It's always nice to appreciate spots of greens within the craziness of concrete but to be honest if you don't live in the neighborhood, it doesn't make sense to make a special visit to this park. It's a refreshing spot to take a break only if you are around. Probably the only unique thing about this park is it's made at an elevation. If you are a tourist you will be extremely disappointed, stick to Central Park and Prospect Park. They have a lot more to offer. read more

Tudor City Greens in comprised of two small parks that sit on either side of the Tudor City Bridge. These parks are in fact very small, compared to other green spots in the greater NYC area. However, they are set up nicely, and provide for a green escape when one needs to unwind from the busy big-city life. My friends and I were pleased to find these parks , as it served as a nice place to sit down and relax for a bit. There were people sitting down throughout the park and enjoying a sunny day out. Most folks here were locals, and mainly kept to themselves. This provided a peaceful environment, where we were able to take in the beautiful sights. If you're looking for a nice little place to unwind as you go about your day, give this place a try. read more

Woah who knew there was a serene park above at the east end of 42nd Street next to a sky bridge? For years on the west end 42nd St. I could see this sky bridge linking the two sides of the street that crosses 42nd St 50 feet above. And I always felt that was a perfect viewing spot for Manhattanhenge, and it was. But I didn't expect to find a small quiet park there too. There are stone steps on both sides of 42nd St and it is also adjacent to the steps at Ralph Bunche park at the other end that leads to the park once you climb up the steps. I think the park makes much more serene because of how it and the area, Tudor City is like separated from the rest of manhattan which is such a busy part of town where hundreds of thousands if not millions of people venture too. But yet you may find yourself enjoying the park by yourself or one or two other people. The park is mostly surrounded by a gate, but it's open to the public and you can find the entrance and just walk right in. There are plenty of trees and other greenery, and little stone walkways that lead to benches and chairs at various points of the park or walk to the bridge and check out 42nd St or goings-on at the East River. read more

It's a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Midtown. This is especially true when the UN assembly or some other big event happens at the UN and the traffic goes to hell. There's not much to do there, but sit, relax and smell the roses. Enjoy some quiet time so don't bring a loud and boisterous friend with you. read more

A beautiful little oasis in located close to GCT and Murray Hill. I really can't say anything bad about this place. It's serene and peacefully despite its urban surrounding. It's a great place to bring lunch if you have time. It's also a great place to be reflective alone, if you need some of that. I like many things about this hidden gem. Some of which are that you feel very comforted here if you're feeling down. It's like being in nature without leaving your neighborhood. read more

I've worked several blocks from this park for almost a year and a half and only discovered it this summer. I've come here a few times on my lunch break and it is so nice and relaxing. The adjacent street (43rd) is a dead end because of another park (Ralph Bunche), so there's a bit of a disincentive for most pedestrians to travel down that block. As a result, I think the park is much more serene than it might've been otherwise. Even during lunchtime, even though it's right across from the U.N., I can almost always find a place to sit. The park is surrounded by a gate, but it's open to the public -- find the entrance and you can walk right in. There are plenty of trees and other greenery, and little stone walkways that lead to benches and chairs at various points. Choose your poison: sun or shade (obviously one of these is more poisonous than the other) and relax! read more

I would often have my lunch here when I worked in this area. As parks go, Tudor City Greens is pretty basic. And that just adds to the charm. It is basically a nice, quiet place. It's amazing how the sounds of 1st & 2nd Avenues, and the city in general, just vanish. I really have to compliment the groundskeepers, because this park is really well maintained. Also, it is great to visit here in the spring when the flowers in the trees are in bloom. I have often taken pictures as I walk by. This park is a great place to just sit down and collect your thoughts, or to relax after a busy morning/afternoon/whatever. read more

This is a cool little park near the Tudor City Bridge, which hovers above 42nd street. I had never been to Tudor City or this park before this past week, when I ventured out to see Manhattanhenge, that weird biannual event where the sun sets perfectly between the grids. That was cool to see. The park itself is small and pretty, and the surrounding old apartment buildings are spectacular. If there was more to do around the neighborhood, I might even want to move there. I'm guessing that it's a great view from the Tudor City Bridge any old night of the week, and I'd definitely go back, Manhattanhenge or not. read more

Despite 42nd street literally splitting this park in two, the elevation above the busy roadway below really make Tudor City feel like a "city within a city." Government wants to ruin it though with the UN putting up a huge new skyscraper, ruining the open air views, sunlight and the parks!!! Hopefully this doesn't happen. The best place to disconnect from work, co-workers, workstations, workaholics... Perfect balance of sun, shade, and fresh air. Unfortunately, working on 46th and Lex, by the time I walk back to work, I've inhaled bus fumes, smoke fumes, and that oh-so-pleasant sewer smell by the Post Office. Nevertheless, I enjoy the walk and even get a share of cardio in by walking up the steps on 43rd and 1st that lead to Tudor City. When it gets warm, it's a great place to have lunch. I usually pick up some cart food from 46th and 3rd. My little peace of heaven. read more

