We are very thankful we pulled our children away from this Pseudo Jewish School, it caters to non-Jewish people who are not interested in Judaism, only focuses on admissions to hyper competitive colleges. If a TVT student gets behind, he or she loses Judaic Studies to keep up with hyper competitive children. Administrators do not take Jewish children as priority, in fact, more than half students there are not Jewish, it is a misrepresentation to call this a Jewish school, celebrating other culture's holiday months long opposed to one day, check out their auditorium wall in February and on. The over offered non-Kosher food selections. Needless to say more, beware! read more

Excellent school. My daughter has been attending TVT since 2d grade and she loves it. The learning center is outstanding and helps her plan and organize her schoolwork and homework. Small class sizes are critical to her success. Very strong English, math and science program. read more

After 3 students 33 tuition paid years later,I can say with certainty this is the best investment a parent can make for their child. The school admin and teachers are invested in your child becoming successful (whatever their ability level) while maintaining their happiness and fostering independence and resiliency. Our oldest finished 14 AP's while having time to be in clubs and play sports. He graduated Stanford with 2 degrees and is a successful attorney in Washington DC area. Our middle child on the autistic spectrum thrived at TVT now has received a USC degree in 3 years and Georgia tech analytics masters degree. Youngest received a large merit scholarship U Miami and is doing well academically and socially. All learned how to successfully interact with adults thanks to TVT middle and high school in particular. 2 of the 3 became leaders on their undergrad campuses thanks to the confidence they gained at TVT. Compared to the good public school options and other private schools in OC, I think the academic and easy ability for extracurricular balance is outstanding at TVT. Perhaps the greatest "value" of the school is that the friendships that are formed here are seemingly lifelong with classmates. Thank you TVT! read more

TVT expects your child to be at the exact level as all the kids. You are competing with kids that are tutored. They also treat them like robots. They label... if you have an exceptional child that is tutored... good! If you are like me and expect the school you PAY to teach your child, do NOT enroll here. The teachers are amazing but the administration team has lost the core values of the school. If the current administration and new principal is left in place, I am concerned that many of what makes TVT great will be lost. One of my favorite quotes states "I do not want followers who are righteous, rather I want followers who are too busy doing good that they won't have time to do bad." - Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Kotzk. If administration would focus on doing good instead of acting righteous, the school would warrant all 5 stars. read more

I went to TVT for high school and graduated this past May. My parents gave me the choice to choose between TVT and the public school near my house. I chose TVT for a number of reasons. First, I would be with fellow Jews. That was really big for me. Most public schools near my house have 1/1000 Jews in the school. Being with other Jews at TVT really gave you a great community and everyone really cared about each other. Also, I was able to play volleyball. I never played club volleyball, so I knew I wouldn't be able to play in public school. Everyone can play sports at TVT and in fact, our sports teams are very good. The teacher student relationships are amazing. Although teachers choose favorites, they still care about the others who are not on the top of their list. If a kid is having a bad day, teachers will notice and try to help if they can. They almost treat you like you are their own kids and want to help you succeed in everything you do. The academics are very good and the teachers really prepare you for the Ap tests, which is important for college. The one downside about TVT is the politics. Teachers choose favorites and it is not always clear what is expected of the students. Different students will get punished differently for the same offense. There is no consistency. TVT is also very top-heavy, meaning there is a very large administration. When I would walk into the office I would feel uncomfortable because it was the one part of the school that was not personal. I think that students should know who the people are that are making the decisions for the school. Overall I enjoyed my experience at TVT. As a junior you get to take a trip to Poland and Israel, where you get to bond with your grade and fellow classmates. That trip was life changing. I always felt comfortable walking down the halls of TVT and always felt welcomed by everyone. I feel that TVT made me more prepared for the outside world and taught me how to talk to people, especially teachers, which is good for college. read more

I have nothing but positive things to say about the the lower school @ TVT! The teachers & staff are so supportive & loving and make you feel like your part of a family! The campus is beyond impressive. It's absolutely beautiful and everything is state of the art! 5 years of growth and love for this school and I feel so grateful to have all 3 of my children here. Our son started attending Tarbut in 6th grade. He made friends immediately. We love the families that we have gotten to know. The school itself is so modern, well equipped, and has great administration and teachers. We appreciate how the staff and teachers have worked with our son and with us. Coming from a public school background, we were surprised when we asked about ways to give our son the best opportunity for success and all of the teachers came to a joint conference. Really an amazing and rewarding experience. Even though we live in Long Beach (there is a school van from here!) we believe this school will be ideal all the way through high school. Anyone looking for an outstanding school that operates with Jewish values should seriously consider TVT. TVT is not a religious school--meaning it is not Torah and prayer focused. It is an academic oriented school. There is a nice mix of Judaic study along with strong fundamentals, and an interesting mix of electives (from our middle school perspective). There are plenty of opportunities to join sports teams. Our son played football and soccer this year. read more

