It's a strange thing having confidence in the staff's and physicians' abilities at this Omni, in this my first visit which ended after three hours being referred to a cornea specialist but in Fairfield instead. I'm well aware that if you have "moderate cataracts" or - a new purported finding, Saltzmann's modules, you have options. However I wasn't getting the impression that they had the time or interest to explain those options: there was only option they pushed for: surgery. Felt like a Cataract Factory. Eyes are Money. So is time. Look it'll cost you $2,000 out of pocket and $4,000, I was breezily told with no paperwork and you don't have to do it now but you should schedule it now for sometime because our results are today are only good for six months. Act before midnight! As this fast, hard sell was happening, I politely asked: "what are the risks?" The one doctor who was pushing the consult along (I can't imagine she had 70 or more people to speak to that day ) appeared stunned. Or needlessly distracted by the interruption. "Well floaters, glares and blindness." The world "blindness" hung in the air between us. "But that's only a 1% risk of so." I don't know about you, but blindness isn't a blithe consideration to dismiss. I asked if my current prescription could be improved. They extensively measured my eyes for hours and photographed them and analyzed my glasses' prescription. One hard working assistant told midway through the process that they could give me an idea of whether the prescription could be improved, as one would think, but at end of the rush. rush steamroller evaluation by the primary doctor, she dismissively informed me "we don't sell glasses - we don't give you a prescription." Wouldn't the needs of the patient demand you ensure they have the most up to date prescription? I raised my summer's worst symptom - badly itchy eyes where I'd just about gouge my eyes out rubbing them. Not much interest in addressing that but did say they'd give me a sample of a medication. But as I left, it turned out they just had a coupon for $5. My vision is not that bad - that i'll tell you. When I asked the obviously highly qualified ophthalmologist why she was urging surgery and the optometrist I'd seen months ago said it's likely I have cataracts but no need to undergo surgery just yet. She said all surgery is risky. She c was right. But this physician had little patience entertaining the notion that I don't need cataract surgery now. Got it. Also the procedure is done in the office - takes 10 minutes - costing me $6,000 (while i'm sure my insurance company would pay far more) and what would a get? Well improved vision but i'd still always have to wear glasses. Look. Eye surgery is a big deal. Highly qualified ophthalmologists are a big deal. Absolutely agree. But according to one testing person, she said she processes 80 patients a day. The only way you can do that kind of volume is evaluating each patient fast, tell them they need surgery if you believe so, and skimp discussions that deviate from that vision mission. I really had the sense that their belief was that I came there not to improve my vision but to get surgery if there was enough of a reason to.. And who can afford it? And who can afford to risk blindness? read more

I thought some, (not all) of the nurses/technicians (male and female) were efficient, but one nurse (will not mention the gender), seemed in a rush, never explained the tests to me AT ALL, and was generally somewhat agitated. I did not find the facility very sanitary, and I also felt that the Doctor that finally saw me was also somewhat agitated. He never told me what he was going to do, and then all of a sudden for example, there is a bright light in your eye....WTF?? Doctors need to warn their patients, what is coming next in the procedure. I felt that I couldn't ask questions...IT was, "OK, you're done....NEXT! Not the best experience. I felt like cattle being pushed and prodded through a maze. I even emailed my last optometrist report to them, thank god I had a "hard copy" with me as back up, because when asked if they received the email, they looked at me and giggled. SCAM ARTIST!!! Was told SPECIFICALLY that my cataracts "REQUIRED SURGERY, AND GLASSES WOULD DO NOTHING FOR ME", went somewhere else and they said, "glasses are fine UNLESS I definitely WANT the surgery"...Omni Eye Associates tried to get 8K dollars out of me for a surgery that is not a NECESSITY as they put it!!! Don't try to reply to this review like you did with the other review someone else left talking about it's based on medical findings or evidence. In my opinion this establishment mentioned is ONLY established to take money and provide false findings...RUN RUN RUN to another Eye Care institution that really cares about you the customer and not you the bank!!!! read more

It is a shame what has happened to Omni Eye service! There is no service!! The Drs are excellent! Especially, mine Dr Shabaht! However, it's impossible to get a message through to the Drs! This morning, (since no one called me back yesterday)! I said I needed an appointment! I wanted an appointment just so I could speak to Dr Shabaht! I guess they will pick up if you want an appointment!!! The receptionist said "you were just here" I said I'm making an appointment because I can't speak to my Dr otherwise! She put me through and my question was answered! To be out on hold, leave messages, leave phone numbers is absurd! I cannot give less than one star or I would. Stay as far away from this facility in West Orange as possible. Prior to surgery they called the wrong number although correct number provided more than one time. In addition, they call less than 24 hours prior to surgery to notify of the time since evidently the organization feels that it is okay to disrespect the time of the patient's family that are burdened with the drop off and pick up. They will reply in a condescending tone to use Lyft or Uber. Not everyone has the finances for this unless they are providing voucher to pay for. Then, once in the office you sit for an unnecessarily long time. After the horrible experience the first time for the first eye we were forced to endure the 2nd eye procedure because it was needed to be finally done. This facility was recommended to us by the optometrist but I can only help others by not recommending. read more

This group is too big for its own good. Miscommunications and follow-ups dropped or pursued way to late. I had to cancel my eye surgery the day before due to late notice that certain "paperwork" was not in place after 3 weeks if me thinking it was all good to go. Also frustratingly difficult to back get in touch with anyone from Omni that calls you. Some don't even leave their name or phone extension. Trying to leave a voice message to the general mailbox disconnects before even being able to start the message. The doctors may be great but all else is a negative patient experience. read more

