I have always wanted to take a yoga class but I thought it would be a room full of flexible 20 somethings and hippies I decided who cares Im going... Well shame in me it was a room full of diversity and openness. I felt comfortable even though I was not familiar with the poses. The instructor quietly came along side and gave me tips and I was blown away I lasted the full 90 minutes! at the end we were laying down on our mat and the instructor said "welcome home" to the class and thats how I felt. I attended 3 different yoga studios on free trials before I finally settled on Eastwind yoga as my home studio. The entire reason I chose EW was because of the teacher Elliot. I've taken probably 20 plus different teacher classes throughout the 3 + studios and Elliot is by far the greatest teacher I've worked with. There are other amazing teachers here as well like Tess and Suzie ect All around the teachers are just great but Elliot really shines like a star. Thank Elliot and thanks Eastwind. So glad to call his my home studio now. Both locations are nice as well, clean, have showers, towels ect ect. Best yoga spot in placer! read more

Many years ago I had a friend take me to a hot yoga class. I remember simply following all of the poses in the blindingly bright, packed studio from an individual that barked orders to the occupants like they were in a high impact aerobics class - I left with mind and body completely out of whack. Do you feel stressed just from reading that? Well, imagine my hesitation when a family friend recommended I give it another try. I reluctantly said okay and signed up for one drop-in class just to tentatively dip my toe in. The instructor who welcomed us was warm and inviting, the facility was clean and immediately set me a little more at ease. I set my towel up and noticed that the music and the lighting were allowing me to shed my stressors of the day. And then the class started. And I moved, took deep cleansing breaths, and enjoyed my time immensely. At the end of class I could not believe how wonderful my mind and body felt. I can look back at my first experience and laugh because of how crazy it was. I can't wait to try another class at East Wind Yoga. read more

I've been coming to East Wind for years now, and I love it. Every class is different, every instructor is different, and there is always a challenge. Yoga here is not repetitive or boring, and is certainly rigorous, technical while still be creative. It has helped me to overcome some pretty significant injuries and maintain and active lifestyle. I go to both the Auburn and Roseville studios, and they really have different vibes, but both are excellent. read more

I started at this studio about 3 months ago. They have wide variety of classes and teachers. I like it better then bikkram style hot yoga which is the same poses every class. The studio is large and well kept with a great peaceful vibe. Drop ins are $15 or $30 for first 30 days. If you like it you can purchase a year unlimited for $500 instead of $1000 for your first year(within the first 30 days) which is what I did. That is a great deal! They have a sister studio in Roseville with similar schedule and teachers. Its smaller but still nice. read more

