3rd time visiting this amazing gem. Some in my group are Jain, while others are Swaminarayan. The best part about this place is their menu which is suited for both religious needs. We started off with Sugarcane juice, Aam Palak Chaat, Dabeli Royal, and Crispy Cauli Marvel. All were amazing dishes, though our favorite was probably the Aam Palak Chaat. For entrees, we went with Tawa Paneer and Methi Paneer. Again, both were Swaminarayan and absolutely delicious. To accommodate those dishes, we did the Bullet Naan with no onion no garlic and Tandoori Roti. Though we felt the dishes could have been a bit more hotter, it was very tasteful and just fine. Overall, it was an amazing lunch experience. Their vast menu and specific accommodations to everyone's religious needs is what makes this spot unique versus other restaurants in the area. Loved this place. While this is purely vegetarian dishes and I'm not vegetarian, the food and flavors are so good anyone can enjoy. My wife and I were close by and she wanted to eat so I chose this place on a whim. We were immediately welcomed upon arrival and seated. There's a very warm and welcoming atmosphere adding to the whole experience. It was only when I started looking at the menu that I realized it was a vegetarian menu, but I'm happy to go without meat for a meal. Everything looked so good that we ordered more than we could eat but were happy to take some home for leftovers. While there we had aam palak chaat (probably my absolute favorite of all the delicious dishes we tried), crispy lilva bites, bullet naan (which my wife loved more than garlic naan, her normal favorite), maharaja vada pav (potato based), and smoky baingan bonfire. I came seeking a taste of Gujrati food, but was recommended to try their Pubjabi thali. I obliged. What emerged was a really fantastic thali. Sometimes these sampler platter dishes have a feel of being lazy or like they just throw whatever in there, but this was beautifully presented and offered an excellent mix of tastes and textures, including multiple appetizers and desserts, and even a drink, though it turns out that I'm not a huge chaas fan. I got a chai instead and otherwise wolfed down the entire mess on an empty stomach. While the strip mall setting isn't special, it was a nicely decorated place inside. I've tried to go before and found it packed at peak times, so I was glad I took the opportunity on a slower midweek night. I visited Turmerica for a weeknight dinner and it was fantastic. In my opinion some of the best Indian food I've tried in the area. Some may think it is more on the pricey side but you get what you pay for in terms of quality, cleanliness, service, and presentation. Definitely worth it for me. These are the dishes we tried, I recommend all of them. vegetable Manchurian for an appetizer which was a highlight - great gravy and mini Manchurian balls cooked perfectly Paneer Pasanda (signature dish) - excellent curry with very unique taste compared to a basic mahkani or tikka masala sauce Kofta - also unique take on a kofta dish, in a red gravy with sweet filling in the middle of the kofta. Came to Turmerica in Sterling for dinner on a Saturday night and was surprised by how quiet it was, especially for prime weekend hours. This is a vegetarian Indian restaurant, and I was really looking forward to trying the thali. Unfortunately, it's not available on weekends after a certain time, even though it's still listed on the menu. That limitation isn't noted on the website or in the in-store menu, which was disappointing. The hot and sour soup was the standout of the meal -- deeply gingery, hot, and nicely spiced. Easily the best thing we ordered. The appetizers were also strong: the tikki chaat and crispy cauliflower Manchurian were bright, tangy, and flavorful. The mains didn't land as well. The undhiyu tasted like the spices hadn't been cooked out properly and felt harsh and unbalanced -- one to skip. The paneer gotala lacked texture and came across as spicy but mushy. The paneer naan arrived hot, though the filling didn't quite work for me. The tadka dal was fine but unremarkable. Service was friendly but inconsistent. Our waiter brought out appetizers piping hot and kept water refilled, but then disappeared, and we had to track him down to order our mains. Overall, there were some bright spots, especially the soup and appetizers, but the uneven execution and service make this a place I'd only return to selectively -- mainly for the soup. read more

