Quite modern, it only opened to traffic in 2014 and is an important part of the Prague Ring Road transportation link. Four lanes of road traffic plus pedestrian and cycles. 34 meters wide, it is actually two separate structures that are joined by an expansion join. There are no pillars in the river to support the bridge, making it very different from all the other Prague bridges. Prague's Old Town and historic main square goes back to the 12th century. It's big and beautiful,…read moreencircled by restaurants, cafes, churches, shops, shops, food stands, and more. The old architecture is amazing, every angle makes for an awesome photo opportunity. Wander the main streets, but venture into the tiny side streets where you'll still find locals and non touristy shops and eateries. It is very touristy overall, but you can find some locals patronizing some of the businesses and restaurants such as Stridacka and U zlateho Tygra, and taking in live shows at the various theaters.

"The priest and his followers were, however, received with derision by the town-councillors, who appears at the windows, and stones were thrown at the procession. One of the stones struck Priest John [Želivsky]... and the infuriated people immediately attempted to storm the town hall." "This event ended in the First Defenestration of Prague, which was one of the major triggering events for the Hussite Wars. "For a time during the Second Anti-Hussite Crusade, he held almost ultimate authority over the lower classes in Prague. "After his defeat in the Battle of Brüx in 1421, Želivský was removed from command. A standard arch bridge made from stone pillars and iron arches, the roadway on top was replaced in 1961 from the original wood to stones. It is the only Art Nouveau bridge in the Czech Republic. We went here after going to register for residency. The appointment was so early (8:15am) that we…read moredidn't eat breakfast yet. It is a rarity to be able to find breakfast and even more so, this early in the morning. I was happily surprised. We were served long fluffy hot omelettes that were light on the cheese and ham. I couldn't actually finish the thing, because it was too big for my stomach, but unexpectedly marveled at this thinly folded egg. We also had crunchy, ever so slightly glazed baguettes with butter and marmalade in the cutest little jars. The Gourmand also came with a croissant that had slivers of baked dough on flaky. There is a ginger tea that will kick your cold right in the tookus. It worked for me. There is an interesting drink that neither of us has tried before. It's hot fresh squeezed orange juice with ginger tea. There are big windows for people watching and quite a few people walk past. Especially funny is when someone is double parked and traffic piles up behind them. We will recommend it to visitors that don't want the humdrum of the hostel or hotel breakfast.

It took some digging to work out what this was about because it is not at all clear that this…read morestatue in the park that houses the Old New Synagogue is actually of the famous Old Testament prophet Moses. It is clear that a tremendous amount of effort and artistry went into this piece.. Looking tired, drained and exhausted, Moses is at the entrance to Prague's Jewish Quarter. The statue makes for an impressive photo for sure. Especially in light of the tragedies of the Czech Jewish people. [Review 12243 overall, 2027 of 2019.]