From my first class (where I was challenged like I had never been challenged before) to my now multi weekly classes, I love the East Wind Family. I say family because that is how they treat you. Your relationships grow, evolve and become an important part of your daily life. Each teacher approaches their classes in their own unique style. Each brings their own practice into their teachings. Sharing, growing and overflowing into your own practice. There is such a variety of class types and teachers you will find something that meets your needs. Whether this is your first class or you've been practicing for years - East Wind Yoga is a studio that will challenge, test and teach you. The instructors become good friends offering suggestions, explanations and (if they're familiar with you) hands-on adjustments that help you strengthen your practice while simultaneously checking your ego. I've also enjoyed taking a number of workshops that are offered outside of daily classes. Themes and topics vary by instructor, but the thought, effort and planning that go into each workshop is considered. In each of my experiences the knowledge I've come away with is invaluable. I have been a yoga student off and on for over 5 years now, and when I look back to where I was then, and where I am now, yoga has definitely changed my mind, body, and soul, and with all my heart, I believe Eastwind Yoga has had a huge impact on helping me discover this within myself through many valuable lessons, in which I believe radiate within the walls, minds, and hearts of its ever changing teachers, teachers in training, students, and community by fulfilling their commitment to their self. It has been such a beautiful transition to witness the unfolding of Eastwind, and without the light, love, and inspiration, they have shared, I can truly say, I wouldn't be the person I am now-at the most peace, contentment, and invigorated as I am today. I'd like to believe my "yoga" journey actually began when I took my first class at Eastwind about three years ago, when I received an initial poke of awareness, self-respect, and love by taking my first class with Scott. For those that know Scott (I believe the owner, thankfully loyally committed) is one of the hardest instructors at Eastwind (mind and body). In my first class, I remember I was doing a standing hand to big toe pose, which you're standing leg holds your support, while your opposite leg is drawn out towards the front of the room, horizontally in conjunction to the ground beneath you. Well, first few classes, especially in hot yoga, a lot of things tend to always come up in you mind. Well, I slipped letting go of my toe in this pose, and with frustration, I softly let out a F@#$! Thankfully within perfect timing, Scott came from behind me gently saying, "I can think of a better four letter word you can use than that one..." He pauses, walks around me even more quietly saying, "...love..." I must say, I resisted at first, thinking whom does he think he is telling me what to do? Wow, this is what I needed to hear and feel -- love and accountability. I have never been to a yoga studio that displays such humble appreciation, respect, L-O-V-E, accountability, and support. This was just the beginning of admiration I can now say, I have so much for all teachers, teachers-in training, students, and East wind I now carry; when I say Eastwind, I am referring to is magic that lies within these walls that radiate from the time I walk in-to the moment I leave; it truly has carried me through out my day, on and off my mat. There such a presence, I can feel when I reach out to a body of community like Eastwind that is ever so intentional for ALL of their students. There is such a sense of strong sense of community and deep connection. Eastwind portrays this through integrity that is uniquely and genuinely different than any other studio in the U.S. I have been too. I personally have taken a teacher training course, and as I knew before I was going a little against my own values of signing up with a corporation to do my teacher training, I felt it was very right at the time, and it was, so it allowed me to put the wall down of stereotypes, and opened new door for me to learn, grow, and experience; however, visiting many other yoga studios, and taking a teacher training elsewhere, I still came back to Eastwind because they hold much more attainable values than I have ever experienced. For instance, when I went through my teacher training, I had a brand new teacher that has never taught a teacher training class before, and at the time I was lied to that I was signing up with a different teacher. During these classes and visiting other classes, I realized they weren't being intentional, honest, or safe. As we never went through many important key techniques for support of our mind and bodies in healthy habits: wrists, back, proper alignment, anatomy, and breath work. In doing so, I really set new bad habits and injured myself, spending a lot of time off and money to recover from that may have been prevented if taught properly. However, I don't want to focus much on the negative of this experience because there were some positive, but rather to point out the integrity Eastwind holds, and how much potential as a yogi you can have by the genuine honor of values that's emboded within each teacher uniquely, they share true physical, mental, and spiritual support with an extra nudge to remind us. I have realized with Eastwind in difference to other studios, it's not about "the money" here that show, it's not about "the teachers" that show, but rather it's about what the studio, and its teachers that are trying to show you authentically, real, and gutted, what YOGA is REALLY about, especially after noticing westernized-style yoga, which is so prevalent in the US and other western countries, Eastwind goes against it by getting closer to the roots of yoga and your soul. read more

I have never attended an East Wind class that wasn't wonderful. Julie, Buck, Scott and Ian are all amazing. Over the years I have attended many different classes with various instructors. I never know what to expect, except that I will be so glad I went. If you are visiting from out of town, taking a class at East Wind will be a real treat. read more

Was visiting friends who live in Auburn. They keep raving about this studio. I'm not too much into yoga but this place could turn me around. The heat is set at mama bear temperature. Hot enough to loosen you up but not dangerously hot enough to give you a stroke. Somehow I was able to feel semi confident although I'm sure I looked like an awkward windmill as they worked through the poses. Lots of individual attention but they kept the session moving. I'll definitely come back when I'm in town again. read more

Life changing! Love this place, its offerings, the people and fellow followers. Although I am relatively new to yoga, East Wind, Scott, and his wonderful teachers made me feel at home from the moment I first walked in. They truly care about their clients! Went for Sat evening "restorative" yoga class - most poses done on Bosu balls! Note well that this studio holds its yoga classes in 105 degree heat! If that's your idea of heaven, enjoy. read more

