policy is active before work begins and what it covers. Don't pay anything unless the job is 100% complete and satisfactory. We do not recommend this business.

We had Jacob, the estimator, come out and give us a quote of around $6,000 (plus or minus a few hundred dollars) for a roof leak repair. The crew came out, installed a new rubber roof on our back sunroom, added a skylight, and did some carpentry work. The only communication I received during the project was a single phone call from Jacob, letting me know the cost might be a few hundred dollars higher than the original estimate. The next day, however, someone else came out asking us to sign a change order stating we owed an additional $3,200 on top of the $6,000 estimate. I could have understood $1,000 over, but more than 50% higher with no warning? That was completely unreasonable. Unfortunately, their fine print allows them to tack on costs without much recourse for the customer. Change orders are presented after the work is done, not during the process, leaving you with no opportunity to approve or decline adjustments as they go. In summary: East Penn Roofing does solid work, but their communication is poor and you should be prepared for surprise costs far above your initial estimate. Buyer beware.