Every doctor that I have seen at this practice is outstanding. From Dr. Grayson to Dr LaFata, Dr. Shabhakt, and Dr Bruno. My mother has been a patient for about 10 years I a recently became a patient. They are all well qualified in their fields of expertise, are caring, respectful and thoughtful. I have worn glasses/contacts since the age of 4 and I am now 50+. I trust this practice with my vision and would recommend to anyone in need of specialized care. read more

I would NEVER come here. I had my first appointment with them on 4/9/24 at 8:15a. I called for my car at 7a which took 15 min to arrive, which is okay because I still have time since the office is only 30 min away. I'm headed there and we get stuck in traffic but we were still moving. I call the office at 8:00a to tell them that I'll be there at 8:27. HE said there's only a 10 min grace period. I didn't want to cancel because we were moving. I told them i would call them back if it didn't change. Moving along, the traffic now turns into a parking lot of cars barely moving. So now I call them back at my 10 min grace period window to tell them to cancel because now the app says I'm not getting there until 9a. They proceed to tell me, oh we can't cancel it in the system so there will be a $50 no show charge. HOW???? I'm on the phone with you, TWICE, telling you what's happening!!! I called you at my 10 min grace period window!! Then she proceeded to tell me we can reschedule for May 22nd!!! Absolutely NOT!!! Your bedside manner SUCKS before I even GET there!!! I brought my mom for an eye dr appointment, she needs surgery. I called the day before to make sure someone would be able to translate for my mother, they assured me they have someone who will be there to help her out. Her appointment was 10:30 she arrived at 10:10 and she was seen over 2 and a half hours later. I had to step away from my job to be on the phone and help her translate which is unacceptable, I too Am in the medical field and we pride ourselves on making sure our patients have a translator on staff at all times. The DR came into the room and didn't even apologize for the wait, trying to call the office is terrible, no matter what time I called I waited over 20/30 minutes for someone to pick up to only put me on hold. I will be finding another dr for my mother, this was a waste of her time. read more

Horrible! We were referred to this awful place by a doctor in Maplewood. The only reason why I gave it 1 star is because it won't allow me to review without stars. First of all, they acknowledged that the gps has wrong directions. They told us this when we finally arrived late. Mom is 87. Was referred because we were told she possibly needed cataract surgery. DO NOT GO HERE! They do not tell you that the first visit is 2-3 hours. They do not tell you the directions in gps are incorrect. Mom arrived 11 am. She was taken 11:45. Seen by an an intern. Who had 1 more year of school to complete. They did not seem concerned with anything other than money. They told her it's $10k out of pocket. She was not seen by a doctor. They said if she wants the surgery, she will see the surgeon for the first time on the surgery day. They severely overbook. It appears that Doctors are getting a kick back for sending people there. Mom didn't have lunch. And we would have planned appropriately if we were told how long this appt would take. Mom is so exhausted that she went right to bed at 3 pm. Awful. The wait times are awful! Expect to wait 2 hours before even being looked at to get registered. Then itll be another 3 hours between being called in for surgery and the time it finishes. Why do they call people in so early if they're running behind every single time?! Awful read more

Went back for second eye procedure and was treated like a king. Reception was smooth and quick. Once paperwork was processed I was treated by Dr LaFada and shown to the exam room. Dr Grayson treated me, gave me follow up directions and sent me on my way. Everyone was nice. The service was friendly, professional and quick. I was told at this place that I definitely Needed cataract surgery on both eyes. Had three types of cataracts on one eye and one type on another eye. Did not trust this place at all; went to another Dr. in Ridgewood and was told that I do not need cataract surgery. Got new RX for glasses and contacts - see perfectly. This should be criminal. How many others had unnecessary surgery. Go for a second opinion. read more

Awful experience - no respect for their patients time. We used Omni Eye Services due to a change in my employer's insurance to treat my son who had lazy eye and wore corrective lenses. In our initial visit (which was the first appointment of the day) we were told upon arrival the doctor would be 30-45 minutes late. After an hour of waiting, we finally got to see the doctor. A year later, going back for our follow up, we had an 11:30am appointment - at 12:30 we had still not been seen and needed to leave as I had work. For parents who take time off from work and flex their schedule to be at these appointments, the lack of respect for their patients time is completely unacceptable.Upon leaving, there was no apology from the receptionist - simply the comment that they typically have long wait times and they recommend not making other plans if they have an appointment. That tells you all you need to know. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

I can't say enough about Dr. Rosenberg and Omni Eye Services. I was diagnosed with cataracts at age 57. I was terrified. The entire process was so painless, easy and streamlined. Recovery time was almost non-existent. The entire office staff is so wonderful, so friendly and extremely helpful. I know sometimes people use the phrase "life-changing", but this procedure truly was. My vision is perfect, no need for contacts or glasses. Colors are so vibrant. I would give 10 stars if I could. Simply put, Dr. Rosenberg and her staff are amazing. read more

This review is for the facility and staff only as I wrote about DR Milite on Omni's Rochelle Park site. The WO facility surgical unit was well staffed with great people. Not a long wait at all. The doctor's lead surgical nurse was quite caring. I recall getting a bit "tense" during my procedure as I was only partially out. I remember she was touching and patting my shoulder, telling me I was doing fine and it was going great. That REALLY meant a lot. Here is the review on Dr Milite and his Rochelle office team . I. am so glad I was referred to this office and Dr Milite. The office itself is quite nice and well staffed, contrary to the yelp reviews. And Dr Milite is a very competent, skilled surgeon. I had eye kid surgery in their West Orange facility which was equally a good experience. The doctor did an exceptional job. He is no nonsense but quite personable. I have already recommended him to two other people. Thank you Dr Milite & staff!! read more
