The first place we saw in town was Howdy's and we meant to only go in to get a few items to restock and then go to a diner for breakfast. However, that all changed once we went in. I look over and I see the employees actually dredging fresh chicken in flour and egg wash for the fryer. I have eaten a lot of gas station fried chicken, but I have never had gas station fried chicken like this. Usually it has just been sent there frozen and either nuked or just quickly refried. This was real deal, freshly fried chicken and it was excellent. Hands down the best gas station fried chicken I've ever had. The store itself is also huge. It is more of a market than a gas station and has pretty much everything you need to restock on a bike trip. It's always a big treat when we visit McCall and can visit Rite Aid's Thrifty's ice cream counter. Yesterday afternoon we stopped by and my children went inside with Grandpa, absolutely thrilled. It was such a damper on the excitement when they returned to the car discussing how the male employee serving the ice cream had such a terrible attitude and made them highly uncomfortable. I do understand there doesn't seem to be someone exclusively assigned to the ice cream counter, and employees likely are pulled away from other duties to serve at the counter. I could see how that could be frustrating but please don't take that out on customers.
