You can even see the note on the receipt about the vents being dirty... that is what they are being paid for... why write it down? Anyways long story short my mom was charged $1200 for her ducts and sanitizing for her 700 sq ft duplex. I was reminded about what happened as I just had the ducts done in my 1000sq ft home.... Even had microbial sanitizing and dryer vents done.... Final balance of the company I sued? $300. This company scams people regularly and they don't care... check out the Google reviews. I was not home at the time and the technician confused my wife with the need for more services. These "services" took 10 minutes to do and ended up costing close to $700. I came home in time to prevent a further $500 for disinfecting which would have been another scam. We've had our system cleaned many times by other companies and have never experienced this.

The quote also included warranty (5/10 years for service/parts), which was great. Install team came, they were professional and on time and did clean work, but at the end they mentioned the warranties were only valid if I paid for an annual inspection - something not at all mentioned in the quote I had in writing. Also not something ever mentioned to the family member who had Lynn's do their furnace a year before mine. I tried to contact them to clarify, had to call multiple times to get them to phone be, their HVAC guy eventually called me, said he'd look into it further, and then never contacted me again. On top of that I discovered a month later that when they reinstalled my condensate pump they ran the hose too short so it was leaking all over my floor and into the base of the furnace (no damage done luckily). Fixed it myself. Would not recommend them.

I had been using Winnipeg Supply for my heating and cooling needs for 14 years…read more Yes I knew that they were expensive, but I thought that I was generally getting good value for the money. The techs for the most part were courteous and the office staff (which used to be based out of the US) were very efficient and always called me to remind me about my upcoming service, and to tell me if the techs were going to be on time etc. I noticed that things started to slowly change over the years. When I was sold my high efficiency Lennox I was told that the filters only needed to be changed yearly. They are the very large 16 X 25 X 5 type which are also quite expensive. Over the years they changed their tune telling me that they needed to be changed every 6 months. I do not believe this to be true. On March 30th 2014 tech # 1146 visited my home to do my annual AC tune up. He went on to tell me how the refrigerant in my AC is illegal and that I should change out my 11 year old unit ASAP. He kept insisting that the unit was old and I would be lucky if it made it another month. I bit my tongue and thought well it is just my AC if it goes out, it goes out I will deal with it when it conks out. My unit ran flawlessly that Summer, and the next spring when I had my usual tech out #2020, he did not say a thing regarding my AC and it's condition after servicing it. Strange because last Spring it was about to die according to the other tech. The spring after that my usual tech 2020 advised that fan motor was going and that I should replace the unit immediately. He said a fan replacement would be over $1,500.00 and that it would not be money well spent. I looked on line and the price of a fan for my particular unit is about $350.00. Installation is about 30 min or less (I watched a youtube video on how to do it) so I have no idea how this could come to $1,500.00. Again I did not listen to him or the sales person that he arranged to immediately come out. Stephen came out that spring and gave me pricing for a new AC. $4,500, $5,000, or top of the line for $5,900 all prices plus tax. These prices were quite high with other smaller companies charging around $3,000.00. I also wonder why anyone would want to purchase a top of the line unit (high efficiency) as according to MB Hydro the difference in your electricity bill would only be about $20.00 year. You would never see a pay off on that investment. Stephen failed to mention that to me. Well now it is fall November 2017, 4 entire hot sticky Winnipeg Summers have passed, and guess what. My AC is still working. I have decided to move on from Winnipeg Supply "The service experts". When my AC needs to be replaced I will have someone else do it.

This morning we had no hot water. Tried to light the pilot but couldn't seem to do so and the LED seemed to indicate a problem. So I gave them a call. The very polite gentleman gave me excellent instructions on the correct way to light the pilot as well as the likely causes of the fault. 5 minutes later, the heater is back to heating water. Tradesman's prices were much higher to start and after negotiating, Shorty's gave me a discount. CanPro tried to sell me an oversized furnace (80K instead of 60K, which is what I needed) and said that their "standard" furnace was as good as a "premium" which my research doesn't suggest. The gent who came out (Thomas) told me everything I needed to know and was thorough. Tradesman and CanPro were less so. No problems with the company/payment. Installers (2 plumbers for the tank, 2 for the furnace) were pleasant, professional, efficient and helpful. No hesitation recommending Shorty's. Local business!
