So let's be real, you get two types of tattoos. The kind that you have been wanting for a long time. Pouring in blood, sweat and tears to make it something original. Something you. Something unique that no one else will have. Something with meaning, a great back story so that you can sit down the next person who admires your piece and you can tell them all about it. Then, there's the quick, spontaneous, let's do this tattoo! Open the phone book in the tattoo shop section close your eyes and point! Okay, maybe not quite to that extreme, but you get the idea. This was one of those, "Hey! Let's get a tattoo!" type of visits. Or perhaps it was more kind of a mix. Let's just say it was a second try at a spontaneous tattoo session. The first attempt at another shop back home didn't turn out so well. Served us up a big heaping serving of disappointment. So here I am in hanging with my sister in Oklahoma. We had just had an eventful day in Pawhuska dining and shopping. I thought we were heading home, as the sun made its escape and we were kind of pooped. Maybe it was the coffee we had that gave us the extra boost, but a detour was set in place. Let's try and get our tattoos she says! She looked up Tulsa Tattoo Co. and said this was where we were going. Let's do it. The place is located off a busy strip with bunch of cute shops and eateries. People were out and about too, so we had to drive around a few times to find parking. Our luck found us a spot right in front of the shop. We walked in and were immediately greeted by two older gents. Jake and another fella whom I forget his name. They were prompt and inquisitive. After a small interrogation Jake had made it clear that he would handle my tattoo and the other would take care of my sister's. This decision was made because he had no idea what a "jigglypuff" was or anything Pokemon for that matter. Sounded fine to us. After a some discussion and an exchange of pictures an some doodling, or tattoo started to come to fruition. The guys were kind and friendly. We didn't find ourselves sitting around in an awkward silence which is always refreshing. As important as it is for your tattoo artist to skilled in what they do, people skills goes a long way too. Since we were just getting some cute flash art done they didn't take long at all. My little crab probably took about 15 min while my sisters jigglypuff on an ice cream cone called for a bit more detail, hers was fini shorty after mine. Overall, the experience was good. Customer service was on par and the guys got us in and out in a timely manner. The quality of work was as much as I anticipated so I was happy about that. Terribly rude front office staff. Prior to getting an ear piercing, I asked to see in advance the options. She brought out a book and admitted the photos were distorted. When I asked to see the actual jewelry, she refused to bring it out claiming it was already sanitized, then proceeded to make fun of me for asking. These people are rude. I walked in wanting a small letter on the inside of my heel. He was handwriting the letter and honestly it wasn't what I wanted. So I nicely asked to see it in a different way. I asked the artist if it would be better if I brought in exactly what I wanted so it would be easier for him and he got loud and said "I MEAN IF YOU DONT LIKE MY DRAWING?!?!" I laid the pen down and grabbed my purse to walk out because the tattoo that will be on my body for the rest of my life wasn't what I was looking for. He said "OH! Did I hurt your feelings???" Very rude. Very arrogant. His hand writing SUCKED. He made me feel bad and out of place for what I wanted. These people are ok with turning away customers and that just goes to show you he is content with the business and not trying to get better. My experience with Tulsa Tattoo was ok. It is exceptionally clean, bright, and the atmosphere is not dark and goth. (Not putting goth down, but not everyone is looking for that experience.) I was a walk in, and was greeted immediately. The man who I assume was the owner was the person who I spoke with. The was very polite, but not very forthcoming in speaking. I was undeterred by this because I am a professional artist, and I understand the artistic temperament. While I am friendly and outgoing some of my friends are not. I spoke with him at length about EXACTLY what I wanted, because this will be my one and only bit of ink. I had drawn a small artist's paint brush, with a flame as the bristles. I actually paint with a fire and this was important to me. I wanted single needle/ fine line, but he said "I don't recommend it, and I will tell you why"... He never told me why, but honestly I just wanted it to look exactly like my drawing, about two inches long, down by my ankle. I have found no one in this area who does single needle. LA is the only place I know of and the artist is booked six months in advance. He told me it would not work there, for various reasons, and it made sense to me. There are little white dots on the drawing and he said they would not be on there either. It made sense because the piece is only about 2 inches long. There is also a water drop on my drawing, but I did not want that on it. He traced my image and reduced it in size to two inches. He quoted me $70, and got to work. He had the premo position in the front window, so I assumed he was the manager or owner. It took him about 15 minutes to complete it and there was very little pain. I did not even flinch. He had warmed to me teeny bit and only charged me $50, by the end of my session. It turned out okay. Not bad, not brilliant, but it looks like a paintbrush with a flame on the end. I would like more red in the flame, and the white dots on the brush, the line about the flame is thicker than I wanted, but other than that, I believe he did the best that could be done, without doing single needle. The defining part of the experience was the man who made the tattoo. He was completely flat in the way he spoke to me. I mean deadpan. I attempted to find commonality and he always found differences. The reception area is in the back of the shop, which is a great way to draw people in. It is also raised a foot above floor level, and you feel like you are being looked down upon. In face you actually are. Anyone with insecurities or who is less powerful in their personality would be put of by it. Friendliness, being more welcoming, coming down to the level of the client, and looking for commonalities, would go a long way for this studio and I believe the reviews would be better. I wouldn't recommend my friends here. I'm only talking about the piercings. Tattoos I don't know. It was a okay place. I have been to other shops that make you feel welcomed. Brian isn't that welcoming. I was doing all the talking. Would I go there again? No. Brian didn't show me any jewelry. Only basic stuff. And I don't think the jewelry is high quality. They were in bundles. Then individually blue packages (like where the needles come from) You pay for what you get for. read more

