I'm willing to give TruGreen a chance for one year. TruGreen Service was a requisite with my new Lawn Starter service contract for the 2023 mowing season. First service came 'on time' in December - service person left no info or name, but he did tell me what he claimed to have done. Late January - early February scheduled service was a 'no show'. I phoned and found out that I had been removed from scheduling by Lawn Starter for unknown reasons. I am reinstated and service person comes out in early March, speaks with me as well as leaving literature describing what he did as well as his calling card. Do not I repeat DO NOT use Tru Green services. I don't know what they put on my grass! It made it brown and hard. Burned my grass up. I was hesitant about using them after reading the bad reviews, boy I should have went with my instincts, thank god I was not on contract and did not pay for the year .. I prepaid for an annual plan to include aeration and seeding along with all of the other weed and feed applications. My yard was still overrun with weeds and bare patches even after having them come out three additional times to spray for the same patches of weeds. Wow. This seems to be the exact same complaint echoed across this thread. TruGreen completely destroyed our lawn. My husband has been attempting for months to get this issue addressed--or at the very least, to speak with someone in management outside the call center--but has never received a single response from the local manager. Every interaction is routed to a customer service representative who dutifully notes a call-back request... that never happens. We paid $1,000 for a service that literally killed our grass, and yet we cannot get anyone at TruGreen to even return a call regarding the damage. Not surprised at all that the ratings for this company are so low. Have been a customer for a couple of years with no issues. A month ago they came out to aerate and reseed my lawn, and whoever did the work damaged my yard in a number of places. I figured a couple of phone calls would likely get it resolved, but no, we're still going. It took me two weeks to get someone from the local branch to call me. When you contact TruGreen, you are routed to a helpdesk that has the ability to take messages and promise phone calls and nothing else. They cannot reach out themselves, they can't or won't escalate the issue when you are unhappy, and beyond promising you'll get a call within 24-48 hours, they have no ability to help. I've called so many times in the last month I can read their script back to them. When I had the "manager" out to my house, he agreed they did a poor job, that he'd return and fix the damage and make sure I was taken care of. He furthermore promised that the local number he gave me was his personal line and he'd respond to calls or texts. The "repairs" were shoddy, and when I called him to ask him to return, it appears he lied as texts go unanswered and the phone number routes me back to the help desk. Tru green ruined my yard. I've called for months and can't get a local manager to call me back. I used to have the most beautiful yard on my street and thought tru green could help me manage some of the maintenance. Big mistake. Also, when tru green would come they would throw some seed as they walked to the door and stick a sign that they were here. I am having so many problems with weeds in my yard, Trugreen came out two weeks ago, some of the weeds died, but new weeds are popping up, trying to get in touch with someone is nearly impossible. We live in Indian Trail NC and TruGreen came out on July 27th to fertilize our lawn and the fertilizer machine leaked and burned our yard. The back yard we had sod put down in March and now it's completely ruined. The front yard, which is at least 3 years old sod is now spotty and ruined as well. TruGreen did acknowledge that the damage was their fault. TruGreen has come out twice to aerate and seed the lawn. The first time, they only did the front yard, and it barely looked like they aerated and there was more seed sprayed on the driveway than on the lawn. The 2nd time they came out and aerated the front and back then seeded the lawn, but the seed was sprinkled on the lawn and didn't take. Honestly, it seems like whoever is coming out to do this is not even trying to fix the lawn, just trying to save face because it was ruined. We received a notice from our HOA that we will be fined if the lawn isn't fixed. An associate came today to fertilize the lawn. I told him no. Not after the last time the lawn got ruined. Because we are about to be fined, and any solution right now that TruGreen has taken has not worked to fix our lawn our expectation now is that TruGreen will replace the lawn with sod at their expense. I would never use TruGreen again after this experience and will go to Jason Stoogenke at Channel 9 Action News if this is not resolved. read more

We have had an awful experience with Trugreen. Everyone I talk to over the phone apologizes and then nothing happens and so I have to call back again with the same thing happening over and over. We have super patchy grass now with weeds with no one coming to actually do anything about it. We've had multiple no shows with texts saying that they were here. I was in my yard when receiving these messages with no one in sight. When I do talk to someone in person they always say they aren't the person that does that certain part of the grass. Aren't you a grass growing business? It's so confusing. I'm so frustrated with them and will definitely NOT be continuing after this prepaid year. What a disappointment! read more

My Horrible TruGreen Experience This was my first and last time ever using a lawn care service. I have always taken care of my own lawn, but decided to take a break. This was the worst decision that I could have possibly made. ISSUE # 1 - I contacted TruGreen and signed up and was quoted a price of $497 for the services that I asked for. I received an email and saw that my account had been charged two payments, totaling $623.68. I texted my account rep and she stated that she saw where it was cheaper to "bundle" the service and took it upon herself to add the additional services and extra charges, WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!!! I asked for a refund for the extra charges and only got back $82.23 instead of the $126.68 due to me. ISSUE # 2 - I was scheduled for service Monday, February 21, 2022 between 11 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. I stayed home during that time to meet and talk with the service rep. He never showed up during that time. I finally get a text at 6:32 