Not only is Shelby VERY knowledgeable about the body and diagnosing areas of strength/weakness/injury, she also is very passionate about helping you see and feel results. I worked out with her twice a week for about a year all the way through the final few weeks of my first pregnancy. She (and Pilates) really helped me prepare for having a baby physically and mentally. There were many days when the nausea and exhaustion that can sometimes come with pregnancy would make me want to miss a class, but I knew I would be encouraged and glad to have made it once I got to spend time with Shelby and Brooke. I couldn't imagine what I would be like without having been introduced to Pilates. If you're looking for a work out that is carefully designed for your level of experience, or even just a new way of thinking about how your body is designed to maintain proper health, then certainly I would recommend Studio Six. I've been to many other yoga studios, taken lots of gym classes, and worked out with trainers, but Shelby tops them all in terms of knowledge about the body and health. I have had individual sessions with their newest teacher, Sofia, and have been to two group classes now with Jacqueline. I DEEPLY appreciate that the group classes are small enough that each student receives individual attention. I have had scoliosis all my life and I rely on Pilates to help unravel and realign my spine and improve my overall posture, which takes a thoughtful instructor who incorporates stretching and addresses alignment and fine movements. It's SO difficult to find group Pilates classes that feel thoughtful as well as give a great workout, and I'm overjoyed to have encountered the Pilates Place to continue my practice while I'm away from my home studio in Gramercy. This studio also has the Konnector system (four straps!) on their reformers; I've never used it before and it adds a new element of balance and body awareness to the practice that I've never experienced! Traci is an excellent instructor who emphasizes correct form and engaging your core. She gives a lot of personal attention and pushes you just enough to get a good workout without leaving you totally unable to move the next day. :). This is the only exercise class that I have found that I actually enjoy. She encourages me to push past my natural laziness and the hour flies by, but the next day I can definitely feel that I've done something! The atmosphere is relaxed and the women in the classes are all ages, sizes and fitness levels. I highly recommend Hourglass Pilates.

If you okay with strict rules and want a great workout this place is for you. We love their workout structure. The cardio sculpt & the TRX classes are our favorite. The equipment and the instructors help to keep your form correct as opposed to actual Pilates that requires more discipline in my opinion.

The class was fairly challenging but there were options to make it easier or harder, depending on your level. Afterwards we were able to enjoy the spa amenities! They had various rooms and devices. We did 40min in the dry sauna, rinsed off, a couple minutes in the red light, and finished with a couple minutes in the cold plunge. The sauna and cold plunges were able to accommodate two persons at once so I can see this being a great couples activity. Afterwards my body felt so amazing and relaxed! All the spaces were so clean and felt new. The bathrooms were very clean as well and provided shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the showers. I believe we met the owner at the front desk and she was so sweet and accommodating. She helped us navigate all the spaces of the spa and provided clean towels and eye masks. I'm not local to Sacramento but I'm definitely paying this place another visit whenever I'm back in town. Highly recommend!

Also, the staff here are one of the biggest reasons that makes me continue to go back..I tried this place recently with my friend and we didn't know we were going to love it as much as we do now.
