Five stars for the team at Tuscany Bike Tours. Here's the day: 9:30am Rendezvous at the shop in Florence. Meet your fellow riders. Try to pick out the riders that seem weaker than you. You'll need this info if it snows and you get stuck in the Pyrenees. 10am Take the shuttle bus out of Florence, into the Tuscan countryside. The van seats 8 comfortably. Bonding time with fellow riders...from Canada and the States and Oz. Note that many of them have cycling gear on. Lie to them and say that you competed in the Tour de France in 2012. Wear your seatbelts on the van. (This is Italy.) 10:45ish Tour the castle. Fortify yourself with a little wine. Get fitted for bikes and helmets. Your bike has a name. Remember it. Off onto the Tuscan roads 1pm Enjoy a late lunch at a little roadside cafe. Bruschetta, salad, pasta, lots of wine and plenty of convivial conversation with your fellow bikers. Tell them you were just joking about the Tour de France. Eat a little fruit and some espresso to get you ready for the road again. Try to remember the name of your bike. Was it "Diablo" or "Dianna Ross"? Consider going back in for some more wine while you try to remember. 2pm Another hour or two of biking the countryside. Your route includes an (optional) 2kilo stretch of road straight up Mount Everest. (Okay not really Mount Everest, but it feels like it by the time you are done.) You have the option of tapping out anywhere along the line. It is grueling. Consider giving up. Consider which of your fellow bikers you'll eat first if you've got to survive. Wish that you had done the Tour de France to warm up. Wish that you had not had so much wine. Wish that you never went on a biking tour. Wish that bikes had never been invented. Reach the top and forget all of this in a rush of endorphins. High five the other bikers. Feel better than you've ever felt. Consider buying a bike. Consider watching the Tour de France this year. Consider hugging that guy you were secretly planning to eat if things got really bad. 4pm Return the bikes and get in the van for the trip home. Realize that this was the best thing you've done in Firenze so far. Have a fantastic time talking to the people on your bike tour. Try to put that business about eating the weak behind you. Get lots of great tips from your driver. 5pm Reluctantly say arrivederci to your fellow bikers. Spend the rest of the evening talking about what a great day it was. read more

This trip is a must if you are visiting Florenzia. Excellent day or half day trips that include a Tuscan lunch under a large trellis restaurant outdoors on a hilltop. It was a very tough decision for me not to give 5 Stars...overall a great trip, great guides, and probably our best day in Italy. However, growing up near Napa Valley in California, I wasn't interested in the wine tour and thought it dragged on too long and wasted valuable time riding the Vespa, which is the primary reason for this tour. 120 Euro(Thats $160.80US as of today) for the Vespa tour, but it turned out to be only about 2 hours of riding time. For that much money, I would've liked to have spent another 30-60 minutes on the Vespa. Here's how the day went: 10:15am-10:30ish Walking from the office to the vans(they say to get there by 9:30am!) 10:30am-11:30ish Driving(in the van) to the winery. Its a very scenic drive though. 11:30ish-12:30ish Touring the winery. Tasting Wine. Buying wine...only 6.50 euro per bottle! :) 12:30ish-130ish quick Vespa lesson and short drive. 1:30-230ish Lunch...food was alright, but they were very generous with the delicious wine! :) 2:30ish-4:00ish Vespa driving...effing awesome! 4:00ish-5:00ish rive back to Florence(in the van). So as you can see, out of 7 hours, you only drive the Vespas for about 2 hours... 30 more minutes would've pushed this to 5 stars. Note1: No motorcycle license required. Great, because I don't have one! But it was easy to learn. (I don't know if this is actually legal in Italy ;-) ) Note2: If you've done wine tasting and driven the backroads in Sonoma and Napa counties in northern California, the Tuscan countryside isn't that much more impressive. read more

This was a Great experience, I haven't been on bike in years but Barbara ‍(our bike tour guide) was very paciente with us. Waiting for us around every turn, she never left us behind. I think our tour was about 2 hours and it was worth every penny, I mean euro. We even went across the Ponte Vecchio and stopped for Gelato . Every.. view.. was.. Amazing. Best adventure ever! Absolutely worth every dime err.. Euro. We just returned from the Vespa tour led by Chris with full hearts, bellies, and cameras. Best sights that I have seen in all of Italy - from Sicily to Milan. The Vespas are so fun and, as someone who has never even ridden a motorbike of any sort, extremely easy to pick up. There is nothing like the experience of zooming through the Tuscan country side with only the wind in your face. I will absolutely be returning on my next trip to Italy! read more