This place is the worst. They couldn't even do a simple Medusa piercing correctly. Wouldn't give me my money back even after I had to come back because they gave me the incorrect jewelry for the swelling from the piercing being done WAY too high. Left a nasty scar in my face and their piercer should lose his licensing, if he even was licensed. There was no measuring that was done at all beforehand. Also the owner Brian is a rude little man who can't even keep his shop staffed or his novelty stuff in his shop running, instead expects the customer to fix it for him. read more

I have had two experiences at Tulsa Tattoo Co. Both were not great. The environment is depressing and the artists are not very friendly. The first time I visited I accompanied a friend that was getting tattooed for the first time. She was pretty nervous, and the artist did not help at all. He was short with her and wouldn't compromise very much on placement or design. The second trip I made to Tulsa Tattoo Co. me and my best friend were both getting our noses pierced. Went to ask for help to get a piece of artwork fixed from a past bad experienced and said with his "17" years of experience i dont wanna touch it and made it sound like im pretty much screwed with what i got. I went to these guys for my first tattoo back in 2014. I had no idea what I was doing or looking for and they took advantage of that. Rushed through the process, used one value of gray, even said that I was, "So easy." Ended up having to get all of it redone at Colour Studios. Do yourself a favor and don't go to these guys for a tattoo. read more

I got my nose pierced somewhere else and had a great experience, and they allowed a friend in the room with me while we were masked. I came here with a friend so she could get her nose pierced and they did not allow me in the room with her. Now I understand COVID protocol but a teenage girl should not be put in a room alone with a grown man? She asked if I could come with her and they again responded with no when she was clearly uncomfortable. read more

