    The staff is great The options for glasses is great everything about this place is 10 out of 10 I recommended to everybody

    It's a strange thing having confidence in the staff's and physicians' abilities at this Omni, in…read morethis my first visit which ended after three hours being referred to a cornea specialist but in Fairfield instead. I'm well aware that if you have "moderate cataracts" or - a new purported finding, Saltzmann's modules, you have options. However I wasn't getting the impression that they had the time or interest to explain those options: there was only option they pushed for: surgery. Felt like a Cataract Factory. Eyes are Money. So is time. Look it'll cost you $2,000 out of pocket and $4,000, I was breezily told with no paperwork and you don't have to do it now but you should schedule it now for sometime because our results are today are only good for six months. Act before midnight! As this fast, hard sell was happening, I politely asked: "what are the risks?" The one doctor who was pushing the consult along (I can't imagine she had 70 or more people to speak to that day ) appeared stunned. Or needlessly distracted by the interruption. "Well floaters, glares and blindness." The world "blindness" hung in the air between us. "But that's only a 1% risk of so." I don't know about you, but blindness isn't a blithe consideration to dismiss. I asked if my current prescription could be improved. They extensively measured my eyes for hours and photographed them and analyzed my glasses' prescription. One hard working assistant told midway through the process that they could give me an idea of whether the prescription could be improved, as one would think, but at end of the rush. rush steamroller evaluation by the primary doctor, she dismissively informed me "we don't sell glasses - we don't give you a prescription." Wouldn't the needs of the patient demand you ensure they have the most up to date prescription? I raised my summer's worst symptom - badly itchy eyes where I'd just about gouge my eyes out rubbing them. Not much interest in addressing that but did say they'd give me a sample of a medication. But as I left, it turned out they just had a coupon for $5. My vision is not that bad - that i'll tell you. When I asked the obviously highly qualified ophthalmologist why she was urging surgery and the optometrist I'd seen months ago said it's likely I have cataracts but no need to undergo surgery just yet. She said all surgery is risky. She c was right. But this physician had little patience entertaining the notion that I don't need cataract surgery now. Got it. Also the procedure is done in the office - takes 10 minutes - costing me $6,000 (while i'm sure my insurance company would pay far more) and what would a get? Well improved vision but i'd still always have to wear glasses. Look. Eye surgery is a big deal. Highly qualified ophthalmologists are a big deal. Absolutely agree. But according to one testing person, she said she processes 80 patients a day. The only way you can do that kind of volume is evaluating each patient fast, tell them they need surgery if you believe so, and skimp discussions that deviate from that vision mission. I really had the sense that their belief was that I came there not to improve my vision but to get surgery if there was enough of a reason to.. And who can afford it? And who can afford to risk blindness?

    I thought some, (not all) of the nurses/technicians (male and female) were efficient, but one nurse…read more(will not mention the gender), seemed in a rush, never explained the tests to me AT ALL, and was generally somewhat agitated. I did not find the facility very sanitary, and I also felt that the Doctor that finally saw me was also somewhat agitated. He never told me what he was going to do, and then all of a sudden for example, there is a bright light in your eye....WTF?? Doctors need to warn their patients, what is coming next in the procedure. I felt that I couldn't ask questions...IT was, "OK, you're done....NEXT! Not the best experience. I felt like cattle being pushed and prodded through a maze. I even emailed my last optometrist report to them, thank god I had a "hard copy" with me as back up, because when asked if they received the email, they looked at me and giggled. I am glad my condition wasn't serious because I would not want to go back there for a follow up visit. They made you feel cheap, as if I was in THEIR way... not cool AT ALL. Later...
