We started with just our older daughter receiving speech therapy, then both my oldest daughter and son (we have have a 7 month old too now). My son started speech at exactly a year old due to him not talking. About 6 months after that both children started receiving occupational therapy. Both my kids have seen by Shari, Tony, Meg, Courtney, Mehgan, Mara, Erin, Sara and a few others when were filling in for someone else's cancelled appointment. I did learn (quickly by Shari when we first started) that if you don't keep going consistently its NOT going to help your child. You will also be charged $50 (or at least thats what it was at the time I paid for missing 2 sessions in a row ). If you or your child isn't happy with their current OTG therapist then tell Armida or the front desk and they will try to work your child in with another therapist that may be a better fit. OTG has grown so much in the years we've been going. When we started it was a waiting room with 2 - 2 seater love seats and a 3 seater couch, a receptionist (who wrote everything in pencil in individual scheduling books) and just a few speech therapists. Now they have almost the whole downstairs of the building and moved to electronic scheduling and 4 receptionists. We've had a few scheduling mix ups and problems but thats only been because I didn't pay attention to my calendar or listen to what I was told and when my kids appointments were. We moved in April 2012 down to Rancho Bernardo and made the drive (in morning rush hour traffic) 3 times a week. After 7 months we switched offices to something closer to us in RB (let's call that place # 2) and 3 months after switching to place #2 we switched back to OTG. The staff at place # 2 was not conducive for my kids and after a few therapists it just wasn't working for us. The only downfall was loosing our spots with Shari and Tony (the most sought after therapists) but we wanted them back and were put on a 'wait list' so to speak to be back on their schedules when a spot opened up that worked for both them and us. OTG also has an annual FREE family day with burgers, hot dogs, jump houses, relay games, face paint, balloons and just plain old outdoor fun for kids. They also participate in the ACT! for Military Families Autism 5k/10k every year too - my kids love going to both events :) Josh and Rebekah (the wonders of OTG) really put their hearts and souls into their business to make sure that the families they service get what they need. At times that comes at a sacrifice to their own children and most of the families don't realize what it takes to run a pediatric therapy office of this size. We will continue our services with OTG until the kids "graduate" - when that day comes I may cry just a tad bit!

This review, however, is specifically regarding the front desk staff and my experiences over the phone. The last three times I have either been contacted by or called the office, the staff have been extremely rude and disrespectful. I scheduled an appointment for a specific time over the phone, but never received a confirmation until the day before the appointment--and when I did, the appointment time was completely different from what I had originally scheduled. I called to address the issue and was met with an extremely rude and unprofessional attitude from the staff member I spoke with. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable bringing my child to this location. If this is how parents are treated before their child even receives care, it unfortunately left me questioning what our experience would be like once we were actually patients there.

They have a strict absence / makeup policy (85%) which I totally get. However, they don't hold up their end of the bargain. I had an emergency c-section and was back to speech 2 weeks later because we were told that if we missed more we could lose our sessions. Then despite attending we ended up losing our spot anyways because they no longer had a provider to fill it. Then months later, we were finally placed with another therapist only to be told that she would no longer be working with MeBe and they don't have another provider to take over after only 4 sessions. When I reached out to scheduling asking if they had any potential spots, they were not helpful at all. They like to offer telehealth as an option but that just does not fit well for my active two year-old (we even gave it a try, just in case.) They had asked if I could give them more availability and when I did I received zero reply. At this point, I am really tired of the lack of consistency and poor communication on MeBe's end. The speech therapists are lovely, but now unfortunately I would not recommend MeBe.

(I waited to post this in case another bill came, but luckily not)…read more Scheduling an appointment is not easy. It was difficult to make a first appointment. It was a game of phone tag. I had my phone with me when the called but I was slow to pick up so I had to leave another voicemail asking them to call me back. I finaly made my first appointment only for them to reschedule me the day before because they realized the provider they scheduled me with does not accept my insurance (UnitedHealthcare). They also rescheduled my second appointment right before the appointment but did not tell me why. Billing was also an issue. I asked the front desk staff how much my visit would cost and I was told $90 co-pay. I think she misunderstood my quesiton because I wanted an estimate of the total visit cost. This co-pay the highest co-pay I have ever had at any facility. I was a bit shocked but went ahead with the appointment. I later got a bill for another $60 putting my visit at $150. Perhaps a first visit extra fee but it was not clear on the bill. Also, the billing was not straightforward. They sent me an email with the bill but the link to view the invoice didn't work. I contacted their billing center and they later fixed the link. The staff are knowledgeable and the exercises work but I didn't like the experience of being there. There is a lot going on in the whole room so the experience is not relaxing (like my experience at other facilities) and after you finish your instructed exercises, you need to wait for the staff to come back to give you the next set of exercises. There is quite a bit of downtime. The first visit was 1.5 hours and would have been longer but I opted out of the end muscle stimulation treatment. The next appointment was 1 hour long and I had again opted to leave before the muscle stimulation treatment. For anyone who is working, it is really inconvenient to come here. The time commitment and rescheduling is a major issue. Also, I am a chronic pain patient who does not appear to have obvious issues. The questionaires related to my progress were focused on physical limitations (like being able to run or compete physical tasks). A questionaire more suited to a patient like me is a quality of life quesitonaire. Just because I can run doesn't mean I don't live with constant pain. Also, as someone who has experienced 9/10 pain (giving birth), when I report pain that is ~4/10, it is significant pain impacting me. And just because I can still turn my head doesn't mean the motion is comfortable. I will find a place where I don't feel I am doubted or dismissed.

Not even to come back up and let's us know the therapist would be out shortly. This was my daughter's first time. After meeting with my daughter the therapist gave me her assessment. It was upsetting to me. I always want the truth. But I also know delivery is key. And I knew immediately she didn't know what she was talking about. She bashed the Carlsbad Schools in the process. And after speaking with the school therapist she confirmed my doubts were right. She was giving me bad information. And she was extremely negative.
