If possible I would give this place zero stars. Awful is too mild a word to describe my truly dismal experience with TruGreen Lawn Care. I called and signed up for six service treatments in a year to help with my weeds. I didn't want any other service except for weed treatments in the rock covered beds around my house. The person on the phone said that the six treatments would be for the weeds in my rock beds. The appointment was scheduled, and I paid in advance. The time of the appointment came and went, but no one ever showed up. The following day I called their office and was informed that no more treatments were available for the year. But I signed up for treatment this year. I had an appointment for October. But no, they insisted that there were no more treatments this year. Furthermore, and contrary to the written confirmation I received from TruGreen, I was told that I would only receive four treatments next year instead of six. I spoke to four people before finally being promised that someone would come out to rectify the situation. But that visit ended up being a joke. The guy showed up, and spent less than three minutes on my property in total. He rode across my lawn on some riding machine, without going anywhere near any of the weeds in my rock beds. Then he left without even ringing the doorbell or knocking. I was home, and couldn't get outside fast enough to catch him. I called back asking what had happened. The conversations with TruGreen at this point were a nightmare. The first person said my service for the year was complete and hung up on me when I asked for a supervisor. the second person tried to "look into" what was going on. She said I should receive SEVEN treatments over the calendar year, but that they do not treat rock beds for weeds. After a futile attempt to resolve these issues, she refused to let me speaker with a supervisor or transfer me to cancellations. The third person I spoke with was able to cancel my account. He says I will be getting a full refund, in time. As a parting gift, the guy put a sign on my lawn, without my permission or knowledge. Assuming it was an advertisement, I went out to remove it. Walking through my large front yard to the sign, only to realize when I pulled it up that is was saying to stay off the grass as it had been treated with chemicals. So now I have to worry about tracking poison back into my house this afternoon and continue watching my bank account waiting for a refund that I hope actually happens. TruGreen's service is an absolute farce. I paid hundreds of dollars, wasted hours of my time, and am being told I would have never received what I asked for in the first place... not that any of them can agree on how many treatments I should be getting. They do whatever they feel like, showing complete indifference to their customers' needs and wants. Take my advice and the advice of many others on Yelp. Stay away from TruGreen. They are clueless, careless, and unprofessional. read more

Awful! I've had TruGreen for years. They controlled the weeds, but over the years my yard lost its thatch and eventually turned a pale green. This year, I had complete dead spots and no new growth. I could actually pull up on the "green" grass and pull out clumps without roots. I thought my yard had a disease. In fact I asked about it and was told they could treat the yard for disease. Then I noticed my neighbor across the street had them over there twice and his yard was looking even worse than mine. I decided to take it over myself. Within a week, my yard was greening up and now, after 2 months, no dead spots, plush green as ever and I can't pull it out in clumps! I don't know what changes they've made over the years, but this year in particular, their mix is even worse. If you're considering hiring them, read other reviews. My yard was on its way to dying. I was home in Box Elder when tech came by to fertilize & treat. He treated front &sides, but didn't set foot in the backyard. I saw him leave so I called number on back. No apology, just said they would text tech. And then she asked if backyard was covered & was gate locked. REALLY!! All kinds of excuses,but no apology for the blatant omission. My real concern is how many times in the past has something like this happened and they just put sign in yard. read more

I could never recommend this company. I had a whole series of lawn care paid for and every time they came out they would either step on or roll over my downspouts on my gutters and finally I got mad and cancelled it and the person on the phone said it was unacceptable that was happening and she would have a regional manager call me. That never happened. Then they kept calling to get me to use them again and I told every single one of them the story and they all said a regional manager would call me. They never did and I never got any money back for the services I didn't use after canceling. Run don't walk away from using this company. read more

Awful customer service. This will be the last year they set foot on my lawn! We had a lawn application on Thursday morning. When I got home form work on Friday I had several dead spots. After being with this company for 20 years, we are discontinuing all of our services. An area of our yard was obviously missed when they did the weed control, as it now has dandelions and thistles for the first time. They were unwilling to send someone out to remedy this situation without recharging us. Service has gone down hill in other areas of Trugreen, as well, since they are no longer a local company. Have had TruGreen for two years. The last treatment they performed was on a windy day (no idea why they would come out then - think of rapid's worst windy days this spring), got home and the technician was leaving. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and that maybe the application was successful however after a few weeks I had weeds sprouting everywhere So I called and asked for them to come out and redo the service (as is in their guarantee). The call service rep said okay and they'd schedule me. After a week and a half I call back and they said early next week which I agreed. Then I get a robot call about my upcoming services and talked about being billed separately for the services so I call the call center again to clarify... and they just tacked on their redo service with my upcoming billed service... why did I pay for the last unsuccessful service? It wasn't worth my breath, I'm moving to Warne Chemical. read more

