This was our first year/contract with TruGreen and our yard currently looks abysmal. We added on aeration services for an additional $200 plus charge and the service was done FAR too early when the weather was oppressively hot in Chicagoland. Why would the weather NOT have reviewed online prior to this service being done? My husband I assumed this was basic knowledge 101 and that it wouldn't have been our job to educate an entire lawn company on when to complete this aeration process. In addition, our final wedding application was done shortly after aeration was completed. The end result right now scorched, distressed grass with clear signs of crabgrass and nutsedge peeping out of our front yard. A portion of our backyard is green but also has a section that is scorched. Never ever again will we use this service because we're now having to have an entirely different company come out next week to address whether we will have to rip out the entire front yard and re-sod for the upcoming season. This company will gladly take your money and then does absolutely nothing in terms of proper follow up. Be warned. read more

my lawn hasn't changed yet but one thing I wanted to add is that customer service is the best, specially from corporate they really helped me follow up with my concerns. if I have to review customer service they are definitely a five star service! just because of customer service I still trust this company, I think they offer good products and services by sadly they have really bad representative on the field, I definitely don't trust their experts but will wait to see if they can turn that around. read more

Used them for 5/6 treatments last year paid in full at time of scheduling. This year they decide to come by unannounced and proceed to bill me $87 for a service that I did not request. Moreover, they didn't even provide any actual services just identified issues during that unrequested "service". Now I had to waste my time calling to get the bill removed. I feel bad for seniors and others who get scammed by their shady "automatic" renewals. Last year their devices I paid for were ok, sadly I won't continue to do business with them after this incident. read more

I was schedule for a service yesterday, they show up and it's starts raining. So after about 5 mins they leave and I receive an email that service wasn't completed. Rain stops within 10mins. Ok no big deal. Then I see an email around 2:30 that my service was completed, hmmmm no report at the front door, nor any markers in the yard that they did any service. So I checked my cameras and no one was at my house at 2:30 completed a service. But they had no problem charging my account. Take your business somewhere else. read more

They have been to our yard twice - the second time because their treatment didn't change any of our yard's weeds - and three days later, still no change to the amount of weeds in our yard...Maybe more. I pay these guys at the end of each season when they offer the service for the next season at a discount. Been doing it that. way for years. Today some outfit called EperiGreen came out and charged me #37 for my first treatment when I called and told them I never heard of them they told me they are TruGreen under a new name. They claim I didn't pay for this season at the end of last year so I guess I am out over $200 bucks. I refuse to pay this $37 and told them to cancel me. I hired TruGreen to make my lawn look beautiful not for everyone else's lawns to look better than mine. Part of my lawn has turned brown. If there was a problem, the correct thing would be for this company that charges tons of money, to correct the problem. TruGreen did Nothing. They even had a guy tell me grubs were the problem. Then a supervisor came out and said there were no grubs. While that area continued to get worse and worse, I got no remedy from TruGreen. I went to Home Depot and bought some fertilizer and a spreader myself 2 weeks ago. I raked the dead grass which made my back hurt for weeks. The area is starting to look a tiny bit better. So why do I need TruGreen? I DO NOT! I tried to call them today and Never Got Anyone. I was put on hold for about 10 minutes then the phone cut off. Next I tried to email them. No luck with that either. I NO LONGER WANT SERVICE FROM TRUGREEN. I am terribly disappointed and dissatisfied with your lawn care. I am writing this review because I tried to contact you and it was impossible to speak to someone on my cell. I later got a nice person on the land line. Told her to STOP SERVICE. read more

Worst lawn service ever. Charged my account $530 without permission and gave me h*ll to get a refund. They did not process the refund and I had to speak with several agents just to try and process my refund. The agents say whatever they want to secure a sale. Look at the rest of the poor ratings and everything is an echo here. Healthy lush grass prior to TruGreen and then after, it is dead. I would not recommend this service to my worst enemy. Take a look at the pics and you can see a healthy lawn, that was always treated by me prior to TruGreen, now browned out after their "treatment". I thought I was going to have less headaches using a service. Not the case. Good luck getting anyone to respond back either. Canceled TruGreen this year. When I spoke with a representative prior to services this year, the girl I spoke with took it upon herself to add services I didn't authorize ... I asked to speak to a manager repeatedly after I received the additional bills and - no response! So unethical. Last year I had the aeration & seeding where whole sections of our lawn was missed and what was done was so sparsely done you couldn't even tell it was done! Never again with that company! read more