Had a lot of fun on this tour. I worried it would be too hot because it was in the mid-90s in Florence, but it didn't seem so hot where the ride is held. The guides also shifted the itinerary so that we had lunch at the hotter part of the tour. I highly recommend this tour. read more

Nice staff, beautiful countryside, and they train you well if you haven't ridden a Vespa before. However, the "lunch" provided is weak at best and low quality. The main issue is you don't start your Vespa ride until a good two hours into the process. The total time on the Vespa is somewhat limited . This was the first day my wife and I came to Florence. She doesn't bike much (hardly ever) and was nervous about riding 13 miles. She did a great job and our guides were super friendly and patient till all the green riders were comfortable. The castle tour was a great addition to the trip and had an amazing view of the Tuscan hills. I love to bike so this was a nice leisurely ride except for the late hill (but the van was there the whole way for anyone who wanted to opt out). Also the bikes were in good condition, which isn't always the case for some bike tours. Overall we had a great day. Our guides were super friendly and helpful. At the end we got a map for Florence with some local suggestions to check out and a souvenir water bottle. For €80 per person, it was totally worth the trip. Book in advance! read more

Bruno from Tuscany Cycle had 4 great carbon road bikes (with race wheels!) ready to go for us. We are a group of avid racers and relational riders. He led an amazing ride through the Tuscany countryside to Greve in Chianti. He's an amazing athlete and will go as hard as you want to ride! Since my husband and I had just come from a World Championship race, we enjoyed Bruno's go-get-em attitude. Truly one of the most fun we've ever had on bikes! Wow. Came from Rome. needed something refreshing other than a tour. Didn't think I could could talk my wife into it but boy did both of us have a blast. Starting with a castle wine tour then vespaing (is that a word?) through Tuscany wine country, lunch, more wine, then more vespaing. It was the highlight of our vacation. The staff who run it are fun and make it a great day. My recommendation. It's not what you would think of when going to florence but that's a good thing. Do it. You won't be disappointed. read more

We had a blast ridding our bikes through the Tuscan region. We did the full day bike tour, and thought it was one of the best activities we did. Thought the wine tasting was the least impressive thing we did, but the wine we purchased was delicious. The tour guides Jason and Alessio were awesome, and took great care of each rider and had fun with everyone. The scenery was breathtaking and fun to ride the bikes. This is a a terrific tour! The day was windy and cool, so conditions were not ideal, but the bike ride (other than the last hill) is relatively easy and mostly flat. The castle tour, with olive oil and wine tasting, was fun, but the highlight was just being out on the open road in beautiful Tuscany. My husband and I were tired of museums and crowds after a week in Italy and after running the Rome Marathon, and this was extremely relaxing. Our guides, Alessio and Chris, were outstanding and funny. Even the drive from Florence out to Tuscany was great. The numbering system on the streets in Florence is a little messed up, so we were glad we scouted out the location the day before. I posted a question on Facebook before the ride about the meeting place, and Alessio responded within an hour or so. It was a perfect day in-between visiting the Ufizzi and the Academia! It was one of my favorite activities on our trip to Italy, along with the marathon. The guides were very concerned with our safety and kept tabs on everyone, and there was always the option of using the sag wagon. It's really a bargain to spend 80 euros on a entire day activity in Italy, including lunch. read more

Great tour. It gets you out of he city and into the beautiful country side. You start off at a winery/castle where you tour the facility than try olive oil and a glass of wine I was disappointed when I thought that was it but than you set off into a 13 or so mile bike ride in the beautiful Tuscan countryside and than you take a break for lunch. They offered three different choices for lunch but I'm gluten free/celiac and in this s town they had gf pasta So I was pretty darn happy! Food was great and there was a lot of it it's included a pasta lunch, a salad, dessert and coffee. And the best part of course is unlimited vino! After lunch you continue on your tour there was one super tough uphill area where I elected to walk instead of ride my bike or the shuttle but all are an option and than you have a wonderful downhill decent and than a bus ride back to the city. Highly recommend really enjoyed myself and my husband did as well and note he hates biking but the views won him over read more

This was absolutely the highlight of our trip. We did the all day bike tour, which took us up in the hills around Florence. Every part of it was fantastic, including the scenery, the tour of the castle, and the lovely rustic lunch outside. It was the perfect way to spend a day getting away from the crowds and relaxing (while getting in a little exercise too!). My 10 year old son especially enjoyed it, and it was such a welcome change of pace from the typical sightseeing. Also, all of the guides were wonderful- kind, accommodating, and quite knowledgeable.
