What a surprise to find out that there was a play house in a small town like Versailles, but it was a lovely surprise. First of all, the tickets are only $10 for an adult and $5 for a child and there were many children there. The seats seemed to be the original seats, but they've been recovered as they were comfy and cushy. They were also wide enough to fit my butt, but not comfy to fall asleep in. :-) I understand that it used to be a movie theater, complete with a balcony, which is no longer there. As you enter, if you go to your left, there is a medium sized room which some very clever people have turned into an art gallery. There is also a small snack bar with sodas, popcorn and water for a $1 each...no gouging here. There are three restrooms, one for men, one for women and one for families. The line for the ladies room was very long during the intermission, so one of the older ladies commandeered the men's room! There doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the small theater, and the actors were kind enough to speak very loudly. The majority of the crowd were older folks who seemed to really enjoy the play. The parking on the street is FREE, although there is nowhere to go afterward for a cocktail or coffee. It seems like all the folks involved in the theater have been doing this for many years, and they are also volunteers. The love for the theater and their craft is evident...please support this little gem.

I certainly wasnt expecting the gem they call center stage, what a wonderful academy of performing arts. My daughter has participated in voice classes, theatre and Jazz and has loved every single one of them. She also participated in the aladdin production this summer and both my husband I was shocked at how well the production was performed and put together. We enjoyed it that much that we watched it twice. Everyone at center stage is super friendly and for what you get the prices are pretty reasonable.

It's so refreshing to see a venue, not gouge people unnecessarily. The drinks cost enough for them to make a tidy profit. We drove down from Kansas City to see Alison Krauss and Robert Plant and enjoyed the short 90 minute show. They mostly played songs that they had recorded together on their bluegrass albums along with a couple of Led Zeppelin tunes and one Robert Plant song called "In the Mood". They did a real nice version of "When the Levee Breaks" that was just released as a single. Parking: Ample parking and the lot is well cared for. Concessions: Better than average! Popcorn is fantastic and they even have all different kinds of popcorn salt/flavors that you can add for free! Prices are better than average movie prices. Lobby: The entire theatre has been recently renovated. I love their decor that focuses on some cult classics/ vintage movies. I want to like this theater. It is convenient and I like their popcorn bucket. However the last…read moreseveral times we have been there it has been hot and humid and the popcorn is stale. In addition they don't show the video of the pre show content. You can hear it but the images aren't projected. I hope they fix their AC soon. For now I will probably go to Grain Valley B&B.