p.m., after dark stating that the rep was at my house and then 1 minutes later, he sent a second text that he could not complete the service and left. Of course not, it was dark!!! I contacted the account rep and she came up with some bogus excuse that was unacceptable to me. ISSUE # 3 - The straw that broke the camel's back. I was scheduled for service on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 and again, I waited at home so that I could speak to the service rep and talk to him/her about my yard. At 12:44 p.m., I saw a TruGreen truck on my security cameras pull up at my house, just past my driveway. The rep stopped, remained parked and in the vehicle for 40 seconds, and then drove away. The rep never exited the vehicle or anything. I then get a notification email from TruGreen stating that the technician performed the following at my residence today: "WHAT I DID AND WHAT TO EXPECT" *Today, I applied fertilizer and broadleaf weed control. This will help thicken your lawn and improve its health and color as well as control weeds present in your lawn. You should see them curl within 7 to 21 days* NONE OF THIS OCCURRED BECAUSE THE TECHNICIAN NEVER GOT OUT OF HIS TRUCK ON THIS DAY!!! To say that I am furious, disappointed and feel cheated is an understatement. To me, this is fraud. On top of that, they billed me for an additional $40.46. In my line of work, we refer to his as fraud and or theft. I contacted the account rep and she told me she would check into it and get back to me the next day. She didn't. I contacted her the next day and she stated that she had escalated the call and I should be hearing something back. I didn't. She gave me a number to call (800) 458-4180 which rings in some Medical Alert System Mailbox or you get a recording that states this number is unavailable from your calling area. I contacted her back and she stated that it was a valid number. I asked her for a complete refund and an explanation as to why this occurred. This was on May 13, 2022. To this day, I have NOT HEARD back from anyone at TruGreen. I have not received a refund or an explanation of what and why this happened. They just tossed me under the rug in hopes that I go away and forget about this and keep my money. This breach of trust is unacceptable to me and thank God I have security cameras so that I could observe what actually happened. I have saved the file and if needed, I will present this in court. It only makes me wonder how often does this happen and people don't realize it. Or what are they actually spraying on your property? Is it water? I would never recommend TruGreen to anyway and anyone that does have this service, better stay on top of them and make sure they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. I called them to request someone come to review and get a quote and right off the back, the rep I spoke to came off very cocky and automatically assumed he knew more about my property than I did without even looking at it. At one point, he said..."do you want to me to explain it to you or not?" I'm not sure if he said that because I was a woman and I assumed I didn't know. I was very insulted. My thoughts is if you are coming off this cocky before you meet me, then I can only assume how difficult it would be to work with once you come to my home. With cameras all over my home, they say they come and do an application and just sit in their truck and then leave without performing any work, or other times they will do a 4ft section of just a side yard and then leave, I had a message just yesterday saying they were on their way, then at my residence and then performed and left my residence all with the exact same minute time stamp on them. Getting established with Trugreen was relatively simple- the person came and inspected and laid out the entire plan for the year- it looked promising. As months rolled by - the replacement grass turned out to be aesthetically poor, I even received a notification from my HOA regarding "weeds" in my lawn. In spite of me giving a feedback to Trugreen- the issue remains unaddressed- in fact the previous visit the the agent did not even step his foot in the backyard. I've had the experiences of the yelp below. This companys customer service is a minus 10. Like one of the reviews they came out and said they did my lawn I said no they didnt they did my neighbor who doesnt have the service. He said he would get the truck tracking record to see if he was at our home. Well it would show he was because he was across the street. Then they on their own started a tree and shrub service that I didnt request did one service charged me and I have tried three times to cancel. I get a call today that their coming out in the next 5 days to do a service. I called the number they could see any call about a service in the next 5 days. She said on we can do that I said for what she said preemergence and lime well that's been done I think or they said they did. They also did over $800 in damage to my sprinkler system a guy name John said they would take care of $400 of it of course they have no knowledge of this and the last text I did with him was never answered I think he was fired. read more

Called customer service and there was no record of me being called. Waited for my service to be rescheduled and finally it was. The two guys showed up and told me my yard was too big for them to do that day. They didn't have enough gas (not my problem), had 3 more yards to do after mine (again, not my problem) and after sitting in from of my house for 30 minutes they left. Service manager called, said he would get it rescheduled. It rained and they didn't show up-okay I can give them that one. Service was rescheduled. They never showed up, never called. Called the 800 number just to be told that the tech couldn't find my house. I haven't moved. The street I live on has been here since the 60's. I asked for a refund of what was left on my account. They spilled fertilizer in the street and left it. I had to sweep it up so our pets and other animals wouldn't be poisioned. I have repeatedly called Trugreen and sent emails requesting someone come out and fix my grass. This was not the first time they spilled fertilizer either. No one has been out. I am just finishing a one-year period of lawn service. It will be my last year. Cancelled yesterday after the latest visit. I was sitting in my living room when I see the technician almost running across my back yard pushing a broadcast spreader. Going as fast as he was, I couldn't see how that could be effective, add to that the fact that he made one round trip through the yard and out. He repeated this with the front yard. It