Reputed Italian restaurant, tucked away near the Charles bridge in a side street. Did not disappoint, to use an understatement.

This was amazing, both me and my wife rated it a five. Pasta with seafood was perfect, Spaghetti allo scoglio, this is so delicate and robust all at the same time. My wife asked for my bread to eat the last drop of her sauce :), with a bountiful amount of seafood!! And the goulash! Traditional old Bohemian beef goulash served with bread dumplings, the sauce was peppery and full of a mouth watering taste of red wine. When we return to Prague from Vienna next week, we plan on a return trip to this magnificent find. ENJOY!!! read more

I really didn't *want* to eat at an Italian restaurant in the middle of Prague, but the menu actually had a good mix of Italian and Czech food items, so we decided to stop. We picked a small table towards the back, as far away from the large groups as we could get, while still being in the dining room. The waiter was at our table immediately, handing over the menu and asking our drink order. I was tired of "bright" beers by that point, and wanted something not a pilsner. I saw they offered a "dark" beer, so I ordered a large one of those. My husband wanted the waiter to recommend something, which ended up being the bright beer. The beers came out quickly, and once they were delivered, we put in our orders. I went with the roasted duck plate, and my husband went balls out with the many-meats plate (I think they called it something more eloquent, but it's basically a plate piled high with several different meats). The restaurant was cool and comfortable, and though it was full - there were at least three large groups dining there at the same time - it never got too terribly loud. I enjoyed the dark beer immensely - it was almost a Guinness, but not quite. It was missing the smokiness that always seems to assault my senses. My husband was disappointed with the light beer, and vowed to order a dark one once he finished it. When the food was delivered, I was glad I went with my plate. The many-meats place just looked insane, whereas my plate looked manageable. The duck had some really good flavor, but there wasn't a whole lot of meat on it. I'm not usually a fan of duck, to be honest, but I'd seen it on several other menus under the "local flavor" sections, so I figured I'd give it a try. It was good, but not exactly filling. My husband, meanwhile, was busy digging in to his meat plate. It came with some spinach gnocchi and sauerkraut, along with some duck, a stuffed chicken breast, sausage and pickled cabbage. He seemed to love it - it was hard to get an answer out of him while he was chewing. I did enjoy dining here. The waiter was super friendly and smiled all the time, which was nice. The food was decent and the beer was cool and refreshing. We'd probably go back, the next time we visit the city. read more

We had finished our tour of the Prague Castle Complex from early morning, and with tired feet, were looking for a meal outside the Complex (the prices inside the Complex assumed you were a captive audience, like on a ship out in the ocean). It was about 1pm, and it was probably at the peak of the lunch crowd. After being totally ignored at one of this eatery just outside the complex, we walked all the way down the steps of the Old Castle Stairways, to Pivo & Basilico, where St. Nicholas Church was just around the corner. The daily lunch menu offering pulled us in. My wife had the vegetarian salad (Czk 90) and I had the roast chicken with baked potatoes (Czk 150). After eating a lot of meaty fares, our stomachs were pleading for something lighter! Needless to say, both of our choices turned out exceptionally well for our respective appetites. The salad was refreshing, and with some avocado slices, a healthy choice too. The dressing was simple, olive oil. My roast chicken leg was moist and succulent (a rarity in today's world of modern eating when roast chicken tends to be dryer and over-cooked). The sweet/tart accompaniment went well with the chicken meat. As chocolate lovers, we couldn't pass up on the Prague Cake with Chocolate (Czk 80). Wow, it had chocolate sauce, chocolate layers and chunks with whipped cream. We shared that of course. This is way better than paying the same (but usually much more, in % terms) for the 'trendel' (ice cream cone) that is sold near the Charles Bridge. By the way, if you are ever tempted by trendel, just check the pricing of dessert cakes in nearby cafes. You will then have a benchmark and understand the opportunity that you are passing on with a trendel. :) All in all, it was a great meal. Waiters were friendly and un-pretentious. TIP: Don't ask for a 'large' beer. They pour two servings of 500ml into a humongous beer mug, for 1 litre of beer! read more

I was only visiting Prague for a brief afternoon and looking for some traditional Czech food. I already did my research beforehand, so after I identified the dishes I wished to try on the menu, I happily went inside. I wasn't disappointed. The portion of the food was pretty big. The pork knuckles was very tender and flavorful inside. My friend ordered roast duck, which was decent. At the end of meal, the waiter sighed when he looked at our plates and saw the meat we left there. However I was pretty sure we had already eaten so much more than usual:) I didn't have a chance to try other restaurants in Prague, but overall I was satisfied with my only food experience here. read more

First of all, the service here was terrible. It was pretty much as if they just didn't care about us at all and were annoyed that we were eating at their restaurant. Right from the beginning, this made me not like the place one bit. However, they were able to recover their rating a little bit with the food. When we came in, we wanted a table for five, but apparently their entire restaurant didn't have any tables for five (it's a big place and we could've easily put two tables together), so we had to sit at two separate tables. Once we got our food, it was alright. The portions were pretty big, with my seafood pasta not getting finished because it was too much. My friend got a duck dish that he thought was decent as well so because we did get large portions of decent food, this place gets a higher rating than a 2. Anyways, I would not come back to this place just because they were so rude to us, but the food is decent if you can get over that. read more

The perfect place for the Czech food lover who is with someone who does not want Czech food. Czech for me, Italian for my wife. Overall was an excellent restaurant with great service and it's a phenomenal value. My wife had the lasagna which had house made noodles and she loved it. I had the meat sampler platter which included 1/4 duck, bacon wrapped chicken breast stuffed with spinach and cheese, smoked sausage, and a slice of pork loin. Plus sautéed spinach and potato dumplings (like gnocchi) with a dark gravy. For dessert we had the apple strudel with ice cream and it was also delicious. All of the food was excellent and our server spoke perfect English and was very friendly (unlike a number of waiters we have experienced in Prague). The meal was an amazing value with all of the above plus 2 half liters of beer and a large bottle of water costing 705 Czech crowns. We added a 10% tip for a total of 775 crowns which is roughly $34 US as of May 2019. Amazing! read more

A charming little restaurant near the centre of Prague. I was there for a set meal and they dealt with my food allergies with ease, essentially offering me whatever I wanted from their menu whilst falling in line with the set 3 course meal they were offering. I had a caprese salad, a larger vegetable salad and a fruit dessert. It was delicious. Others in my group had soup for a starter, chicken wrapped in bacon and then ice cream for dessert. Everyone loved the food, it was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The wine and beer was reasonably good, and the absinthe certainly went down well! Staff were very polite and friendly and the service was brilliant. I would recommend this restaurant. read more

We loved this restaurant so much we kept coming back. A nice break from Czech food and Pizza. The homemade pasta are amazing especially the lasagna. Very quiet corner of Prague below the castle. read more