1) We went to Tumerica to enjoy the Tumerica Special as listed on their Dinner Menu only to be told they don't serve the Tumerica Special for Dinner on weekends. We checked for fine print for any exceptions before we decided to go for 1 entree that was SUPPOSED to be the restaurant SPECIAL on the DINNER menu. 2) Following this, we tried to order 3 different entrees with a Mild spice level, which also was rejected stating the specific dishes were not available to be made to the requested spice level. 3) We ordered 1 thing but were served a different thing. (Among 10 tables, only 1 other table was occupied so we doubt it was due to them being extremely busy). 4) Finally, for dessert, we requested a dish from the menu, and ofcourse, they didn't have it. So, sadly this restaurant experience was a disappointment for multiple reasons. The place looked nice however the food that was served was mediocre for the steep prices we paid. read more

Stopped on a Saturday afternoon for the Rajasthani thali. Service was very slow as its still a relatively new spot. However even for water and coke it took 30 minutes. Place is clean and beautiful. Menu looked very different and promising. However we were there for Dal Bati which came as Thali. Main reason for deducting one star was the taste. Bati was hard and dry and so was the choorma. Papad ki sabzi was standout. Dal gatta and kadi were average. There are better Rajasthani thalis in this area. The jalebi rabri was the star of show but felt a bit less. For the price with tip it would had been fair except the tastes. Looking forward to try their other items which they are usually famous for. read more

This review is for only the thali. Both Gujarathi and Punjabi thali were really good and tasted fresh. The variety on the platter were good and the quantity was decent. But the issue is the price. Charging at the level of Bombay Club/Rasika at what is basically a suburban strip mall restaurant is a little much. I saw that they offer the thalis at a cheaper price on weekdays (by $5), which probably is a more opt than the weekend price. I don't know if the weekday thali is a smaller version of weekends. We have been to this restaurant three times since its opening. The first time with 4 members of our family, second time with one additional friend, the third time with another family. We were excited to compare Turmerica with Rupa Vira at first, sure it beats out most restaurants in the area after the second and decidedly depressed after the third. We would have rated the first visit 4/5, the second 5/5 and the third at 0/5. After the second visit, we made it a point to thank the Chef and all the wait staff who made the visit incredibly "tasty" and enjoyable. "Ram" who waited on us at the second visit was a thrill to have making recommendations on choices. First, kudos to the decor designer - excellent attention detail. One area to improve, I would encourage the restaurant to keep the shades down - for the evening service, the sun is reflected directly on your face and it is hard to be comfortable. Second, hire some professional wait staff to, (or retain those who) make customers feel comfortable. "Ram" from the second visit was outstanding. We had the same staff member wait on us for the first and third visit. Did not do a good job. Entrees arrived before plates. New plates arrived before the dirty ones were cleared off. Serving entrees with the same dirty hands used to clear dirty dishes is not acceptable. Three, when a group calls ahead to make reservation, give them some space for the size of the reservation party. The same wait staff refused to chain 3 tables for a party of 8 saying it would waste the space that could seat 10 and would only pull 2 together that would seat 6 asking us to adjust. Needed a lot of convincing. It is not enjoyable when the first 15 minutes of your outing starts with an argument. Four, maintain the consistency of the dishes even if the menu needs to be trimmed. For the third visit, none of the apps or entrees were good. Flavor, freshness, thoroughness (fully baked) were all lacking. Items were not fresh, were over or undercooked. For a restaurant to go from a 5/5 on every item ordered to 0/5 on all item ordered is a bad swing. Last, if a customer reaches out to offer feedback on the food and service, provide a venue. I reached out through the website to offer some feedback. Never heard back, and so, the comments are out here. Starting a restaurant or any business is really hard and one that has retail presence is one of the hardest things to do. But if the menu is as expensive as some of the top notch ones downtown, it is time to pay closer attention to consistency of the food and service as much as the elegance in the dining room. We will visit once more after some time elapses in the hopes of having a 5/5 visit. read more

The restaurant's interior and ambiance was good, but the food we ordered was horrible. Today we tried 3 of their fast food items that they had noted as "signature items" in the menu. 1. Vada Pav- it was too salty, Patel Brothers has better Vada pavs. I have never seen or ate vada with coriander seeds. 2. Dabeli Royal- it was so sweet hat it tasted like crushed up dates in a bun. 3. Aloo Tikki Chaat- The name should be Raddga Patties not Aloo Tikki Chaat, it only had chole with tiny tikkis. We could only finish one of the Vada Pavs. We left most of the other two items because they were not eatable. The worst thing was that the waiter did not even question why we left most of the food.
