Tried here for lunch on a HOT Wednesday in July 2020, after having it in mind to check out for a few months. When you pull into the parking lot, all the spots say reserved, so it was a bit confusing. Then we noticed a sign that says Turkuaz has spaces 14-19 (different businesses in the plaza obviously have their own numbered). Hopefully there would never been more than six vehicles that needed to park here, or I imagine you would be limited to the shoulder of the highway, and not sure that is allowed. Anyway, when we walked in, we were immediately relieved that there is AC, as a restaurant without it today would've been unbearably warm. We were greeted immediately and shown to a four-seater table at the far back next to a full wall window facing the Bedford Basin, which is very nice. Lots of natural light, red walls with a sleek, modern atmosphere, some interesting artwork, red & white armless chairs at white metal tables (seating at the moment during covid times seems to hold about 25-30?). Very friendly staff. Free small plate of naan, olives & pickled peppers brought to the table, with a chilled glass bottle of water. The food arrived in probably 10 minutes. My friend had the lamb kofte kebab (minced lamb patties mixed with traditional Turkish spices $16) and was very impressed. The Coban salad (cucumber, tomato, onion, vinegar, olive oil?) was very bright. The white rice was buttery. The meat was topped with some kind of charred green chili that looked like a jalapeno but wasn't. His enjoy the meat with two sauces for dipping. I had the chicken yogurt kebab *with cubed naan bread, tomato sauce, butter & plain yogurt, salad on the side). It was a lot of food and I shared two patties with my friend who said mine had even better flavor than his dish. A few slices of zucchini mixed in made it a very well rounded and flavorful dish. I'd definitely like to come back here sometime and try other things, maybe an evening where there's more time to relax. read more