When I used to work near the UN Building, I would head here (there are two parks, for what it's worth) for some quiet. One of the most serene places in the city and a good place to read, people-watch, have a picnic lunch with friends. Ample amount of benches and chairs, some in tucked-away niches. In May there are gorgeous jonquils and tulips, and they seem to endure longer here than most any other location in the city. read more

An adorable park that is very peaceful. I like people-watching, so you'll see mom's/nannies with strollers, the elderly taking walks, and families walking their dogs. The park is well maintained and there are a lot of trash cans around, so there is very little garbage. It's a great place to read or in my case-- grade tests. I have also seen this place get pretty popular around lunchtime. It's a nice getaway from the office! i'm looking forward to those summer nights again-- this place is pretty romantic place to take a stroll. read more

Came here this past Sunday to help out a friend with a photoshoot. It's apparently a private park, but anyone can get in. It's small, but very nice and quiet with pretty scenery. A tall man in crutches approached us saying that it was a private park, but he would allow us to finish since we were not disturbing anyone and probably because the models were not ugly. A random guy asked me to go an atm and withdraw money for him. There was no gun to my head though, so I obv didn't do it. Always making new friends. I probably won't go back to that park, but it is what it is...an NYC park. read more

This park is a beautiful secluded hideaway from the bustle of midtown. I stumbled across it by pure luck, but it would be easy to be in this part of the city and completely miss it. How cute! This is a little elevated park in New York that has greenery and amazing views via a bridge down 42nd Street. People congregate here during Manhattanhenge, which is when the sun sets directly in the axis of the streets. I think it's the perfect place to walk your dog or jog without the normal bustle of traffic in the city. read more

The most peaceful place in all of Manhattans east side, maybe even all of Manhattan. I cannot begin to explain the calm that this place exudes. The greenery and the overlooking of the UN is just breath taking. It a place that one can come to if there is a lot on the mind. Its always kept clean. No dogs are allowed, which probably helps. There arent many children there either so its usually quiet. It's truly one of the city's best kept secrets... hopefully it can stay that way read more

This park is better than Gramercy Park, because you don't need a key. The grounds are impeccably maintained, because it is actually a private garden open to the public at all times. Too bad Bloomberg wants to put a skyscraper on top of it. Please don't :( read more

most folks dont know about tudor city greens or to be honest tudor city cause its kinda hidden in its own space near the united nations area especially between 42nd st and a few block farther up. tudor city greens is a small private park with plenty of trees and nicely planted flowers and plants thats set up nicely so you can sit at one of the benches and soak it all up. read the rules carefully cause it not for dogs, loud music, no ball playing , no sleeping , no loitering and throw your garbage in one of the many trash containers or one of the many tudor city residents will give you a lecture. a bridge which you can exit and enter 1st and 2nd ave is above street level and is a favorite with many folks taking walks around the area. if you are entering from 1st ave the steps to reach the top may be a bit of an effort if you have bad knees or not in decent shape, if you enter from 2nd ave its not that bad as the sidewalk is on a slight upward tilt. i must say that the buildings on the top level of tudor city is as private as you will see for manhattan and that includes tudor city greens which i assume the folks who live steps from the park dont mind having . overall a nice private park area to relax at on a nice weather day for everyone to enjoy. read more

really beautiful and well-maintained. i love coming here in the winter when all the streets are gray and icy, but there is still clean white snow covering the flowers. the way the parks are positioned, you can see almost none of the city, which makes it extremely peaceful. the tudor city buildings are all beautiful to study, unlike a lot of the glass towers going up now. hopefully that new skyscraper on 42nd and 1st won't totally ruin this, but i have a feeling it will. so absorb the beauty while it's still there. my friends and i got chased out one night by a group of angry rats, but in new york it's forgivable i suppose. also attached to the two parks are two children's parks with jungle gyms and swings and such. read more

Truly lovely park in an area of Manhattan that is in deep need of a natural refuge. The strenuous energy of the city melts away when you enter the garden's gates. The park has a nice mixture of shade and sunlight as well as plenty of benches. I went at a particularly busy time since it was lunch time on a gorgeous spring day. The park was still a calming environment. I was a little disappointed that some lazy people left their trash out in the park. There were not many garbage cans around, but come on! How inconsiderate can you be?! Ugh... people... besides that it was beautiful. If you're in the neighborhood, make sure to stop by for an escape. read more

If you are stuck in Midtown and need a break from the concrete jungle and perhaps want a nice bench to sit and have your Thai sandwich or pizza slice or coffee this place is worth the short walk up the hill on 41st or 42nd. It is a historic park for the Tudor City apartments and it is a true breath of fresh air in a part of the city that would have been well served by a large park. But, since it is not well known to many people, I suggest it as a place to go and just take a break. I would also suggest it for midtown office workers who can get here at mid-day to chill out in one of the less hectic "green" or "public" space areas. It was the park around which the Tudor city apartments were built and it is nice that it was never destroyed. read more

One of the coolest little parks I have ever been in. The park is in a fantastic neighborhood surrounded by great trees (you could probably stand in the rain and not get wet under these trees, cool old benches, and a cool sandwich shop down the street. This park is beautifully manicured and is an absolutely wonderful place to read a newspaper (remember those) or book. There is simply a tremendous calming effect that emanates from this park. read more
