DON'T HIRE THIS COMPANY! LONG STORY, BUT READ TO THE END... We have used this lawn care company with excellent results for at least eight years. If we needed additional services, the local Meridian, ID office was very accommodating and service was quick. Then everything changed in 2026. I wanted some help for a maple tree (pale leaves needed an iron infusion) and was told by the serviceman treating our lawn at our home they could schedule it when the temperature was warmer. A month later I called the number of the Meridian office about whether it was scheduled yet and was surprised to get a call service instead. Not the end of the world, but the lady on the phone had no clue how to find out. I asked for the number of the Meridian office and she said she either didn't know it or couldn't give it. But she would check to see when my order would be taken care of. During her TEN MINUTE SEARCH I could hear papers rustling and other sounds while she kept me busy with incoherent small talk. She never could find a date for me so eventually, thinking I would use a local number I had to call the office, I hung up. I dialed and got the same call service, but different person. Same conversation, same result. I looked up a number I used for eight years and dialed that one. Different person, same conversation, same result. Fourth try, different number, in the afternoon. Different person, same conversation, same result. Finally I decided to drive the 20 Miles to the office half to see if they'd gone out of business or hopefully get some answers from an actual employee. Got there at 3PM but office closed at 2PM. I sneaked in a back door and found a late-working employee. I told him my agonizing experience and the worker said sorry, that he hated the new system but could do nothing about it. BOTTOM LINE: I'm ditching this company after eight years and finding a new one that actually talks to its customers. read more

This lawn care service is fraudulent,they will take your money and give you no results. I made the mistake of giving them a second chance in 2025 after poor service last year. The person who sold me the contract Steve Lindsey said he would have to fudge the numbers to give me a price close to last year's cost. Like he was doing me a favor. I prepaid $614.02 for their Trucore plan. From the beginning I could see the service was not being completed. I called Steve several times to inform him of this, the only reply he would give me is that he would look into it (no help at all) So I decided to call the 1-800 customer service number. I talked to two different service reps Erica and Suri, both were very polite and seemed to be concerned about what was taking place,but I knew there was only so much they could do. I asked to meet with a supervisor. I was told Mike Watson the area supervisor/manager would be contacting meeting time. After I finally got in contact with him, Mike told me he was too busy and would be sending someone else (imagine that too busy). A few days later I met with Quin who was not a supervisor and said the condition of my lawn was unacceptable due to the lack of service and the next two services would be free they were not only one was free. How can you call a service free if you have already paid for it and it was never done ? I was Still digging up weeds by hand in September. This company should not be doing business. I was a long standing happy customer of TruGreen for many years. Fired them in 2024 because quality of service failed after COVID. Received a call 10 days ago (02/07/2025) from TruGreen asking me to reconsider hiring their service again & promised it would be better.... I foolishly agreed! Received a text they were coming out to do Spring service of our trees & shrubs & lawn! It's Idaho & we have snow on the ground with freezing temps. Know if you try & call the local phone number in Meridian, ID your call is going through the 800 number to other people in different countries or different parts of United States. What a joke! Wow, what a cluster F with these guys. Asked to be notified when they were going to arrive and they never did. Found a tech in my backyard twice and wasn't expecting them. We have 2 medium sized dogs and the tech could have been bitten. Also, the first time they said they had treated our lawn and trees, they lied. They hadn't applied anything or sprayed our trees. When you call you get a 1 888 463 9128 number after holding 20-40 minutes. The customer person won't know any of the names of managers in your area. Nor will they be able to give a local district manager to call and contact. They will give you a customer care number, different from the one you just called. Then you'll receive the exact same recording and then conversation that you just sat through for 40 minutes, to do all over again. No results. And then be told it'll be put in your notes. When told about the lawn being over a with billbugs and destroying lawn...the answer was "will give you a free application" The damage is already been done and now we have to retreat over in hopes to stop the spreading that shouldn't have happened if treated properly in the first place. Now new sawd and care at our cost is being incurred. Then when aeration was cancelled due to trying to fix this problem and watering grass. A tech 2# to be exact...could see the sprinklers were running decided to aerate anyway causing the grass to rip and leave holes. See pics... This company makes it nearly impossible to communicate with. Call? No, on hold forever. Leave call back number when prompted? Yes, but never heard from anyone. Ah, someone texted me trying to sell me additional services and promised to have the branch contact me! Never heard from anyone. So, how was the service? A TruGreen associate showed up at our house this last Friday to provide a service we did NOT request or approve. They proceeded to trespass on our property and then we were charged for this unauthorized service. My wife has called this scam of a company 3 times now requesting to be removed from their database and cancel whatever "plans" they have signed us up for without our knowledge. No wonder they have such abysmal ratings online, we never should have trusted this company to begin with. We hired TruGreen in hopes of a beautiful green lawn. We now have a full re-sodded lawn because of their lack of attention! From the start we did not get any results! We called them and told them that we found grubs in the lawn. They came out and left us a note that stated that we did not have grubs! We called back again and told them we pulled some of the grubs out and had them in a cup! They came back out and say they treated for grubs but we had almost half of our lawn eaten by the bugs you could just pull it up there were no roots left. Because this went on so long we had to pull out the dead areas and add new sod so that our HOA would not fine us! Now I can not get a call back from anyone at TruGreen! Locally or at coorporate! I feel sorry for their call center people they have been amazing at taking my calls and handling my frustration! unfortunately they can't help me! read more