I contracted with TruGreen to service my lawn. They did 2 applications for grub conrol and aeration. Our lawn was torn up by some animal after the application. I called customer service and they said too bad. They would not even come out to survey the damage. It says Satisfaction guaranteed, but not really. Hvalf the time they didn't even tell us they were there and what they had done to the lawn. Very dissatisfied with their service and they refuse to do anthing about it. And they can't kill a weed. Lawn care was scheduled yesterday. Got text message 9:52am that Field Tech arrived at property. Went outside and asked Tech to move back a couple feet so you're not blocking the driveway. The response I got was there is enough room for you to get out. It then replied more sternly for the truck to be moved back. (No vehicle was behind the service truck). As I was heading out the door I get a text message at 9:54am that the service was completed. What?!?! The truck is gone and already servicing my neighbors house few houses down. It was a simple suggestion and common courtesy would've been to not block a driveway in the first place especially when there is plenty of parking. I called to file a complaint that not only was I given attitude but the tech falsely documented service that's as never fulfilled. Don't trust them blindly. read more

This company is unethical and are a bunch of stalkers. They bought out eternally green last year whom I had service with. I called immediately to terminate service after there was no notification of a new provider. They also came and applied service in the pouring rain. After canceling they kept sending emails telling me they would be out soon to service my lawn. I just called again this spring because they kept trying to come out. Well today they came out and applied services. Had to call AGAIN. My neighbor is dealing with the same issue. What a nightmare. read more

This outfit sucks!! Over 600.00 a year for lawn fertilizer and I have the worst looking lawn on the block. They told me I didn't water enough! I've been with True Green for a long time. For some reason this year my lawn looked horrible. Weeds, crabgrass everywhere. Not sure what happened. You pay all that money and you expect your lawn to look beautiful. Contacted them they suggested aeration. Decided to do that.. They didn't contact me when they were going to come. Left piles of dirt all over my driveway and also damaged my light fixtures on my yard. Have decided to stop service. Do not recommend to anyone read more

I contracted tru green thru norm davis (supervisor out of michigan) Against my better judgement i told him i have an L shaped lot serviced from the front of the house and from the side street. He asurred me that it was straight forward does this all the time. norm told me he will put notations on the bill for the tech to follow . first time out the tech sprays 4000 sq ft leaves 60 percent untreated called I explained the situation L shaped lot etc . the office told me they will put notations on the invoice so that the tech knows what to do .they came back and redid the whole lot. trugreen came back for the second application ,tech sprayed 387 sqft yes 387 sq ft and left . i had the gate open he didnt bother to come in .no notations were ever put on the account. I made a service complaint they sent an email that my service was completed that 387 sq ft was a complete job . I believe it is time to move on . No customer service what so ever . read more