I had to call this company THREE times to get this collections issue resolved!!! They did not call me back once! They finally did cancel the collection and the balance. All in all, their field service is poor, their customer service is poor, their communication is poor. One of the most incompetent companies I have ever dealt with. Worked with them for two years, yard looked great. They stopped showing up, yard turns brown, winter comes and start getting calls from their collection department. Come to find out they stop coming because I hadn't paid my bill, not only did they start sending the invoice to an unknown address they somehow changed my last name. I spoke to them 6 times on the phone before I could get them to send it to the correct address and they STILL never got my name right. I have two houses in Rapid City, never again will these fools step foot on my property. If they can't even send a bill correctly, who knows if they even show up to the right house. I have been pleased with TruGreen up until the last application which was July 17, 2019. I was not home when they did the service (or claims they did a service). The weeds are horrible, there was no weed kill at all. The following week they came to spray mosquitoes and I told the person doing that , that there was no weed kill. He told me he would report it and have someone out the following week. No one showed up. So, today I called TruGreen and told the lady the problem. She said they would come and spray for weeds but would charge me for it, I argued that I should not have to pay since they obviously did not do their job the last time. She hung up on me!! There service was horrible! They only sprayed part of my yard and while the guy was winding up the hose he destroyed my solar lights that was in my yard. I will be asking for a refund of my money. I can do a better job myself than using Trugreen! read more

DO NOT SET UP A PLAN WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!! I just got a bill that should have been sent to the previous owners of my house and when they called me to collect they did not care who set it up. It was my problem and when I refused, they told me that they will just as easy sent me to collections and then they hung up the phone. This is our second year with TruGreen. Our lawn is plush, healthy and weed-free, results we never did get by doing our own fertilizing and weed killing. This summer a TruGreen tech discovered a mite infestation in our evergreen trees. After a Google search and my own test to confirm that they were indeed infested and that it could kill the trees, we had them treat our trees. We have had no problems and are very happy with their services. We'll keep using them! read more

Terrible customer service. They bullied me for a service after I kept saying I'd like to speak with my husband he rebutted even more rude then said ok "someone will call in 5-7 business days to set up that appointment" then I call and cancel. I waited 25 mins for some lady to laugh. Hang up. Then I call back and wait again. I asked politely for my refund and the lady said. Ok you'll get that but I don't know when." Um what? I asked. She said I think it's 3-5 business days but I'm not sure. I asked for her Id number and she said she didn't know it. What a scam. Waste of money and my time! read more

There was a discount coupon in the paper, so I called. I got some sort of national call center. They gave me a price based on some "Google Earth" estimate of my property size. I felt it was too much and did not buy. The next day a local agent called and came out. The next day he called with a better price and I asked for it in a written contract. Later that day the call center called to get credit card info so they could start. I again asked for it I writing. It has been three weeks and I am still waiting. Consumer beware! They will perform unauthorized services to your lawn/trees/shrubs! Even if they call you and ask you and you say "No!", they will still schedule the service and bill you. Why are they getting a 1 star you ask? I'd give them a zero if I could. Last year I was impressed and renewed my service this year and added tree care. Yesterday the technician that goes by Heath M arrived and left without applying the treatment to my trees. He stated my gates were locked, which is 100% a lie. I have locks on them that are left unlocked 100% of the time. The ONLY reason they are on there is because my three dogs know how to open the gates and I do not want them to escape and get hit by a car. I called to complain and he continued with his lie saying he tried to open the gates but they were locked. I don't take kindly to liars. He will not be allowed to service my address going forward IF I keep my service. Today a technician by the name of William B had ZERO issues getting through my gates (which I have not touched since I mowed on Saturday btw, so that means they were unlocked) and LEFT MY GATE OPEN! Had that been the far gate, I would not have noticed before I let my dogs out and they would have escaped! I am beyond angry right now!!!! Unless they make this right, I will not be using TruGreen again. If something would have happened to my dogs, they would have a huge lawsuit! This company came out to our apartment building and sprayed everywhere and did NOT PUT ANY signs or flags up to denote that he had put down chemicals that could be dangerous for children or pets!!! I saw people walking their dogs and children running bare foot through the grass not long after it had been sprayed! I know that he put down herbicide because I asked him what it was. This is a crime. These chemicals can be absorbed easily through the skin! Plus, I see dogs chewing on the grass occasionally. Do yourself a favor and use a company that is truly "green" and doesn't endanger the most vulnerable among us. read more

Called this company to aerate my lawn. Was satisfied with the service but then the following year they came unannounced and aerated my yard again without calling. First of all we did not ask for the service on a recurring basis, and second we have a dog which was noted on our account. So even though they say "all our services are recurring" the fact we have a pet requires them to call ahead so our pet can be secured when the service is done. However, I nor did anyone in my household talk to them but they said they had a note on my invoice that read "talked to Joe", which is not true. I told them if I had talked to them I would have declined the service b/c we do not aerate our lawn every year. So, they either lied to cover their behind saying they'd talked to me, or to give them the benefit of the doubt they mistakenly made note of a call to me. Either way, they were unapologetic and did not back off their mistake (or lie) and I ended up paying the bill. Will never use their service again. read more