didn't seem anything was being discharged from the spreader. When I went to speak with him, he had already moved to my neighbor's house (she also has TruGreen service). He repeated his speed act there and quickly loaded up the spreader and left. I examined my front yard and observed small white circular pellets with approximately one to three per square foot. Obviously not the amount needed to do any good for the lawn. This might explain why my yard showed zero improvement over the past year. I am not saying every technician performed as today's did because I have observed them over the year when they sprayed and aerated my yard. I spoke to a sales rep on the phone and agreed on having my lawn serviced. I tried 4 different times to call them again, to change or cancel my service, but I cannot seem to get past the automated system! I was on hold for over 45 minutes, the music stopped and they hung up on me (I suspect someone tried to pick up to speak but they accidentally hung up the phone). Like all the other reviewers I've had a horrible experience with TruGreen. As others have said, they were really nice when it came to getting the business but was downhill after that. Local management bites. Unresponsive. Uncaring. Had a tech walk to the door while he was on the phone, ring the bell, and walk back to his truck. Sat in the truck for about 15 minutes. Walked back to the door, drop off the ticket, walks back to his truck and drives away. Had one of their tree service guys show up uninvited and walk into the backyard. Another left a note with bugs in a bag saying that we needed our tress treated. How many times did you have a service performed on a day it was going to rain. Not a chance of rain, but storms? Too many to count for me. The grass between my sidewalk and street looked great because of all the fertilizer running down from the rain. And does anyone think that they were actually spraying liquid fertilizer from the truck or maybe just water? Based on the number of weeds I have it was probably water. Customer Service said that they would contact the Indian Trail management and have them call me. One month later, nothing. After I got back in touch with customer service it seemed like they knew how bad local management was at Indian Trail. TruGreen had one job to do. Keep weeds off my front lawn. NO. JUST ... NO. I've been trying since last fall to get my lawn seeded. First, they seeded the day before a hurricane (we all knew it was coming). Then, they waited until it was too cold to re-seed - so very few of the seeds germinated. Then, this spring, they re-seeded (yay!) but only a few spots (boo!) ...there are bare spots throughout the lawn that need to be re-seeded. Fortunately for all of us living in the Indian Trail area, there are plenty of other lawn services to choose from - most of which, I'm confident, are more motivated than TruGreen, Indian Trail. read more

This company is a joke. My husband set up for trugreen to come out to do a consult, and specifically asked for them to not spray anything until they discussed it with him. Instead they sprayed half the lawn with weed killer without his permission. He cancelled our next "session," and got confirmation from the account manager. Next thing I know, there's someone from Trugreen in my backyard, without permission. I work from home and was in a meeting I could not leave, so my husband called Trugreen to ask that this person leave the property. The account manager said he didn't show that anyone was supposed to be there - is this supposed to inspire confidence? Someone is in my backyard and you don't know why? My husband then called the 1800 number to again request that no one from this company ever set foot on our property again. Last week I had a knock at the door with yet another person - I asked him to leave and contact my husband by phone as I again work from home and you're interrupting my work day. He left a sheet with his recommendations about the yard. Really? Then a manager reached out to discuss why my husband, a "loyal customer for years" was cancelling. Very dishonest company. Terrible customer service. Have been dealing with issues of work being done improperly for 6 months now with customer service not responding to calls and emails for over two months. Most recently, a technician told my wife that fertilizer could not be applied because of pouring rain, then we were still billed for the treatment. To top that off, a service manager came to our house a month earlier and said that nothing could be done to improve the lawn until it was aerated and overseeded in the fall. So not only did the technician come out to apply something knowing that it could not improve the lawn, he tells my wife that it can't be applied because of the rain, and then we are billed for it anyway. This after several months of treatments for a lawn that they knew needed to be aerated and overseeded before any lawn service could actually be done with that. After several phone calls and an email on the most recent "service", Trugreen has still yet to contact me. They have billed me about $190, for either no work being performed, or work where they knew could have no positive effect on the lawn. Just to try to speak to a local representative, I have to call an 800 number and explain the issue to a customer service rep who will "pass along my info" to my technician then the technician is supposed to return the call within 48 hours - guess what? they never call back. In addition, after 10 months of treatment they started billing me again. When I called, figuring it was a billing mistake, I was told it was not a mistake - my service contract was up! I owed $58. I've since found out that TruGreen no longer uses commercial products since they bought out Scotts two years ago. You'd be better off treating your yard yourself vs. using TruGreen. I am actually shocked that in Google there is any rating on this group over a 1 star. Yelp makes it more of a realistic experience. I can't imagine that anyone offering positive reviews is actually a client. They must be bogus or paid accounts. I can't see how this company and it's executives or this branch, won't be in front of a government body and criminal charges to be applied. I have two properties that were destroyed. Both were great to begin with as we had our landscaping company provide the service. We thought this year, let's get someone more professional to even make it better. How wrong could we be. First, we prepaid for the year. To all out there, don't ever do that. They took advantage of that and just f**cked around. Both. our properties are unique, none of our neighbors professionally spray.