These guys are super shady. They did my lawn treatment last summer and it wasn't great - tons of crab grass and thistles. They showed up a week ago and said they were here to spray my trees. I didn't sign anything. Didn't get quoted a price. I was given no indication that this was an upsell. They said "it's part of your program". I said ok that's fine. They came back a week later (yesterday) and said the same thing. I looked at my bank statement today: $54 charges TWICE. The Tru Green MO is to sign you up for crap you don't want without you knowing, bill you for it, and hope you don't catch it. Run for these guys. They WILL try to swindle you out if your money, and your lawn won't be that great for it. read more

My wife has taken the day off from work for a trugreen rep to fix our sprinklers. We got an alert that he was on his way around 8, when he hadn't shown up at 1pm we called and found out he didn't have the tools he needed. So he just DIDNT SHOW UP. Still calling trying to get some assistance though to little avail and much incompetence. Edit: private messaged as requested, heard back following day to reschedule. Final edit: Larry came out to look at my shut off valve and while there was nothing he could do to repair it, he was knowledgeable and had excellent customer service. Beware before you sign up.... If you change your mind about using Trugreen you will be in for a big hassle. They do not have any local office phone numbers so you have to call the 800 number and sit on hold for sometimes, several minutes to talk to someone sitting at a computer In Timbuktu. We verbally said we wanted to use the service two weeks ago but within a couple days decided to go with a different lawn service. We called the phone number immediately and cancelled . We started getting texts messages that they were coming out to service the lawn. I called Trugreen again and the girl at some computer somewhere assured me it was cancelled. I got another text a few days later that 'Angelo' was coming out to service the lawn that day. I called again and the girl said she would cancel it but it takes 24-48 hours to go through. She said she will put on Angelo's work order that it's cancelled but he has to open up the order when he gets here to see it. I guess the only way to insure that Angelo does not do the service is for us to sit at the front window from 1:00-4:00 and run out there to stop him. I wrote a very large email to corporate, but it is too long to fit here so I'll try to keep it as short as possible: Long story short: TruGreen didn't warn me they were coming, didn't even tell me my service was being renewed this year, let my dog out, put my dog back in without properly securing my yard (the way my property was before they came with wired fencing, wooden boards, and small black metal gates - all of which prevent my dog from escaping under the gate), moved my trash cans in front of my gate that they failed to lock, and left a casual voicemail stating none of this in the voicemail. My dog's FitBit/Activity tracker let me know my dog left the parameters so I headed home from work ASAP and when I called TruGreen to see if they let my dog out, the Operations Manager, Troy, was extremely rude, making excuses, and sounded like I was inconveniencing him even though it was MY FAMILY they let out of my yard. Made no mention of anything they did on the receipt/door tag, and still staked my yard with their sign. Ridiculous. HORRIBLE customer service from Troy, who should be in no position of leadership. There is way more to this story, but for the sake of time, I ended up calling customer service and spoke with Don(I think) and he was extremely nice. I wanted to cancel my account, but he assured me the manager, Joel, would be making me a very high priority and would be contacting me between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. the next day (today). Well, it's 12:40 p.m. and I haven't heard anything. I called around 11:45 a.m. to cancel my account. I am not surprised that this HORRIBLE company has 1.5 stars on Yelp. It takes a special kind of customer service to get that horrible of a rating, and I was stupid enough to not look on Yelp before using them