Before our first daughter was born, we toured Tutor Time of Holbrook. We were so impressed with the care and love and attention to the babies in the infant room, we signed up immediately! Miss J. in Infant A, we can't thank you enough for all your love and care for our girls. Now our first daughter is four and a half, and when our second daughter was born (she just turned 2), we knew she'd be happy and well-taken-care-of (and well-loved) there, too! Our second had some gross motor skill delays and had certain special requirements for her care as an infant, and we might have worried that she would have a hard time at full-time daycare, but we knew, based on the care we'd seen with other kids who needed a little help (some kids had their PTs visit during school), we knew that she would be just fine. She is a bright and happy kid, and we were so impressed and grateful for the many ways in which the Directors and her teachers in the infant rooms on up worked with her every day to keep her mind happy, stimulated and busy with age-appropriate activities even when she couldn't crawl when others were starting to walk. When she could crawl but not yet walk, but many classmates were walking, her teachers again made certain she could participate both inside the classroom and on the playground (and not be squashed by the walkers :D). Now she is walking proudly and hasn't looked back! :D We are forever grateful for all the special love and care for her! Both have been attending since they were a few months old, and we continue to be impressed by not only the care, but the educational curriculum, the safety and security of the school, the activities aimed specifically at each child's development, and even the menu! The directors and every teacher learns every child's name, and the girls love being greeted when they arrive. They also love the playground and projects and special fun days (and my preschooler is in Cub Camp for her second year, something she looks forward to), and I love that the curriculum is presented in a way that makes it fun to learn, and that each child comes home with a paper saying what she did, what she ate, how she napped, etc. each day. Most of all, though, you can tell that everyone loves and cares for your children, and it's a safe, nurturing environment that my husband and I feel comfortable having my girls attend. I don't even know where to begin to start. this place lacks structure so badly. first of all there has been times where nobody is at the front door, the parents will just hold open the door for anyone, which is a safety hazard within itself. There is only about one polite teacher that cared for my son. there is a big lack of communication on the app and between teachers to parents. I had mentioned that my son was working on potty training and wouldnt ever get any updates on their end as far as working with him. there is no learning, no curriculum. I would as my son what he learned and he would come home everyday and say "I don't know" there has been times where they are over ratio, they seem to just hire anybody. some with bad attitudes. They were very quick to tell me about my sons behavior but never any positive updates and or solutions. just seems like one big free for all there. my son would come home dirty, not put together at all. they do not take pride in the children and or what they do at Tutor Time. They would log in that he's eating and he'd come home with a full lunch box & even left old food sitting in a container for a week. they even suggested me getting my son evaluated instead of taking the time to work with him. My daughter has been attending Tutor for 8 months now since I returned to work. They were so understanding and supportive of our feelings leaving our baby at daycare for the first time. All the teachers are so supportive and positive, and really look to individualize how they care for the kids. My daughter loves to school and playing with the other kids and teachers. I love that they have the app so I can see what my daughter has been up to all day and peek in on her. That made me feel so secure. Overall, I highly recommend. read more

