reviews 4 minutes ago New My daughter takes 12:30pm class on Saturday and this past Saturday 1/31,/26 she got hurt by a piece of 3" long and thin wood stick from the floor, and got a long scratch and bled on the front calf of the left leg. Ms Jasmine was nice and caring and gave bandages for her wound. Today we found out a small piece of wood still left in her front calf. This concerns us. I wrote an email to notice the manager about the dance floor being old and having some cracks and hope they can do something to fix the floor. I do not wish this happens to any kids again. The studio is beautiful and conveniently located in the heart of Park Slope, and the classes, while varying in size, are generally small (we've never had a class with more than 8 kids). Randomly throughout the week you can hear my daughter say "thank you for the music"... "thank you for the dancing"... (and whispers) "thank you for the magic". If you know tutu, these are our "Thank You's" that we say at the end of every class. My daughter loves her intro to ballet class and learns so much. She is picking up life long lessons and developing her gross motor skills. Being that she is only 2.5 years old, this is perfect and extremely fun! She is known for being the most vocal as she shows her excitement. My daughter has gone to two in-person classes and loves it! The studio is super clean and they are taking all Covid precautions (dance bubbles, masks, small class etc.). My 3.5 year old daughter started attending in person classes at Tutu School Park Slope 2 months ago, and we absolutely love it. My daughter counts down the days until dance class all week long! Ms. Kerri makes the class so much fun and education - they learn all about ballet while playing make believe. Not only is she learning real ballet technique and vocabulary, but they learn about famous ballets through story-telling (and coloring!). The studio is extremely clean and follows strict covid safety precautions (temp checks, sanitizing between classes, and social distancing during class). We just started at the TuTu School about a month ago and my 3 year old loves it!! The teachers are all so patient and kind with the girls. My daughter is so exciting with her ballet class and the teacher are staff are great.

Our 2.5 year old participated in the Tutu Toddler classes here earlier this year (Spring 2021). No issues with the space itself- very clean and organized, with nice teachers. We found the class format far too restrictive for our 2 year old, however. Children are expected to participate in dance only when it is their turn and must remain standing on their dot, in their "ballet bubble" until that time. Any outbursts, whether it be singing, talking, or dancing around outside of their turn are frowned upon. This absolutely did not work for our happy, excited, social daughter - nor would I expect it to work for children so young. Just be warned if you have a very young child, or one who is more outgoing or excitable, then these classes may not be a good fit. We have found other classes that encourage and revel in our child's participation in all its forms. read more

My 5 year old daughter has LOVED taking dance classes at Tutu School for the past 4 months. The classes teach her some basic ballet moves but they also play fun games and sometimes even do an art activity related to a particular ballet that they are learning about. Her teacher, Ms. Gen, is so warm, friendly, fun and energetic. The studio is very clean and has excellent health and safety measures such as temperature checks, mandated mask-wearing and separate spots for each child to leave her belongings. My 5 1/2 year old starting doing Tutu School's streamed ballet classes 3 months ago and loves them so much; before they even opened the beautiful new studio in our neighborhood, her curiosity was sparked. Since we opted for the virtual classes, we weren't quite sure how much she would learn without in person instruction; however, we have been pleasantly surprised by her knowledge of the positions and enjoyment of the classes. She dresses up for all her classes, loves the music they play, enjoys hearing different stories each week, and especially loves showing off all her moves after class. As a parent, I think the teachers at Tutu School have a wonderful way of connecting to the students as they present all instruction in a fun, loving, and calm way that keeps the students' attention; they also have weekly themes to keep the students engaged.