This is a horrible company! They were supposed to kill my weeds, plant and grow grass and create a lush, green lawn. Every technician was in a big hurry and did a 1/2 A** job. the last one killed the weeds, but damaged my grass. A service manager came out to assess. We agreed on 10 am and I told him I had a meeting at 10:30. He assured me he would be there at 10. Instead he arrived at 12 and blamed everything on me- the tree in the yard, the dog, the lawn mowing. He suggested I buy and plant grass seed. I called the office and asked them to have him call me back right awa so I could discuss his findings. He declined to do so. This is a complete waste of $550. I've been using them for 4 years now. The first two years were great. All of the many weeds in my lawn were gone. Last year and this year, they are making their way back and my lawn looks about as bad as it did before i hired them. I know they are performing the service...not sure why it's no longer working. My other issue is that they charged me two years in a row for aeration they did not perform. I rec'd texts both times saying the person was here performing the service and gave me a report of what was done. Meanwhile i was at home and no one ever performed the service. I'm not sure if both years, the person just lied about it, or if it's what Trugreen does, in general. Anyhow, just cancelled my service. Schedules to start services to begin on Tuesday with promises of calling the night before to inform of the time range, even if I haven"t arrived yet to open gate for the backyard, my front lawn woulld be treated. Promise that if I wasn't satisfied or needed to have the serviceperson return to spray again ommediately. Provided cell number and another phone number was requested, informed not to use the other number because it is a landline. The experience begins. Their salesperson gave me ALL LIES! 1. Never got a call on Monday about services. Downloaded their app and saw I was scheduled for Tuesday from Saturday until early Tuesday morning when the day of service was changed to Thursday with no call, text or email sent to make me aware. 2. Called to see why day was changed because the change causes changes in my schedule...Not available to open gate on Thursday. Waited on phone for 1 hour.. used app chat at the same time with 87 callers in line, 45 minutes and only solution is your next service will be free. 3. No call, text or call on Wednesday by the way....at around 3:00 pm Thursday to say would arrive betweem 4:30pm to 5:30 pm. Went to basement to work while awaiting the arrival, hear the bell at 3:22pm came upstairs was lookin outside at 3:23-3:24 GONE! ANSWERED ON RING BEFORE HE WAS GONE! Rong the doorbell and left immediately.. Called TruGreen again to have him return...a 3 hour phone wait and a 65 minute wait on chat. Called Sales...immediate response, informed by Sales that this happens a lot! Really? Not okay with me...should have sprayed the front lawn...literally did nothing but waste my precious time! No help from Sales transferred me to the 3 hour wait line again used chat while waiting on phone. Finally someone came to the over an hour chat wait. AGAIN WITH THE FREE TREATMENTS TO ACCOMMODATE POOR SERVICE! Requested to CNCEL services, informed the person could return and perform the services free of charge. Inform if he can return today but I would not end the chat and another hour long wait to cancel if he doesnt show. Received my first call from the service guy ON THE LANDLINE stating he called and phone wasnt answered. Informed of note onnumber which was there TO CALL CELL NUMBER! Stated he is far away now and can reschedule me...lol! Stated 'Besides this is not my route'! When is it alright to use that as an excuse to a CUSTOMER?? I still had chat and cancelled right away...bad thing is I prepaid. Waiting kn my refund! Have used them back ober ten years ago and loved the company then what happened? I have video form my NEST camera showing that they skipped my backyard aeration and it looks like I was seeded for two passes in the easement and that was it. I will hold back for now and see what happens next. I went on line and submitted a email. More to follow..... I changed to Green T service last year. Tru-Green bought their lawn service side. I went online & filled out my info. They called me, they're prices were too high. The guy gave me 10% off so I said I'd go with them. I gave him ALL my info including my credit card info. He said service wb starting within 5-7 days. The next they called and tried to sell me their lawn service. I told them I already signed up yesterday. The NEXT the called me SIX TIMES within 5 hours, each time trying to sell me their lawn service. On the 7th day they called to confirm my purchase... at that point I canceled because that company didn't know if they were coming or going!!! Very unprofessional. Took money out of my bank account without my consent and performed a treatment on my lawn I didn't order. When I call there, first I was hung up on by an ignorant person, then after being on hold again forever, I was told that since I had the service last year that it automatically renews like my electric bill! I said except big difference- this isn't an electric bill. After trying to negotiate a fair price, the woman just kept repeating herself in an ignorant and rude manner that she wouldn't reduce it nor would she remove the fee from my bank! I said cancel then.I asked for her full name but she wouldn't tell me. This company needs to be shut down for their fraudulent deceptive practices and how they prey on unsuspecting people. I can tell you that most of their profit probably comes from ppl like me who dont want to deal with waiting on hold and fighting with rude ppl so they just let the billing go through. Hey, if you subscribe to TruGreen or not be aware that their employees don't always check addresses and spray the wrong yards! That happened to me today, a TruGreen tech who apparently doesn't know address are in the front of a house just walked thru my yard spraying chemicals meant for my neighbor. So now I have chemicals on my lawn which I didn't want. My dogs can't go on my lawn for at least an hour. And my plan to go out and mow my lawn is on hold until those chemicals dry. And you better believe a called and let them know, but the damage is done! My own fertilizer schedule is now off by 2 weeks because of this ding dong sprayer guy read more

Terrible. They never show up on time, and have cancelled 25% of their supposed service calls to my house. When they cancel, they don't even let us know until after 6PM (after they are closed) so we cannot even call and talk to them. I've asked them to spray areas that have continued weed growth but whatever they are spraying doesn't work and they refuse to come back and take care of the weeds. read more