Update to all the uneducated people posting. Cps is reviewing the case and the 5th percent IS investigating. Look at the licensing department as the violations are already starting to show. Also I have the video you idiots. Local news is picking up the story as well. Shame on you if you really are a parent or a worker there supporting this. I have emails after emails of parents and workers from this location reporting child abuse. They are in the process of being shut down. Please see my picture for details. Video of my child being abused. Teacher still works there!! Last week thanks to a staff member being the voice of my just turned two year old, the staff member reported my child being terribly mistreated by his teacher. my husband and the district manager watched the video and had to see our innocent baby being grabbed by the mouth and her shoving his little head backwards. His neck whipped backwards so violently. She then continued to hold him by the face with his head all the way back scolding him because he spit his Cheerios out. CPS (child protective services) and the local police department are now investigating the case. The sickening part is that the school has decided to keep her teaching young kids and feel she can be retrained. They said she will stay while being investigated. We all watched the same video are you kidding me???? You stand behind a grown woman hurting a child and not a baby????? I am beyond disgusted. There are other violations against this school for child abuse. They are sweeping this under the wrong and families have no idea. How is this allowed?? Other connections to individuals who have worked at both the Holtsville location and Ronkonkoma location and reached out to me telling me how they witness child abuse and no one did anything about it. I pray Connors story gets passed and this place loses their license. This is disgusting. For the past 9 months this center has done a complete overhaul with new directors, staff, training and education. All of the staff go above and beyond giving a family friendly atmosphere, transparent communication and safety first approach to their daily operations. There are daily curriculums done in each classroom, fun theme days, activities and events planned. Everyone genuinely cares about the education, wellbeing and community & families they serve. Where do I start.I gave these people many chances. They are extremely understaffed always out of ratio and make you wait in the front with your child until there is enough teachers. A staff member advised me in private that there was apparently a leak in the infant rooms and they just "replaced" tiles every few months rather than addressing the black mold building up. Most of the children as well as staff here are always sick more than normal. Ms. Kira was one of the 4 teachers there who deserve so much better. She actually cares about you and your child's well-being but it wasn't enough to continue to subject my children to this. Multiple teachers were in tears telling me they do not allow the staff to take break due to being so understaffed. Pretty sure as per NYS law that's illegal! There is also favoritism. My son was savagely bitten hit and scratched multiple times over the course of 6 months. Rather than removing the problem child they allowed the student to return. All the kids had photos of them and their crafts hung up except for my son in the twos roomMs. Leah was another one who deserves much more. The director Trish was always kind and caring however she needs some further training in running a daycare. She should be required to come in early. She also needs to obtain control over her staff and what they say to the parents about other parents as well as students! I am not a therapist yet multiple teachers here would feel the need to vent to me, making me feel stressed because EVERYONE working here is stressed. You would think with access to cameras they would be more careful. My daughter was dropped on the ground before my eyes and I was told she was "fine" but her knee was scraped. Thank goodness she did not hit her head or have a concussion or worse. They brushed it off not even taking the situation seriously. Like a fool, I let that go. My other son was humiliated by staff even though she didn't "mean to take it out on him". I am extremely disappointed as I was very good to the people here. Always donating clothes offering everything I could. One staff member actually told me about the leaks in the ceiling and said she "couldn't prove there is black mold" but knew there was and is. No wonder your nose starts running as soon as you enter that room. My two out of three children have developed respiratory issues from being HERE. Take my advice or don't but I would NOT recommend this place. My daughter was taken care of very well for the most part but I do feel she had been neglected at times when all the others were on the floor and she was left in a high chair. I thought some of the staff here really cared about us at first but I was wrong. Why run a daycare if there is no staff? Some of the staff makes you feel like you are in the way by even dropping your kids off. Let's not forget 2 out of my 3 kids had their personal belongings thrown out. Again, I gave this place a chance and feel like I messed up because I don't even know what has been happening to my 2 year old son. Since we have left they seem happier. My oldest is heart broken as he made many friends but I felt my other two were not ok and I can't take that chance. How can you drop my baby and tell me "it wasn't a big deal?". When children are being dropped off in the early morning staff should absolutely NOT say "oh great another one" referring to kids coming in. This is supposed to be a daycare for your children to be safe. The toddler room walls on the doors specifically eye level to the two year olds are DISGUSTING. They do not sanitize or wipe down anything I know they wipe the tables down but other things should be cleaned as well. Not just vacuumed floors. Like I said there are some good people here but I had to pull my children because of so many reasons and time and time again they got chances and it just got worse and worse. The pre k classes are decent but would definitely not recommend the toddler or infant rooms. Hope this helps CURIOUS parents about this place. I absolutely love this center ! My daughter has been going here since she was 3 months old and she is now 2! The staff is very attentive and are always so wonderful! She is always learning something knew everyday and new activities ! She is always so happy to be able to play with her friends and has built a relationship with the staff! She is so in love with Miss Victoria and Miss Barbara! I never have to worry if she is in good hands ever! Everyday I receive updates when she eats , plays , diaper changes videos , pictures and naps! This is honestly my favorite part in feeling secure and just knowing how her day is going!! The Holbrook location was a saving grace with getting help so I can work full time! Even with covid they have proven to take all precautions to ensure the safety of my daughter while she is at the center! I would recommend this location 100 percent ! read more

My daughter just started attending camp at Tutor Time of Holbrook and is having a great time! She comes home taking about the new friends she has made, how nice her teachers are and all of the fun activities they have been doing. She especially loves their soccer program! I love that they have live cameras so I can peek in on her classroom throughout the day. I highly recommend them! read more

