My experience with exchanging currency at this shop: I had leftover Canadian currency so after I purchased my souvenir items I exchanged my CAN into USD. The exchange rate was 1 CAN dollar = 0.7117 USD. Which to me was accurate for that day (5.29.17). Also there was a .50 cent transaction fee that I felt was MORE than reasonable. On the way into Canada I missed the duty free shop and had to exchange my US money at a local bank in Windsor. They charged a 2.50 transaction fee. I would definitely recommend exchanging your money at a duty free shop if necessary. My bank card charges a 3% foreign transaction fee so I felt the small charge at the duty free shop was well WORTH IT.

There is a huge selection on expensive make up/face products such as Lancôme, Dior, Clinique, etc. There is also a variety of perfume from Burberry to Gucci, Tiffany, Dior, Prada, etc. There is also some delicious candy they sell in there that they don't sell in the U.S. you will need a good 35 minutes if you are a girl and want to go through all the fun make up products/perfumes. They require a license plate to make a purchase, and if you want to exchange U.S money for Canadian money, you need to provide your license plate and identification for the currency exchange. What's weird is that the license plate requirement isn't reported to border patrol.

I travel a good bit and choose DTW to connect through, and hopefully enough time between flights to visit this store. Many times the store will have some special prices on select things, which even makes the buying even more fun. While some of the items they stock can only be purchased if flying international flights, there are other things available to anyone traveling, such as candy and perfumes [and more]. Recently, I was traveling to Germany and was looking at making some holiday purchases. So many choices! I really welcomed the assistance of the staff helping me decide and find just the right presents.
