My company has an account at this branch but most of our use is via internet banking these days…read morewhich is probably a good thing. There are helpful people within this branch, they are just rather hard to find and actually keep hold of! The building itself is pretty old but easy to access being right in the centre of town and all on one level. There are cash machines both inside and out so if you are using them during opening hours and are worried about taking money out you can at least put it away in a purse/wallet before you leave and feel a bit more secure. The red sofas in the reception area could do with being replaced though as they haven't stood up to the wear and tear!

The branch is light and airy and the staff on the enquiries desk are really welcoming and helpful. There are private rooms for interviews or if you just want to discuss an item in a little more privacy. I have always found the service I have received to be honest and straight forward. They have often tried to save me money but I have never felt pressurized into taking out accounts that I haven't needed.

There is parking on the High Street though it is Market day on a Wednesday and Saturday so you may have to venture futher afield to either Tesco car park or one of the pay car parks in the town. The branch is light and airy, has a prominent welcome desk when you enter and there are four counter positions. The staff are very friendly and helpful and most have been there for some length of time so you really feel that they know most of their customers. Three interview rooms are available for privacy.

There is also an consultation area where you can talk to the staff about your banking needs and a more private room for the same. A telephone banking phone is at the far end of the bank for more privacy. There is a well stocked toy box for if you need to be there any length of time with your little ones. Well set out and friendly staff.

The staff are helpful and recently when i was in sorting my account the staff member was chatting with my children and gave them pens and paper to draw while we sorted stuff. Over all good, just annoys me I have to wait if it is not possible to use the cash machine or the paying in drawer (I prefer a receipt) There is a car park out back but it is often very busy with people double parking. But there are others in town that are not a busy if you don't mind walking across the road.

The layout of the bank is good - it is easy to see where you need to queue for various services. The Nationwide is a nice building society, no hard-sell, friendly staff and is open from 9-12pm on a Saturday which is very useful. My only critiscism is that the building is very small and the queue directly behind the cashier window. You can of course speak to an advisor in a private room but its a shame that there is little privacy at the counter. This however is a flaw with building design - not the staff in anyway who are courteous and discreet. As a customer I can recommend Nationwide highly.

The staff are really friendly and helpful, and even when it's busy it doesn't seem to take them too long to get through a queue of customers! When you get to the counter (eventually!) the rest of the queue can hear your conversation so it is not private at all unlike the one in Middlesbrough where the queue is further away but as this branch is so small everyone is right behind you. The staff are all different, a couple of really nice ones and a few that look annoyed to be serving you. It is also quite dark in here.

There's is usually a shorter queue for the help desk and the staff are always really helpful. They have private rooms for discussing your account in confidence or if you need to sort your overdraft, loan etc. Their 'quick pay' service is a small postbox on the wall and not very secure in my opinion. There are cash points inside as well as outside; the outside ones are usually quite busy. Overall, it's clean and tidy inside with friendly staff, it's just the queues that let it down.

On the upside whenever I go in, despite the wait the customer service is always excellent, and very rarely need to wait for an issue with my account to be resolved. They have 2 cash machines in the branch, which is useful because often the ones in the wall outside are being used by people who don't actually bank with natwest, so they rarely use the ones inside and they usually have little or no queue.

It has a number of cashier counters and an enquiry desk, and it always seems to be really busy and full of people. The staff are friendly and helpful, but I wish they would do something about the queues. When I last went in there I had to queue for ages to get to the enquiry desk, then I had to wait again for someone to be able to have a word with me. I only wanted general information about maybe switching my account from another bank to Nat West. They were helpful and gave me loads of information, but what I didn't like was that they asked for my name and address and phone number first! I just feel that's not necessary when I just wanted general information and hadn't even made up my mind. I daresay that directive came down from head office so it's not fair to blame the staff in the branch, but it did annoy me!
