We were thrilled to pop into Heel to Toe Boutique not only for the exquisite clothing they feature, but, the outstanding customer service provided by Debra. She is such an exceptional, kind, caring & knowledgeable member of the boutique and with all heart!! My friends & I left the store with beautiful UGG slippers and with the feeling as though we gained a new friend in Debra. They carry David Kahn jeans, Sweet Pea tops & dresses to name a couple. Everything is neatly displayed on racks, tables or cases. The clothing hanging is always ironed & free of wrinkles! You're always warmly greeted when you enter, are left to browse at your leisure and graciously helped when needed. Often, Nikki, the owner is there and is very friendly and helpful in putting outfits together and giving opinions while you're trying on clothing. I love that they offer manicures & pedicures and would love to have one next time I'm in the area (I'll update if I do). It's best to make an appointment, but if they have time, they'll accept walk-ins. They have 2 plush pedicure chairs. There is also an aesthetician who does facials & waxing by appointment.

I popped in Sac a Main Handbags to check out what offerings they had. Unfortunately, there was nothing that I took a fancy to. I prefer designer bags like Kate Spade. Alas, Kate was not to be found here. Many people do like this store though. It won an award for being a favorite store in Calaveras County. Good for them! She is a great sales person and so without hesitation, I bought 3 pairs of these pants. I now realize I should have gotten MORE!!! Recently, I have searched high and low for more of these (sold out,) pants locally and even on the Internet, but decided to continue to support the small business Shirt Tales instead. I was hoping for more Capri pants which were out of stock. Instead, she offered to have her seamstress hem the longer pants to look like Capri's with the little side slit at the hem for a nominal fee. That is a person who goes all out to please her customers. Since I live 2 hours from the shop, I called and ordered them to be shipped. What was so adorable, was that the owner offered to meet me in a nearby city in the Bay Area to bring them to me since she is coming to visit a friend anyway. It really touched me how genuinely caring and sweet this owner is and how she is willing to go the EXTRA MILE. (Pun intended!) I am very glad to be a repeat customer and when I am in town I will always revisit her store. Meanwhile, ordering over the phone and having them shipped is WELL worth my time and money! The woman proceeded to follow us to the other side of the store where the shoes are and straight watched us like we were going to steal something. Very disappointing to be treated that way. They have shifted to more fast fashion for lower price point options as I am shifting to sustainable slow fashion which has made it harder for me to shop there but I still feel they bring in products that end up being in my core rotation. But after a couple of trips with a friend there who asked, 'why do you go back when they treat you like that? I realized it's never been a comfortable experience to shop there. I am not the picture of a customer I see them treat with esteem and care--I like clothes and fashion in general but seem to always end up being half my Florida beach roots in the end and am not polished or 'on point' in my look. My friend pointed out how women who were that look were treated compared to me. Twice. She was right and I had always felt that way there but I thought that wasn't really my problem and who cares? But it stuck in my craw and after a recent very poor experience with a sales person who I typically enjoy, I quit going. Maybe she had a bad day but it felt ugly. I decided to quit going because of the customer service and my own personal shift to buying fashion that is more sustainable and ethical.

It wasn't easy at first, like many locally owned mountain town businesses they open late and close early, lol. But once they opened it was worth checking out! They have a nice selection of hats, T's, and button down shirts. The real gem was the owner. What a super nice guy he turned out to be. We really enjoyed talking with him. Definitely worth checking out the store when you're in town.