I went to get a matching tattoo with my best friend, you know something us tacky girls do. Just a simple heart on the wrist. Now I had the picture of the exact heart I wanted. While he was showing me different heart shapes, I kept telling him what I wanted and he kept making me doubt my opinion and what i wanted. My fault, I just agreed with him and get the tattoo he told me to do. I take full responsibility for that. I should've held my ground and tell him to keep looking. For the price I was paying for just a penny sized heart ($50) he didn't have to be so impatient and annoyed. Plus, this is gonna be permanently on me and I want to get it right. It wasn't even colored in, just the outline of a heart. So let's fast forward about 2 minutes since that's legit how long it took to do it. While sitting there waiting for him to put clear cream on and explain the after care, I noticed that one side was lopsided. But I thought maybe it was just me and the ink smeared. Plus the little girl that I am, I didn't wanna say anything or didn't have the guts to. I was hoping, so hoping it was just smeared ink or the angle I was looking at it. But once we got outside and I showed my cousin and friend and they also see that it's lopsided. That's when my cousin told me that he also noticed that it was lopsided when I was sitting in the chair but didn't say anything because he thought it was the angle my wrist was at. Not only is mine lopsided, my best friends heart was one side thicker than the other. Like come on really? A simple heart! You traced a simple heart! Now I have to pay someone to fix it, and they're probably gonna have to make it bigger or something. The tattoo artist is named Jake I believe btw. To be honest, the whole experience I never once felt comfortable. I don't think I'll ever go back unless they're willing to fix the problem or refund me. But highly doubtful. read more

This review is strictly regarding piercing: I've come in here a few times for a few piercings and each time has been a fantastic experience. Brian knows how to make you feel comfortable, walks you through what he is doing and is very professional. On top of all of that he is quite avid on keeping everything sterile which can definitely be seen as a number one factor when dealing with piercing. He is there to help with any follow-up should you need it, he's just a phone call away. Keep in mind he is not there Wednesdays/Thursdays. Their pricing is great and you can get a deal if you are getting more than one piercing and the prices already include jewelry unlike a few other places I have inquired at. CASH ONLY! ;) read more

I went in to get a Notre Dame Logo tattooed on my calf. A simple ND in 2 colors and the words Fighting Irish. I made the mistake of not settling on a price before the owner started his work because I was hit with a $280 bill for a utterly substandard piece of work. The line work is at best amature quality. I only wish I could upload a picture of my last 2 tattoos. One a beautiful piece of artwork done by Solid Ground Tattoo that I am proud to show off to everyone, and the other this over proiced error in judgement that I now have to pay someone else to fix. Both tattoos cost the same but the tulsa tattoo co is inferior in every way and I only show it off as a word of caution to the 300+ electricians and trades people I work with everyday. Tulsa Tattoo Co should be ashamed of themselves and the only way I would ever set foot in this shop again would be for a refund and apology which I am certain will never come. Came here as a walk in. Was greeted when I walked in and the lady up front was kind and informative. Came for a small tattoo that cost about $60 which is normal for the size. The guy who did it was the older gentleman. He seemed irritated that he had to do the tattoo and wasn't talkative. One of my friends with me was getting their first tattoo and not only was she nervous but the poor attitude from the artist didn't help. Was not a great experience and would not recommend. read more

When I went in to get my tattoo they were great. Jake was my artist. He did a wonderful job. Everything was clean. The reason I'm giving the review 3 stars is because I called ahead to get my tattoo touched up since after I got it I moved to OKC. So I wanted to make sure my time wasn't wasted. When I went in they didn't have me down on the books, Jake said that he didn't even do my tattoo. Granted the font wasn't theirs. But still I spoke with him two days before. On top of that he told me that he probably wouldn't be able to touch it up cause he had a line of other people getting tattooed. It was just not a good experience. I went in again to get my tattoo touched up. Scheduled an appointment and everything went smoothly got it fixed and he was kind. If you plan on going here I don't recommend it cause the customer service was not consistent. Overall the tattoo looks great, but customer service is a big deal for me. I have never been so disrespected by a business owner before!! My daughter and I went in on Mother's Day to get matching tattoos. I have never had a tattoo before so I was asking the people at the register about being in the sun after getting a tattoo when the tattoo artist/owner yelled across the whole parlor to come over to him. I did and then he preceded to ask me how tanning works? I was like what? He told me it was like being cooked like a roast! I was like ok am I able to protect the area from the sun when I go outside? He still would not answer except to continue to talk to me very rudely and said he wasn't going to give me a tattoo because he knew I wasn't going to follow his aftercare and to move on. He obviously was judging me for asking questions and u just needed information. It upset so much I left in tears on Mother's Day. I have my own business and I would never treat anyone with this kind of disrespect!!! read more
