I stop by every time I'm in town. The food is always amazing. The staff is friendly and very prompt. This is one of my favorite spots to stop in the Midwest. Cheap food, but so good and awesome drinks. The place has a great feel to it also being in a historic downtown building. It's a must check out for anyone in the area! read more

I had a really disappointing experience at Turbo's. I ordered the 12 oz ribeye, $21.99. The baked potato was good, cooked correctly, $2.99 for loaded. The salad, $4.99 was ok but the homemade ranch was runny. The steak was awful, it had a strange taste, pale color, no juices, it was mw inpart, mr in other parts. It was a cheap cut of meat. It maybe was not a ribeye. I had ordered MR. I stopped eating it as it just was awful, requested a go box so I could take it home and look at it. The bartender had noticed that I was not eating it. I told him my opinion. "We would have made you another steak". Bartender should have asked me within 4 minutes how my steak was. He had not. I was too tired to wait and too angry, Even the iced tea was stale. I had eaten here a few years back, the food was good. I waited 30 minutes for kitchen to open. My ticket was $35 after the cash discount. I left no tip. I am a bartender also, plus have steak cooking experience in two steakhouses. I think this steak was cheap, frozen, then microwaved to thaw it, then the wrong seasoning was on it, with some rancid oil. There were faint grill marks on the steak. If you are going to do steaks, get decent or good steak locally. Then get a steak cook. A steak cook is not easy to find. Charge whatever is fair. I would have paid $10 more to have had a good steak. No microwave should have been involved. Steaks should be thawed in fridge from day before. Steak should be at room temp prior to cooking. If you can't manage all that and can't afford the steak cook, take the steaks off the menu. ​ read more

My friend and I just attempted to eat at Turbo's tonight for dinner and were refused service due to having a task trained service dog (which has public access protection under the Americans with disabilities act, AKA federal law.) We tried explaining the law to the employe (Caleb) who was very dismissive and informed us we needed to leave. read more

Denies service to disabled people who require the use of a Service Dog which is 100% illegal. They are not even willing to be educated on what the ADA Law says. read more

My family ordered takeout from here a couple nights while I was visiting. I had the country fried steak dinner and it was very good! I've eaten at the restaurant once as well, and I liked the ambiance. The service was good, and my kids were comfortable there. read more

I look at the seven previous reviews over the last five years and I want to think I just hit this place in a bad night. Could it be that my experience was not real? A lot like the service I didn't receive and the "food" I was served. Sat at a high top in the dimly lit main bar for 3 minutes, moved into the better illuminated other bar and stood for an additional 3 minutes. Finally was acknowledged and sat down for 5 more minutes before my drink order was taken. I order a chicken fried steak for $13 and received the following: 1). Real instant mashed potatoes from a box 2). Real imitation frozen steak from a package 3). Real imitation butter (aka margarine) 4). Real black pepper gravy from a package. Should be called a Hollywood chicken fry since there's so much artificial food on the plate. I've had MRE's better than this. I just caught them on a bad night. read more

Wow. I'll say it, the best place to eat in Independence. This was a real surprise. Everything in the place was new and clean. A great pool table area, plenty of televisions and a full bar area. Nice music and great service. The food was amazing. Though we both had hamburgers, we didn't get the full menu options but the meat was quality beef and it tasted great. I liked the fact they brought out out bbq sauce, mustard, ketchup, mayo and ranch for self serve on our food. Why this place isn't packed tonight is crazy. read more

We are from out of town and stopped by on Friday night about a week ago and had a steak dinner so tough could not even chew or eat salad fresh good as well as baked potatoes mentioned waitress to mention management like no big deal will not recommend to others. 3.5 stars. Good little bar. Burgers are decent, not a lot on tap but good enough. Nice bar atmosphere - not to snobby but not a dive. Staff is friendly and one has decent hooters. I try to save my dumps for home because the bathroom is a bit lacking but will work if just gotta leave a load. read more

This was one of my grandfathers favorite places in Independence, and for a good reason. Our large group of 10 was able to call ahead for a table and they had it ready to go when we got there. They have nightly dinner specials. I had the shrimp salad, which was fresh and the spice on the shrimp was awesome. They have a wide variety of beers on tap, including local beers. They were able to split checks and we had amazingly kind and prompt service. Better yet - the bathrooms were super clean. read more

Moved here a year ago. One of our favorite places to eat. Really good food, service and prices. Ribeyes are my favorite. Seasoned and cooked to perfection. Live that they take the time to make hand cut fries. read more
