In other words, the same organization can profit from both parents and the districts they are supposed to be resisting. To me, this is a clear conflict of interest. Parents navigating dyslexia need to know this dynamic exists so they can make fully informed choices.

He developed a true love for learning and exploring. He was potty trained and taught social skills and school procedures. Everyday he was greeted with hugs and love by ALL the staff! Most days when I would pick him up, he wanted to stay because he was having so much fun. When my son started experiencing some behavioral issues Ms. Freda worked very hard to help and support my son. My daughter started at 4 months and was loved and greeted by the staff before she was even born. LOL Mrs. Candis and all of the staff in the baby room took such great care of her. Putting her in daycare so young didn't scare me because I knew she would receive a great amount of attention, love and care. I was updated with pictures and texts regularly throughout the week. My daughter came home with some of the cutest art projects etc. which let me know she wasn't just sitting around all day. Children's choice is a great place to send your kids. The staff is and quality of care they provide is what makes that place a child's choice!

I didn't everything under the sun to get this problem under control. I did speech therapy and ABa therapy through the San Diego Regional Center. I kept the staff informed over everything that was going on. We even tried to come up with a behavior plan, and it didn't work. So. I got my son assessed for autism, and guess what, he is autistic. And we are talking high functioning. Once we got the diagnosis, I kept them informed of all the goings on, including him getting in daycare help from Easter Seals. And as anyone knows, getting this kind of in school help takes a minute. It doesn't happen overnight. You need to go through intake and assessments. They did not care at all. They kicked him out before help could come. They had no sympathy or empathy or compassion for a kid with autism. He is now thriving in a new daycare with daycare help from Easter Seals. He has an ABA therapist 2 hours a day every day of the week at daycare. He hasn't had a biting or behavioral incident in months. All they had to do was wait. But I was told that they weren't sure they could help a kid like Milo even with the diagnosis and help. I'd also like to mention that I did get in trouble with them after the expulsion because I was very very upset with their decision and couldn't hold back. I wanted to fight for my kid and for fairness. I will always be on my kids side and be their advocate. So there was no appeals process. I should have kept my cool, but I felt like I did everything right and they just saw him as a problem with no solution. I even tried to contact their main office to tell them of the diagnosis and the process for what happens next. I called and emailed several times with no response for almost two weeks. If you have a child that has any type of special needs, do not go here.

I was nervous at first to do Zoom tutoring vs in person but the whole experience has been really great. My daughter loves her tutoring sessions and has been making significant progress at school. Mrs. Brinchman sends a detailed recap of the sessions same day and has given me advice on how I can help my daughter. I only wish we had started tutoring with Mrs. Brinchman sooner. Also we did have connectivity issues when using our Chromebook but when we switched to our Apple computer we didn't have any issues.

Our child is going through some difficult things during a family crisis/traumatic episode-and I sent out messages to various child clinicians to get some insight on how best to provide our little one with services/developmentally appropriate support. Out of the countless messages that I sent-Shawn Dee stands out for being so transparent, ethical, informative, and supportive. She told me straight up that I shouldn't go to her for my child's specific needs-to save my money, and then went into length on how to get my child services/support that is more tailored to her unique needs at an affordable cost. Shawn Dee did not have to go the extra mile to help me understand the very complex school system-how to best champion/advocate for my child, navigate the system, and who/what gatekeepers to be mindful of. We only have one young child (although I'm due to give birth to our second child shortly).
