Terrible experience. I had a problem renewing online. The attendant said that she couldn't help me. I pressed on to ask her why. She said she didn't have access to the information. I told her I was stuck without a way to reach someone to resolve the matter. She said I could only use the online chat. I told her that didn't get me anywhere that's why I traveled all the way to the airport. She started helping another customer instead. I waited and showed her the response I received online and described how that wasn't helpful. She said she couldn't help me and to wait for 90 days to see if I get another response. I couldn't use TSA for that trip. read more

If you travel regularly; it's definitely worth getting. You go through an edited and expedited version of regular TSA. The website will take some effort and time to complete. Sometimes, individuals aren't able to make an appointment; this happens and completely normal. We just showed up at the SFO Pre-Check office after friendly guidance from the airport Information Desks. Once, you arrive at the Pre Check Center, everyone is very kind, helpful, and informative. So I've had three experiences with this TSA pre-check location. One was really great and easy. The second was a couple of years ago, With an employee at the time who may have been having a bad day, I'm not sure but she gave off the energy of someone who did not want to be at work there. And although I found the info needed to take care of my buisness at the time, the customer service should have been a lot better. Then, there was my final experience yesterday, which was so annoying and frustrating. So, Before I went to renew my TSA pre-check, I checked Yelp the night day before. I made sure this location was open and made sure the information was updated. I showed up at 8:30 AM, expecting things to be pretty easy. Yelp said this location at SFO opened at 7 AM and till till 4 PM. When I got there there is no indications on the doors of operating hours, there was nobody inside of the location and there was nothing even indicating that this location was still operational. I sat waiting for two and half hours (till 11AM), and there was nothing. I even went to the kiosk at the SFO airport to inquire what was going on and even the representative had no idea. She informed me that this particular location is one of the more frustrating TSA pre-checks she's ever experienced. In her words staff shows up when they want to. They leave when they want to and there is zero consistency with operational hours. She gave me three different phone numbers to contact a representative. But of course there was zero success with each of those numbers. I mostly received automated answering machines with zero instructions on how to reach anyone to figure out what was happening. I am going to do my best to avoid going to this location again. Because of this experience and from what I have read from other yelp reviewers. a lot of people had the same experience I had. It never ceases to amaze me how you can keep your job and be so incredibly rude to people. Oh wait... You just need to work for the government. I had to ask a bunch of people how to find this hidden corner of SFO, but finally arrived right on time for my appointment. The surly lady behind the desk didn't address me but rather asked me what documents I brought. "All of them," I replied. "Well, I only need your passport," was her response. Okay. Then just say that FFS. I was instructed to take a seat outside. No please, no thank you. Just a "sit outside, we'll get to you". The "pleasantries" continued once I finally got inside. I quickly realized that's how everyone got treated (including an older very disabled woman who didn't bring her paperwork) so I guess it wasn't personal. The good news is that it's a really quick in and out. It's been roughly 3 weeks so I'm hoping to get my pre-check any day now. If I renew in the future, I'll probably go somewhere else. read more

This is a review for the TSA Precheck Clearance location in the SFO International Airport, where you go to finish applying for your Known Traveler Number so that you can use TSA Precheck when you travel. I had an appointment and was seen right on time. Richard was SO helpful in leading me and several others through the steps to finish applying for clearance, and I have my KTN just a few days later. I suspect walk-ins would not wait too long at this location, based on what I saw before and during my appointment. Everything went very well! My appointment @ 8:45AM and admitted @8:20AM. I was interviewed by nice friendly officer ( mexican) in less than 10 minutes it's finished. *Few weeks ago my wife had appointment interviewed, and I asked the lady if she can put my name because I don't have an appt. It's baffling that customer service skills are lacking here,, like it's the airport. A place where you WANT at the very least adequate customer service skills... People are traveling, frazzled, anxious and confused. The lady at the office was chewing her gum loudly and obnoxiously... but the thing that brought me to make this review is the fact that not only were there no pleasantries like a HELLO but when she was calling peoples names to enter the little office she couldn't even stand outside, she kept yelling names while she was in the office and not even facing where the waiting people were seated. Standing there on their cellphones and conversing about pictures and what to eat for lunch. all while people are still waiting. Ultra rude people with attitude. If you don't like your job then leave. Painful slow process to get your global entry pass. Sit, register you name, wait, wait, and wait. Once you get in after a looooooooooooooooooooooong wait the interview goes pretty quick. Just expect to pay a ton if you park or have someone drop you off or take Caltrain if you can. Preregister online then come on in with the acceptable methods of verification to enroll. Good for 5 years, and $85 in 2015. Takes up to 45 days to receive confirmation, online may be faster. Service was great, I made an appointment online, walk ins are by arrival. Each appointment lasts about 5 mins. so all moves pretty smoothly on the front end. Trickiest part is getting here; head to terminal G, the international terminal and look for the Starbucks. Then find their sign. read more

It was quick and easy. No unnecessary waiting. Staff were professional and courteous.