My Daughters started TVT in Kindergarten and both have had an amazing experiences to date. We originally thought we would just do Kindergarten and transfer to a public school as OC school only offered 1/2 day kindergarten. Once we started our first daughter at TVT we knew we could go nowhere else. Each year the girls have had an amazing experience with excellent teacher that help them soar. We too also have a drive from N. Orange County, but there has not been a day when the girls have complained about waking up early to attend school. They thrive in TVT's academically and Judaic rich environment that helps them achieve academic success but also reinforces our family's Jewish values and help them to be a "mench". Our girls are receiving an excellent education where they are becoming critical thinkers. TVT offers an amazing lesson plan which provides the children not only the basics (reading, writing, arthritic, social studies) but also includes as part of their curriculum from kindergarten, a robust science program, music, art, computers, foreign language, and Jewish Studies. We have one more child who joined the TVT family in 2012 when she started kindergarten and I am confident that her experience at TVT will be the same as her siblings. TVT's kindergarten set the stage for children to have a passion for learning that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. We have two children attending TVT in first grade and kindergarten, and we are thrilled with this school! TVT offers an incredibly enriched program and a whole-child approach, along with a warm, compassionate environment, that makes this school truly outstanding. TVT instills in its students caring about the larger world and those around us right from the start and teaches excellent values. Children learn that they can make a difference in the world starting in kindergarten. My children are enjoying learning and feel empowered to reach their potential and express themselves creatively and uniquely. The TVT Staff find the joy and gifts of each child and work beautifully with the children and their families to bring out the best in each child. TVT uses many modes for teaching, most of which are very hands on, and offers an excellent academic curriculum. The class sizes are small, allowing the teachers to give each child plenty of attention and truly get to know each child. Our teachers have been outstanding, and the children have wonderful friends at school. The teaching Staff and Administration are easy to communicate with and have a refreshing "'partnering" attitude with families with respect to educating the children. The Art and Music programs are truly phenomenal, and the PE programs are also top-notch. Playground time is also very well supervised, and the children can play a variety of fun games during recess or just play freely. There are plenty of opportunities for parent involvement on campus, for those that have time or wish to participate in this way. The Hebrew/Judaica program is amazing, as well. The children are immersed in the Jewish culture and language; and the program is taught in a fun, loving, and age-appropriate way. As an alumnus of the class of 2009, I look back on my 13 years at TVT with a sense of eternal gratitude for the teachers, administrators, staff and life long friends I made at this school. TVT truly became a second home to me, a place I grew up surrounded by people who forever positively impacted my life. Even though 5 years have passed since graduating, some of my closest friendships and professional relationships have their roots in Tarbut. For me, the community of exceptional people speaks volumes about why every Jewish child in Orange County would be fortunate to experience a TVT education. The curricular and extracurricular opportunities positioned me for success far beyond my developmental years. Whether it was inside the classroom, participation in clubs like ASB and Mock Trial or service trips to New Orleans and Kenya, TVT instilled in me a sense of discipline, a powerful work ethic and strong Jewish values that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. We have kids at Tarbut. Its a terrific school. The teachers are excellent, the curriculum is solid and the kids are very nice. Dont let the name scare you- this is not a religious school. They do study Hebrew and Jewish studies, but the emphasis is on a solid secular education. Graduates get into top schools, while the lower school is very warm and loving. TVT is a wonderful school. My daughters currently only went there for their middle school experience but my son went from kindergarden to become a senior. He loved TVT so much. On his first day of school it made me cry so much he came home with this big smile on his face saying "Mommy guess what I made some friends." When I told my husband that night he was crying and so was I. My son has a disability and not that many people want to be his friend but Charles did. The staff was very kind to my son and now my son is going to USC! TVT IS AN AMAZING SCHOOL IT IS WORTH THE MONEY! read more

My son has been going to Tarbut for 2 years. There is nothing bad I can say about this school. The teachers there are very nurturing and caring. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The school really focus on academic. When my son finished his Kindergarten and he was preparing to go to 1st Grade, I had him tested to see if he needs help before entering 1st Grade because we were traveling a lot while he was in Kindergarten, his reading was at 2nd grade level and so was his math. They really exceeded their own standard. I like the values and morals that my son is being taught as well not just academics. I have received a lot of compliments from relatives and friends about my son's characters, which is really nice to hear. Some of my friends, who are not Jewish and saw how well-rounded my son has developed, decided to take their children out of either public schools or even a Christian private school to go to Tarbut. My son is very happy there and so are we. We are not that wealthy and do make sacrifices to be able to send our son there, but we really think that it is worth it. read more