as my service. I don't feel comfortable giving these people a single star. Primarily because they are almost impossible to contact. I have been told that a manager would contact me within 24 hours. That time elapsed and no one has contacted me to date. In addition, one of their workers sprayed a liquid on my grass which I suppose was some type of fertilizer. In addition to my grass, he dribbled the liquid across my driveway, on my sidewalk, or a walkway along side my house, and heavily in my lawn in a couple of areas Which kill the grass. That liquid dripping down my driveway created rust spots that are impossible to remove. I sent an email to complain because they are not reachable by phone and to this date over a month later I have not heard from anyone. I wish it were possible to rate this company a ZERO. Our HOA utilized TruGreen in the summer of 2020. While their work was less than excellent the real problem occurred when they did the fall clean up. The leaves that had gathered under the two Burning Bushes were blown into the lawn and left there. Bushes with thorns were cut back and the remnants spread out over the lawn and patio. The ornamental grass was cut back but once again the remnants were spread out of the lawn and patio. Lastly, rocks from the borders were blown into the lawn. My yard would have looked better if they had not done a fall "cleanup". read more

I called for a price to do my yard for a year.  Seven services a year.  I paid up front and waited for the applicator to arrive.  A few minutes ago, the applicator arrives and I walk up him as he is on the phone, with his phone on speaker.  The guy on the other end is telling Robert the applicator that they are not going to honor the contract for that price.  Figuring they were having issues with someone's contract I walk inside.  A few minutes later he comes to the door to tell there is a problem.  He said my yard was under bid, and they must charge me an additional $75.00 an application for the seven applications.  I explained that I didn't call them and demand they do my yard for a specific price; they gave me the bid, I agreed to their terms, and prepaid. I had to speak with Gene the manager who starts off the conversation by saying, "Well I'll tell you what we are going to do.'  I told him, "Kiss my ass" the contract states what we is going to do, you don't get to make that decision for me.  He replied, "You need to watch my language."  I said, "Why, did I hurt your feelings after you come out here trying to pull a bait and switch one me? Trying to charge me an additional $550.00 for a service that was already paid for?"  he said, "That's it I'm not spraying your yard, I'm canceling your contract and refunding your money." Update - Corporate TruGreen called. They apologized and offered to honor the quote. Totally different company than the local service provider. After discussing it with the wife we declined service. It's unlikely we would continue service next year after this incident. Gene the local general manager has proven he is liar, so I'm not confidant if there was a problem he would or could resolve it, and we don't want to take advantage of what seems to be a mistake. read more

I was finally contacted by the corporate office and elected to speak with the local manager here in the Treasure Valley. I was told it was merely a paperwork glitch (our account was never updated correctly) and that the service on our lawn was done according to the true square footage. While I appreciate the feedback, I am still skeptical as the billing indicated 'true' amounts of chemicals applied based on the incorrectly billed size of our lawn. I have two years of receipts indicating 'exact' amounts of chemicals/fertilizers applied that in no way correspond to the true size of our lawn. Anyway- the representative was polite and tried to explain what happened, but I still have reservations with this company. FYI, I did not agree to resume service with them as I will take my business elsewhere or just do it myself. To be fair our lawn looked good the past two years and we didn't experience any issues with brown/dead spots though a lot has to do with a good watering schedule. read more