Awesome studio. Scott, Ryan and all the instructors make you feel welcome no matter what level you are at. Facility is beautiful, with showers available. Heat does facilitate ease and warm muscles. I have done Yoga all over the US and nothing even comes close in comparison to East Wind. The atmosphere and the teachers are over the top excellent! Its not just a yoga studio, its a community. Thankful to have this gem in my neighborhood!! read more

This is a friendly warm studio and the staff is lovely, be warned--their hot yoga is not remotely similar to Bikram, so if that's what you are looking for--keep going. It's just yoga in a hot room. It's more of a touchy-feely "breathing through your third eye" kind of place. It's a busy studio, so go a little early for parking and a decent spot on the floor. The facilities are clean and they have everything you need. read more

Its probably a five, but I've never been to any, so .... I just know it kicked my a--, but I loved it. My daughter, Norah, invited me, and I certainly needed to stretch. Finally!! A place in Auburn with real authentic hot yoga! There's a certain uniqueness and personality about Eastwind that seems far and few between amongst yoga studios. And I've tried a lot of studies in Sacamento, Roseville, Auburn, and even a couple up in Truckee and Reno. And the people I've met so far here are truly amazing and interesting. In fact, it's the people at Eastwind that make up half the experience. I'm glad I finally found a studio where I feel truly at home. Thanks Scott! read more

It's not safe to do hands-on adjustments on a student when the teacher doesn't know the student's level of experience with yoga and/or if they have any injuries. It's just plain dangerous to do that. For that reason, I won't be back to this studio and I wish I could get my $30 back. read more

Took my first class at East Wind Yoga in Auburn today. It was a great experience. the class was taught by Scott and assisted by Jen, both were very friendly, welcoming and very helpful. It was the hot yoga class and it was full yet they were still able to interact with each student. Great vibe, lots of smiling faces. Can't wait for my next class. read more

Absolutely AMAZING. I have had several surgeries and even a third of my lung removed. Francesca was INCREDIBLE in her assists, teaching and wisdom. She is such an inspiration. I will most definitely be making her Sunday night Hot class a priority. read more

Stopped by one evening to pick up a hard copy schedule just as a female instuctor was leaving the building for the night. She was unable and unwilling to produce said to look the schedule that was posted on the wall. Kinda felt like she had had a hard day but the next evening when I showed up for a class I paid 10$ for ten consecutive day of yoga was greeted by the same intrructor with the same kinda of attitude. I went into the beautiful newly remodeled stuidio placed my mat and as the class started the instuictor started a chant. I enjoyed the chant myself but once again felt the instructor was put out/tired and a little arogant? The next two days of classes were nice although different instructors and better better attitudes yet still a little arogant feeling. I was asked on the fifth day to purchase a package and again on the sixth and seventh...I decided that I did not like the pressure and arogance of the studio to continue using the last three days of my intorductory package. Altho the yoga instuction was above average I didn't not like the atmoshere. I've been to many studios nation wide and thuis is the first time I felt compelled ....even a month later to write this review on Yelp. read more

Most people like this place but I did NOT. the people were friendly enough but a bit too serious. Lighten up. And this review of mine is mostly for people who do NOT want HOT yoga. I went to the flow class, NOT hot yoga and the room was at least 100 degrees. I was sweating as soon as I stepped into the room. I felt so sick half way thru. I stepped out to breathe and then tried to continue on. I was miserable but tried to stick it out. How hot is the hot class?? 120? I went home just feeling sick. I called and got a hold of Scott. He was NOT sympathetic to MY condition. I don't think he believed me. My body does not regulate heat. I have been to a Dr. for it and it is a REAL condition. Most people get it from too many times of dehydrating themselves and basically you have a broken thermostat that might not ever be normal again. He just told me to drink more. I tried telling him that that is not the issue! But he finally just said, "well, we do heat the rooms - that's all I can say about it." So, I lost my money that I paid for up front. Luckily, I only did the 30.00!!! They don't answer emails so don't even try that route. If you like a super stuffy, really HOT room, you might like this place. The smell of sour sweat is SO bad in there. there is no ventilation. Will never go back or recommend to anyone. read more