Tutor Time in Holbrook has always been a great place to send your children. My daughter was there for a few years and I would recommend this place to any parent. I have friends who have their children there now and can totally dispute what a recent mom has been posting. The incident (if you want to call it that) is being overblown and exaggerated. If she is so certain about what happened, why doesn't she get a copy of the video and show it to others? She is claiming that criminal charges are pending but that's not true either. My daughter started going there on Sept. 2019, on her 3rd day there I got a call/voicemail from Julie that she had "fallen, got a small scrape but it is not an emergency, she's fine and playing" when I heard the voicemail I immediately informed my husband so he could call them since I was at work. When he called the place he was told she was fine that it was a small scrape and she hadn't even cried. He asked if he should go get her and they told him that it was not necessary to just go later. When he picked her up, she had a band aid on her forehead, when they got home and pulled the band aid out, my daughter had a big open gash with blood in it. When he called me and I called her Doctor I was told to immediately take her to the ER, on our way there we called Tutor Time again and they did nothing but to apologize and said the teacher was gone for the day and they were not sure of what had happened. My daughter ended up getting stitches and also her nose started bleeding. And there was also blood on her clothes, which btw they had told me she didn't bleed. According to the doctor she must have hit her nose on the wall when she hit her head. My daughter who is 4 and speaks very clear explained to me several times what had happened, that she was getting up and her feet got tangled and fell and hit her head in the wall and on the metal thingy between the wall and the door. She also said the teacher got mad and started yelling to the kids asking who had done it? who had pushed her? and that she told her no-one did that she just fell. She also said the teacher was upset because she had to go to her other job and was now late and the other teacher had to come in. The next day we met with them (Teacher and Mary), no real answer was given to us except for an apology. They said "this will be a learning experience for us" and that next time they will know to inform parent more clearly about it. On that day they gave me a copy of the incident report and I realized the call to me was made almost an hour after it had happened. When I asked about this they said they weren't sure why it took that long. My husband and I asked them what background in healthcare did they have to assume that she did not needed to go to the ER? that she was okay? are they doctors? is there a nurse on staff? NO! they simply said that they based it on their judgement. On that Sunday Julie called to ask what had happened at the meeting on Friday and apologized, she said she had not been there because she was at a meeting Thurs & Fri. and therefore was not aware of the situation, which I don't understand how if she was the one that called us on Thursday?. This happened on Thursday Sept. 19 2019 and after reading about all the abuse going on in this location I decided I should warn other parents before they pick this place. I've been taking both my girls here since June 2019, I feel that my husband and I made a great decision in picking Tutor Time of Holbrook. At first I was very nervous about leaving my kids with strangers, but the teachers here made us feel comfortable. Being that we can call anytime, they even have an app that updates you throughout the day, you know exactly what activities they've done, when they took their nap/woke up, potty or diaper change etc. Ms. Barbara and Ms. Alexa are phenomenal, amazing, loving, caring teachers. Teachers here care for your children as if they were their own. The comments below unfortunately my children were already enrolled when that incident happened. I of course as a concerned parent, went and spoke to the directors, after speaking with them I felt at ease that my children are being well taken care of. However, Tutor Time took the action to replace the directors, whether that was necessary or not, its not for me to say. Jessica the new director and staff are doing a fantastic job. In these hard times of Covid-19 especially, its more of a concern to have my kids there, they have shown and proven how great they really are, when it comes to the safety and security of not just the children, but us as parents as well. They have great communication, I still know exactly what my children do every minute of the day. The sanitation to assure that there arent any issues, they go above and beyond to make us feel at ease. If your looking for a daycare for your little one most definitely take Tutor Time of Holbrook into consideration. read more

I was happy with this location for a long time until my son started getting bitten by other children. He was bitten five times between Sept.-Feb. and it was handled very poorly by the facility and supervisors at corporate. For the prices that Tutor Time charges, my son should have at least been safe! I'm outraged at the lack of attention that was given to this matter, and hurt that the only solution seemed to be for us to leave the facility due to the unwillingness of supervisors and staff to rectify this situation. I'm tired of hearing that biting is a normal behavior for toddlers. I can google the research also, but nowhere in the research does it say repeated biting is acceptable. Furthermore, the passive attitude which with this situation was handled is appalling. Tutor time is one of the priciest daycare facilities out there, but it's apparent that paying more does not mean you will receive better care. I would absolutely advise future parents to check the OCFS website to review the violations at this facility. If all that is not bad enough, two of the five bites were not even seen by the "teacher" and the most recent bite was deep enough that every tooth in the other child's mouth was visible on my son. I'm not a forensic expert, but I'm thinking it must have taken a minute for him to get such a strong grasp on my son's back, but again it was not seen at all by the staff in the room. Corporate should be ashamed that they charge the prices they do meanwhile victims of abuse in their facilities are provided no protection from unsafe situations. Leaving is the only option they provide because they are not willing to address the biter's parents. Cowardly management is not what I paid so much for! read more

