I paid TruGreen Danbury for the entire year up front, and once they had my money, getting help, answers, call backs, resolution, or accountability became an absolute nightmare. Trying to reach corporate is nearly impossible. Every time I attempted to contact corporate, I was redirected right back to my "local branch" -- the very branch that has shown no regard for my concerns. I called customer care multiple times asking for a corporate contact for a formal grievance, and I was told they do not have a corporate number to provide. Instead, they kept leaving notes for a manager to call me back. After multiple attempts, I received one phone call from someone named Mike. He left a message asking me to call him back. I did. In fact, I called him back 4-5 times and left 2-3 messages. Still, no response. It has been well over 48 hours since my last call and over a week since my first attempt to reach him. If you count all the times I reached out to customer care before that, this has been going on for several weeks. This branch canceled services without giving us any clear reason. They canceled two services last year that still have not been made up, and now it is 2026. They were supposed to aerate my yard, but it was obvious the work was incomplete. You can clearly see where aeration was done and where it was not, because the holes and machine trails are easy to distinguish. Despite my conversation with customer care explaining that the aeration was not completed, TruGreen still came out and fertilized the lawn. As a result, I have little confidence that the fertilizer will be effective, and I expect much of it will simply wash away. They have texted me scheduled service dates and then failed to show up without a call. My lawn has not improved at all. The most disturbing part is that for a full year of paid service, I have only spoken to one actual service person. No one has explained what is being done, what I should be doing, or how we can work together to improve the lawn. No one from the local branch has properly addressed the cancellations, the incomplete aeration, the missed services, or my concerns. Customer care told me the branch claimed they tried to reach me. But isn't that exactly what they are supposed to do? If customer service actually mattered, they would continue reaching out until they spoke with the customer, especially when that customer has already paid in full. I called the number provided, 203-501-8175, several times and left multiple messages with no response for over a week. I should not have to jump through hoops to receive services I already paid for. I should not have to chase down managers, beg for call backs, or fight to have missed and incomplete services corrected. TruGreen Danbury still owes me two visits and a complete aeration. At this point, it feels like once they got paid, my concerns no longer mattered. This has been frustrating, disappointing, and completely unacceptable on every level. No door tag was left on the second visit and I wanted to make sure I wasn't paying to damage my lawn with excess fertilizer. She launched into a rapid monologue, never understood what I needed to know and hung up on me when I asked her to stop talking over me. Terminated my service. If I could rate with zero stars I would. For 2 years they would send "Application Complete" receipt texts when there was never an application. No work was done, but we were charged. After 2 yeats of this, last week was the 1st scheduled application was texted complete but no one ever showed up and NOTHING was done on our property. I was done. I've had people stop at my house and compliment my grass. I retired this year, and bought an RV to travel and enjoy, so I passed the torch to TRU Green. What a mistake!! Don't do it. MY LAWN IS DESTROYED!!! Never tested my lawn as promised, they measure from Google earth view, and are way off. I've had four different applicators, each gets lost and knows nothing my issues. Today, I called to schedule aeration and overseeing. I confirmed this service for the week of September 19th. Later in the afternoon TruGreen shows up (got them on camera) and DESTROYS my lawn. Aerates 10% of the lawn, drops no seed, and looks as if they were doing donuts with the machine. I called customer service immediately to find out I was not on the schedule and they accidentally "serviced" my property. Great way to go into the fall. Mike is the manager over there who is completely unprofessional and doesn't return phone calls, this is the second time that trugreen ruined my walkway. I had premium bluegrass sod installed in November of 2020. In August, TruGreen sprayed it and killed it. First they blamed the person that mows my lawn. Then they blamed deer urine. Over the following two months, I called their customer service line 31 times and spent over 20 hours on hold before I was finally put in touch with the branch manager, Justin. Justin agreed to replace the sod over the phone and said he would send someone out to take measurements. The first person that showed up was a TruGreen tech that had no notes about the incident and did not measure to replace the sod. He pretended to actually be Justin for the first 15 minutes he was at my property, and then correctly identified himself. Another 4 weeks and numerous texts and voicemails to Justin and they sent out a third-party landscaping company to measure for the sod. However, that person "forgot his wheel" to measure the square footage. It has been a week since that visit, and now Justin at the Danbury branch has stopped returning my calls and texts. Repair of the sod has not begun, nor do I have a plan of action. I have received two independent proposals to replace the sod, both exceeding $10,000 in replacement costs. On October 4th, I sent these proposals along with a demand letter to the Danbury branch via certified mail. They have yet to contact me. I recommend avoiding this company at all costs. If you have a problem, their customer service department is friendly about recording your complaint and tells you they will refer it to the