I live in Nampa, Idaho (not San Francisco as Yelp has posted). I cannot contact anyone local. Tried live chat and after answering the initial questions and giving my account information, receiving a texted code and entering that so we could actually get started on my issue with them, I was told I had used up all my live chat replies and would have to wait for a service member to call me...104 people ahead of me in line...2-3 hour call back time! This has happened before. My complaints...year before last a tree and shrub technician (not our usual guy who is awesome, but a sub) sprayed my loaded apple trees ready to pick with so much spray it was literally dripping in sheets off the branches. This time my complaint is that after three applications on my lawn, my lawn looks worse that it ever has, dead spots, yellow areas. I am through. I pay way too much money for this. read more

I hired Trugreen for the 1st time this year and I have been very unhappy with service. My yard looks like shit, weeds everywhere I have had to call every time for someone to come out. Then after it had been 7 weeks and I saw nobody I called to complain and they told me they are short staffed and that I wasn't even scheduled for a visit. I am supposed to have someone come out every 4-6 weeks. They scheduled someone for today to come out and I was upstairs and got a notification on my camera someone was here I watched the guy out a sign on my door that said sorry we missed you. I ran down the stairs to go catch him and he was gone. He didn't even ring the doorbell didn't spray anything and just left. I called TruGreen to cancel my account and was told they would only refund half of the money even though I have only received 2 services and both were crap because I still have weeds in the grass everywhere. Supervisor was not there (shocker ) so now I am supposedly waiting to hear back from someone. Biggest regret ever I should have just used Zamzows. Don't waste your money read more

I cancelled my service this morning. For the past 4 days, I've been trying to reach them. The first day, the hold for a call back was over 2 hours. They never called me back. The next day was over 3 hours. They never called me back. Yesterday, it was a 2 hour hold, and then a 5 hour hold. They never called me back! So, I cancelled them and notified my credit card company to block them. The worst company to ever use. You can't do biz with a company who you can't reach. Pathetic. We paid for 6 lawn care services and only received 3, one of which was in February when there was still snow on the ground! TruGreen did not come out during June or July when our lawn needed it the most. It was impossible to contact customer service and get our issues resolved. We pre-paid for our service, which was a huge mistake! I called today because it still has not happened, and was told that no manager was available, and I would need to wait 24 hours to hopefully get a callback. DO NOT contract residential business with this company in the Treasure Valley area. I opened my service with TruGreen Meridian in June 2021 and have already cancelled (October 2021) as the local office has the worst service I have ever dealt with.  Not only do they not keep appointments or return calls, but they burned my lawn (attached are some of the photos taken).  If that wasn't enough, when I cancelled my service I was told by the customer service representative I would get the remaining money back and they managed to short me on that refund.  I paid in advance for a year's worth of lawn, tree, and shrub care and when the refund fell short, I called and spoke to a CSR who said he would look into it and call me back. I called back after a week as they did not call me back and I couldn't talk to him or a supervisor (via their policy) and no notes were made on my account from our previous conversation.  I've had to explain the issues created by the company to a new CSR every time I call!  Save yourself the headache, find a different solution to your lawn care needs. read more

Tru Green was the company who took care of the lawn fertilizing at our rental home. Interactions with the person spraying the lawns can best be described as odd. When I asked if the fertilizers were safe for our two dogs, I got a flippant answer as if I was annoying the technician. The last straw came when we were moving from this property. Our movers had apx. 10 more minutes left to pack our belongings. When the Tru Green guy showed up we politely asked if he could wait until we were done or come back after he finished other lawns in the area. He shook his head no and started spraying. Our doors were wide open, so the toxic smell wafted throughout the house and we all had to hold our breath walking in and out of the house. Based on these experiences, I doubt that I would ever hire them for our lawn care. read more