First off let me start by saying, We truly love everything about Tutor Time in Holbrook!! We are first time parents with no experience in choosing a daycare. It was one of the hardest decisions we had to make. We wanted a place that would be Safe, Educational, and close to home. We found what we were looking for and so much more! Our daughter started @ Tutor Time when she was 3 months old and now she is almost 4. She is being cared for by women that truly care about her and want to see her succeed in life. The staff is so friendly that they have become family to us. The Directors Julie & Susanne go above and beyond to make sure your child is happy and much more importantly that the parent is happy. Granted not every kid can be a peach including my own, but we have always felt the situation was handled properly and fast. My husband & I love that the teachers send us pictures and videos throughout the day. It's such a good feeling when you see a smiling face when you can't be there. We get updates everyday on what she ate or when she is napping or playing outside. It is so nice to be so connected especial when you get home and ask "how was your day?" and get good as the answer and nothing else. I bring up a few things i was sent on the app (books they read that day / circle time song / handwriting etc.) and amazing just like that we have a conversation about her day. I like one of the staff, Shanna, who seems to really like children but she is going to nursing school. The new staff member, Jamie, allows this one kid to tackle down the other children and shoves them to the ground. They know he is aggressive and moved him to the 2 year old room before he was 2 because he was hurting kids his own age. But he continues to pull the hair of the girls, grabs them and throws things at them. My 2 year old son has come home with bites, bruises, cuts and a black eye. Most of the time they will notify us, but there were undocumented injuries. Jamie is supposed to take this kid with her when she is at the changing/potty area with the other children but she doesn't. One time this kid grabbed the back of a little girl and tried to pull her backward. She was crying and holding onto a kitchen set that he wanted, I had to remove his hand from her so she wouldn't fall backward and hurt her head (My son has scars on his face as a result of this place). I worry about my son eating, and the daycare is supposed to tell us what they ate during the day. Jamie would write that he ate all his breakfast when she watched him throw away his whole plate of uneaten food on numerous occasions. My child has been potty trained for months, and doesn't have any accidents even overnight at home. However, he keeps having accidents at this daycare. Jamie told me that he goes to the corner and defecates on himself. I have never seen him do this because he tells us when he needs to potty. My husband and I have asked the staff several times to not put diapers on him. They claim that there is no change of clothes in his cubby even though there are (I check in the mornings when I drop him off) and put diapers on him sometimes when he has accidents. One time he came home with a diaper and an underwear with feces on top of the diaper. I finally switched to a new daycare, and he has not had any accidents there. There are also video cameras at this new place so I can watch him on my phone/computer anytime. They give me accurate reports daily and let me know what he is and isn't eating. The staff sit with the children at mealtimes and encourage them to eat. The new place also does not smell (there is the smell of feces when I walk in the door of Tutor time sometimes). read more

Some are nonverbal and that is a means of communication for them. When biting does occur, no matter the age I have witnessed how proactive management has been. When I first came to Tutor Time, I was skeptical because my daughter was my first child and I though how could I ever leave her with someone other than family. But the reason I came, was because my own cousin spoke so highly of this center. When I went for a tour, I was amazed at the staff, the appearance and the pride that this facility had in themselves. I enrolled not too long after the tour. My daughter is now 6 years old, when she attended she and I loved every moment of it. They have always been amazing at handling situations and whenever I or my fiancé had a question or a concern it was handled immediately. I have never felt uneasy about leaving my child here at this center. Should I decided to have more children I will enroll my child without a doubt again at Holbrook. The staff always made my daughter feel as if she was the most important child in the room and when I would watch secretly in the window I seen how the teachers made each child feel like that as well. I actually remember seeing a child attempt at biting and the teacher intervened so swift and without startling either child. I appreciate the staff and the administration at Tutor Time and I will continue to recommend this facility to my friends and family and even my coworkers. read more

My son has been at Tutor Time Holbrook since 4 months old. He is now 2 years old and we can't say good enough things about this center! Every teacher has been phenomenal!! He still lights up when he sees past teachers in the hallway. We love getting his daily Toddler Link to learn about his day and what activities he engaged in.