local branch. However, the local branch never addresses the concern and the customer service department refuses to contact you directly until you threaten litigation. We had TruGreen last year for the first time on our lawn. They quoted us a price with details of what treatments they would use. Then we called back when we had some questions and were quoted a totally higher price a second time with the same options. They were worried about losing us and came down on the price. They did not keep a consistent schedule through the spring/summer/fall. I don't think they have a proper scheduling system. The sales people or whoever does the scheduling never has a clue what's going on. We called and cancelled them in the winter. Someone came out in March and resprayed. I called and said we had cancelled and talked to *****. They claimed that never happened and we were due for payment and I said we had cancelled. Finally they agreed. A few months later, a man called and said our lawn looked horrible and had grubs in the dirt, and we needed this treatment and that mosquito spraying.... I let him talk and then said we cancelled you guys a long time ago and now use someone else. Our lawn is green and fine. The guy backtracked and said "Okay, bye." Typically lying sales people. Please be careful before hiring trugreen. My lawn was very healthy prior to signing on. Goal was to maintain health, spot treat clover and preventative cedar oil application for ticks.this was my first year I shopped around and decided to try trugreen. I do regret this decision. Directly after a application my lawn was damaged as seen in pictures. I was advised by a manager the tech used wrong treatment and too much of it which caused irreversible damage, chemical burn to lawn. There has been no resolution and manager has not been responsive to outlining remedy and timeframe to correct. Currently he said there is nothing he can do to correct the chemical burn.i am awaiting follow up however he is not responding. The application that destroyed my lawn was applied 3 weeks ago. Additionally my agreement was based on tick/mosquito organic cedar oil application which the manager says they do not offer now . It was in writing i signed up for this and only this type of application. They have not shared ingredients to what they do use although I have asked for this details numerous times. I was encouraged to pay upfront for savings which I did and the application window for all some treatment have passed. Overall poor customer services but more importantly they are selling one line of service but using other products not to mention allowing untrained employee to handle potentially dangerous ingredients. My husband and I was recommended to try Tru Green. He has taken care of his grass for 10 years, but it has gotten to much for him. It was a bad idea and terrible experience. The person they send didn't check the lawn first, just came and aerator the grass and seed. Anyone could see that the grass was already dead and needed a person that knows about grass. The aerator hardly put holes in the ground because the machine was terrible. Even the person knew the machine was bad because he said so also. I wish my husband and I read the reviews before we proceeded and gave them our money which now they won't give back saying they have to take half for a bad job. Do the job right send someone out to evaluate that knows grass, like the company states. They lied there was no evaluation. First visit last visit for us we cancelled that day. I purchased a lawn care treatment program and was initially impressed with how fast they came out to service the lawn only to realize that they had spilt fertilizer on my lawn and along my driveway. The spilt fertilizer made 2 huge brown spots and a trail going across the driveway. I tried calling at least 10x and always got a customer service rep that would tell me the GM would be contacting me. I never heard from the GM and even when customer service would follow up they would be surprised. It's been 2 months and still have not heard back from the GM about and cleanup or reimbursement that I had to pay to have someone fix my lawn. Fertilizing and weed control were fine. Problem was with aeration and over-seeding, for which I unfortunately had prepaid. After numerous calling and complaining, I had them come out 2 additional times to try to get a proper job done. Each time only random strips were aerated and seeded going nowhere near the bare areas that had been killed of weeds (approx. 50% of property was covered). You are unable to speak with a knowledgeable manager and they certainly won't come out to inspect the job that was done. I finally gave up trying and will concede the $400+ I shelled out for the treatment. Next year I'll do it myself and do it correctly. read more

I signed up for their service (Danbury office). To be fair, I do think it helped my lawn. However there is a charge I don't recognize. I have called EVERY number available for TruGreen and have been put on hold collectively for over 25 minutes with no response. My last call (after holding for 10 minutes) gave a recorded message that wait time was between 30-45 minutes. On the other hand, the sales office answers right away. When they can generate a charge, the customer service is great. To question a charge, Fuggetaboutit. I can truly say I have never seen such horrible customer service. I got constant texts trying to add more services. Definitely don't prepay no matter how good of a discount. I made that mistake. When I asked for my money back they refused and said they don't do refunds. Tru Green said maybe we'll try again next year. We are embarrassed how bad our grass looks. One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I had a one year contract with the hope for a beautiful lawn. After a year my lawn looks exactly the same as it did prior to the service. Called about a warranty and they said there is none because you have to water your yard. Well....I have an irrigation system and did water my yard to the tune of a 600 plus water bill.