I've missed my first initial appointment due to unplanned changes to my work schedule. So two weeks later I decided to give it a shot and walk in randomly. I got there during their lunch time and waited till they get back to the office. They welcomed me and after I explained the circumstances they put me front of the line and served me right away. Both the lady at the front desk and the gentleman in the office were friendly and courteous. The process took no more than 5-10 minutes and I was impressed by how smooth it went. Also, there's a great coffee on the lobby floor of the building so if you happen to have to wait a bit it's a great option to pass your time at. Overall I'm supper happy and didn't actually think that things will go this easy and smooth. read more

I was just relieved someone was here since my appointment at staples in south San Francisco was cancelled twice by TSA. I had an appointment but there still were quite a few people ahead of me. Only one person there to try and deal with people walking up in addition to the process .He got us all through just plan on possibly getting in a bit later then your appointment. I don't know were to even begin! I am writing this minutes after encountering the worst customer service EVER!!!! I think the TSA employee name is Lee not sure but he's Asian short and with a very bad attitude. So this is my story... I walk in with out an appointment as soon as they opened there was only one guy ahead of me who by the way did not have an appt either. The TSA employee asked us if we had appointments we both said no this made him very upset and started to shake his head and asked us for our passports and ATM cards in an aggressive way. When I told him that online it said walk-ins were okay he proceeded to say "That was a big mistake by TSA" (not a good representation for TSA). I handed him my passport and instead of handing it back to me he tossed it on top of the desk for me to grab, he was so mad that we had shown up without an appointments. So he helped the poor guy in front of me first and he was just so rude to him as well. Then I was next, he was the most disrespectful, bully, unprofessional person I have ever encountered. I have never in my 42 years been treated like this EVER!!!!. Through the entire process he was aggressive and rude I could not aske him anything. He asked me for my "alias" I then told him but he kept yelling at me about a question I did not answer on the application at this point I am in shocked that a TSA employee is talking to me in this manner so I finally told him to STOP talking to me the way he was and that he was being rude. He didn't even seem to care. I read all the reviews and they are all bad when it comes to this guy at SFO. The gal that works there Gloria is very nice and I feel very bad for her. I will be contacting TSA directly because they need to be aware of this guy. Got here at 10:30am on a Saturday, 20 minutes prior to my 10:50am appointment. One TSA employee trying to get through a line of 10 people waiting all by herself. Didn't get seen till close to noon. The TSA agent was super friendly, only took about 5 minutes once it was my turn. Need your passport, a license, and a credit card. $85 for 5 years to go through the speedy TSA pre-check line. SFO International Garage G parking is the closest, it costs $2 every 15 minutes. Be prepared to wait over an hour, so that means a $10-12 parking charge. Consider paying to park at San Bruno BART instead, and riding the BART in, it's cheaper. read more

1:00pm-- I was treated poorly by the attending TSA Precheck enrollment agent here. I came to check in for my TSA Precheck appointment and the woman, a Latina woman with long hair and glasses, was immediately unwelcoming, standoffish, rude, and had some sort of attitude to where she did not want to answer any logistical questions and just in general was purse lipped, snappy and rude. I imagine she may have been in a very bad mood, yet that is not the excuse to treat your guests poorly. The feeling I got was that I was interrupting her surfing the internet or something; that is to say that I was made to feel as if my appointment was a hassle, so I immediately went silent and just went through the remainder of the procedures quietly without saying an unneccessary word. Personally, however, this was a terrible experience for me and I left questioning how these people get jobs in customer facing roles that do not like people. TSA or not, they must be held accountable for their bad manners and workplace behavior and it is my hope that this review will correct this at the microlevel and at the macrolevel, Yelpers will also report on similar bad experiences as well. There is no need to be mean to airport passengers especially when they haven't done anything except check in. For the record, my previous visit was the same, another standoffish agent at the enrollment desk, which alludes to the real problem being in management oversight and quality control and administration of this particular office. Customer service and cultural competency training is desperately needed here. Some interesting notes if you're enrolling for TSA Precheck: I paid $85 dollars, got shit service from this woman agent, she was snippy and made me take off my glasses because she stated "she wanted a mugshot look". You can't really argue with these people, you can call a supervisor if needed but ultimately I decided to remain silent and report the facts for the traveling community to be aware of when signing up. They are not helpful at all, and they let you know that in how they make you feel. Not a great airport experience at all. read more