I called the number listed and after punching several Numbers I was told the waiting time is 2-2-1/2 hour wait or they will call back within that time. That is just ridiculous I never heard of a waiting time like that. Poor service still waiting for a call back. ALao every time I have service I do not know what was done because their printer is broke. Make them write it out then. I used to have TruGreen apply a weedkiller to my front yard. After thinking it through, we decided to stop the chemical treatments a few years ago. I continue to get calls from the company stating, "We're going to be back out to begin your lawn care soon." I continue to tell them NOT to come to my house because I have canceled my service for a reason. Nevertheless, the calls continue to roll in, regardless of my continued requests to be taken off of their call lists. I rated 2 stars because the treatment was effective while we had it but still frustrated that I have to waste time getting through the salesman calls every couple weeks. read more

We had TruGreen come out to spray our lawn for mosquitos. We have a very large garden in the backyard that we grow a lot of produce out of, and we instructed them both in person and over the phone not to spray it. When we checked our cameras later, we got the man working on film spraying our entire garden. This ruined hundreds and hundreds of dollars of fruits and vegetables. We called them a total of 8 times trying to get someone to come out and look at what they did, and no one ever showed up. We discussed a reimbursement over the phone with them during 3 of those calls, to which they kept on saying that someone will come out to discuss with us further in person. Every single time, nobody showed up. TruGreen does not take their business seriously whatsoever, as even corporate doesn't seem to care that their workers ignore directions and made all of our produce inedible. TruGreen is full of liars and scammers, and they don't deserve my communities money or attention. read more

TrueGreen has been a nightmare- they killed 25% of our lawn, gave them many chances to fix but never did. It was a cat and mouse game where the manager would not step up and take responsibility, rather hide behind the 800 number. However, their sales people and collectors where extremely responsive, annoying and easy to reach. It is not surprising why all the locations in the area have a 2 star or less rating. read more

This company is terrible do not use them . First they didn't do a good job taking cate if the lawn had some weeds pop up after they sprayed so I called them . They came out and over sprayed and killed a large portion of the grass . Then another guy came out and told me they over sprayed too much chemicals and burned out the grass . He also told me they have high turn over and young kids working there who don't know what they are doing . He also said they don't pay very well . Then a manager came out and denied the whole thing trying to blame me and making up excuses . So then I cancelled and they said they would credit me for the service around 38 bucks . The credit never came and they sent my bill to a collection agency . I called to complain and they had no clue . So I payed the bill for them burning my grass and had to treat the grass myself while one part is all burned up . Do your self a favor and don't use this complete joke of a company! I had this TruGreen years ago for several seasons and after I was home from work one day and saw the job they did applying the herbicide I was livid. They missed entire areas and did not do the parkway at all altho I specifically stated I wanted it done and the cost had been included in the estimate. I called to cancel and they kept coming out anyway and threatened to send my account to collections if I didnt pay - for the application I had told them I didn't want! After I had called and cancelled service! They nonetheless contacted me constantly at work and home attempting to sell more services - such as the grub control. (They like to push the grub control as an answer to any and all problems I have observed!) I mean like 2-3 times a day they would call! One time I returned home at lunch to find a TruGreen employee in my yard with a clipboard making notes on my shrubs and trees which of course he then tried to sell me treatments for. It was like a surreal nightmare hell dealing with them. I finally sent a registered letter (after sending a regular letter they claimed never to have rec'd) telling TruGreen ( yet once again) I did not want their service. I am wiser now - I would send a registered letter cancelling immediately and then contact the Attorney General's office about their abusive and questionable tactics - like after I told them I wanted to cancel their service them coming out anyway and sending a bill and when I balked at paying threatening to send it to collections. I will avoid TruGreen for the rest of my homeowning days and advise others to do likewise! read more

This company has been awful to work with. First, they are always trying to up-sell you on service...ALWAYS. Secondly, they would come to service my house and would never do the backyard even though they were contracted too. They would leave a note on your door saying "sorry they missed you" even though I was clearly home. The final straw was when they serviced my neighbors house instead of mine (gave them the bill with my name on it) and then I had to go through hoops (and their collections constantly calling me) just to get them to reverse the bill.
