Update: 21 Jan 2017 My daughter is still at Morningstar…read moreDance Academy. She loves it, even though it is still crowded. We are even considering putting her in after school care to learn chinese and ballet. She really likes the classes and the teachers. Morningstar has instituted some rules to address the overcrowding. I up'd the star rating by one star because my daughter loves these classes so much and the teachers are excellent. Now, I just drop by daughter off and do errands so that I don't have to be in a crowded environment and it seems to work well. ---old review There are many more ballet schools around Johns Creek that are better looking than Morningstar Dance Academy. However, the teachers are very good. If you are serious about ballet and don't care about the facility and look of the place, you may want to give Morningstar Dance Academy a try. This school seems to be outgrowing its current facility. I think the owner will need to expand soon or create more classes in order to keep the class size down. Right now, my biggest issue is that the classes are so crowded. The state of the facility would be my second biggest gripe. I wish I could watch my daughter's class, but there is no room and there is no window aside from the tiny one on the door. There is also no room for the parents to wait since the adjacent class rooms get filled with chinese language classes. My daughter attends this school with her friends, but I don't know how much longer I will keep her here mostly due to the overcrowding. Pros: Teachers are very good You will see results quickly and learn fast Teacher is strict Teachers speak english Morningstar also has a Chinese Language School Cons: Classes are crowded Facility is small and getting run down Teacher is strict Everyone else speaks chinese Morningstar's Chinese Language School is very rigorous even for native speakers

My daughter was at another well known dance school for about 5 year, before we decided to change…read moreschools. At first she didn't want to leave her previous school (but i wasn't happy with the lack of growth) so we spent several months trying different schools in the area, as transition is hard. After taking just one class at Morning Star, she said "mom that was the hardest class I've ever taken, I want him (Mr Chen) to train me". We have been there for a little over a year now, and I have seen so much development from her. What she loved is that she gets detailed instructions on what she needed to work on, exercise and stretches that would help develop, the under develop parts of her body, something she wasn't getting at any of the previous schools. She also loved the level of discipline, she felt that all the dancers took the craft seriously. I as a working mom love the flexibility of the school, Instructors allow students to come in and do additional work outside of class time. This along with training alongside girls above her level is something that has aided in my daughter's development. Although smaller than most "fancier" schools in the area and the school we came from, after spending time at just about all of them. I have to say, Morning Star has the best ballet training of all the schools in the area. I would recommend this school to any SERIOUS dancer, because it is intense.

The teachers are well trained and very personable and nice. I'd also like to comment about the last review. The recital was not at all tacky, it was very nice, especially for the money charged to put it on. Each dancer received two-three free tickets and any additional tickets were only five dollars. And have you ever tried to teach a 3 YO a 2.5 minute dance? Of course the teacher had to lead the kids on stage. Did this parent expect their child to be ready for the New York City Ballet? I've spent a significant amount of time there and would be extremely surprised if anyone was treated without kindness and respect. I would highly recommend this studio for anyone wanting to take dance or performing arts classes in a professional yet welcoming and nurturing environment.

My 3 year old had fun, but she did not realize that her class was consistently starting late and ending early, their recital, which started 15 minutes late, was so tacky we were embarrassed to have invited our family and friends, and they essentially played follow the leader with their teacher for 2 minutes and 15 seconds. They took measurements and photos during class time that we paid for, which is a conflict of interests at best and a disservice to my child who came ready to dance and ended up sitting by the wall for an hour, only to find that the pictures were of such poor quality that we will how have to take our own time and additional money to have them re-made. When you go into dance with your child, you have to expect that it will be expensive, but this place is a money pit and you definitely do not get what you pay for.

I was told 300 and called them up to confirm and for an explanation of what to expect. The not so friendly Renee told me the 300.00 included 1 month of lessons for 45 mins each and 1/week reherersal. Fine. How do I pay I asked? "Ummmm..... well you can just send me your info in an emai.....l I guess....."WTF? okay..... No thanks, I will just pay in person when I come. When I arrived Renee wasn't there and apparently neither was anyone else who could process my payment. Not only that -they were not ready for my daughter either and suggested that I take off and that she "hang out" there for about an hour and half with them. She's 8!! ok...... Surely they mean that there are some other kids perhaps in the same situation and they have some activities planned for them or something along those lines. I quickly figured out that was not the case as I watched the instructors skip out to lunch. Since no else said anything else to me I decided to sit and wait with my daughter until they returned and made time for her....A few days later I checked my bank account only to find that school of rock had charged me double. #$%^&*(. And when I called and spoke with the owners Mike and Renee, they cheerfully responded with sarcasm and reassured me again that "WE DONT GIVE A SHIT!!!!!" AND just to make sure that I got the message Mike sent me a cheerful email..with all exclaimation points..that he PERSONALLY DOESN"T GIVE 2 SHITS!!! . My next issue with these assclowns. After talking to my daughter I realized she was not receiving the private lessons I was paying for....so I emailed the owners. Who again treated me with zero respect. Ok, i get it. You are in a prime buckhead location, making money hand over fist and DONT GIVE A SHIT but really...that's just not cool. I emailed Mike AGAIN for my refund and this time he didn't respond with all all excamation points!! hey! Christina! We don't give a shit!!! So maybe I will get my well deserved refund. In the meantime, all the instructors seem nice and my mini me likes coming here..which makes the fact that owners don't care about customer service all the more incredibly frustating.