If you make an appointment ahead of time, you will be in and out of here in 10 minutes. My wife got there late, and they were still very gracious, incredibly polite and fast. It only took 15 minutes and that was because they had a problem getting her fingerprints (a problem my wife's had her whole life, so it wasn't TSA's fault). I'm assuming that the bad reviews here are a result of a) not making an appointment and b) subsequently having to go at odd hours when, let's be honest, nobody is nice. (Is it possible that the TSA agents were cordial and that you were grumpy and extra sensitive because you had to cut your sleep short to be there in the middle of the night? Hmm...) We filled out our applications online for TSA pre-check and came to SFO to get our fingerprints taken. We had no appointment, but came first thing in the morning. When we first arrived, there was no line. By the time we were done getting our fingerprints done there was a line of about 5 people. Pretty quick and painless process. The process was super fast with an appointment, I arrived 30 minutes early for a 10am Tuesday appointment and was out within 5 minutes. The staff member wasn't that friendly, but I didn't expect him to be. I went to register today for Pre TSA and the man who was working here had a very bad attitude. First without asking me why I was there, he told me that if I sign up, I can not use Pre TSA for 3 weeks. I did not have any expectation for the Pre TSA to start working for me right away :) Then he asked to sit and wait. I did, and I started to read my emails on my smart phone. After he ignored me for 20 minutes, he asked me if I had filled the form online on my smartphone! He never told me to do so, but he gave me a dirty look that I had not fill the form on my cell phone while I was waiting. Some of these TSA employees think that they are above all of us and they can treat people like dirt. TSA should think providing a better service for collecting tax money and $85 for TSA Pre. read more

One of the saddest experiences ever. The youngish blond woman did not even smile. Sure, it was the middle of the night, but this is the job you chose. Smile. She looked at me and said "if you don't have an appointment it's not going to happen." I informed her someone from her office had told me earlier that day to come around 3am and they would be able to process my request. She huffed and puffed, and told me I'd have to wait up to 3 hours. I said okay and sat down. She walked back in the office saying "unbelievable.../door slams" About 7 minutes later, I hear the door open and what happens next was actually unbelievable. She snapped her fingers to get my attention. I politely ignored, as I am not a dog. She proceeds to whistle at me. Again I ignore her. Then she yells "Hey!!" I turn my head and say "yes?" "Well come on" she retorts. I walk in, and by the grace of what-not, there's someone else in the dirty office, and they proceed to assist me... Appointment or no appointment, she represents a business and should not be so surly with people who ensure she has a paycheck. read more

Program is called "TSA Pre Check" with a check-mark usually substituting for the written word; this location is a designated enrollment center. Pre-enrollment process is started online; an enrollment center appointment time is scheduled as the final step of the pre-enrollment; the enrollment process is then completed in the enrollment center. Suggestion: make sure and know the difference between the (US Customs and Border Enforcement) "Global Entry" program and "TSA Pre Check" program and are in the correct location. "Global Entry" is on the International Arrivals (downstairs) level. "TSA Pre Check" (re: this review) is on the International Departures (upstairs) level, next to Starbucks. Less than 10 minute wait. Though employee did comment it was a "slow day" so I may have lucked-out there. Great, friendly, professional staff and, with an appointment, enrollment process was easy, seamless and took less than 10 minutes. Including some minor wait time while employee patiently and helpfully answered questions for someone else who was....in the wrong location and needed the "Global Entry" office instead. read more

Although I discovered the application should normally be filled out in advance on line and an appointment made to be processed, the office wasn't busy so Debra did everything for me on the spot. This place is a joke. The employees are worse than any government office I have seen. Due to a typo by the inept lady that did my application, my application went into limbo land. After many phone calls and wasted time doing the interview in person, I have to do it all again in 2 months because interviewer can't type. And I have to pay for it again. Walked in without an appt (11:30 Wednesday morning) and walked out 25 min later. There were never more than 3 of us waiting. It was super painless and I'd highly recommend it. I think the process was a lot faster because I had already filled out the paperwork online and signed up for an appointment later in the summer. (You also might want to bring some of that information with you - old addresses, for example.) The guy said it'd probably all go through in 2-3 weeks. Only downside - parking cost me $2 / 20 min. I'd say it's worth looking at an airport map quickly and figuring out how to get to the G parking structure before you go. (I ended up in A, and with shuttle trains and waits, it was $8 before I made it back out.) read more
