I was a florist for several years; I feel really good about being able to give flowers that are grown right here in Ulster County (instead of miles away in South America, where the water being used to grow the flowers has been diverted from aquifers that people rely on for drinking water), and I'm happy to be able to support a local business person, Marybeth, who is a careful steward the land. I notice, too, that her flowers last longer than the ones shipped from afar. Her flower choices and color combinations are natural and gorgeous. I highly recommend seeking her out if you need flowers for any occasion.

Also some stems were not in blossom yet. Who does that? By the time they open, if they do, the rest of the flowers are dying out. Sent photos to the owner - she blamed it on the car ride over said it wasn't her responsibility. LOL. Okay so no more to say to her. That's why, for whatever it is worth, I write my review. My opinion, but others need to know. Do these flowers look like they are worth $120? Look how empty this arrangement is on one side. I don't recommend this shop. Sorry. There are many other florists to choose from that won't do such things.

I contacted these folks about doing some wedding flowers for my daughters wedding. They, at first…read moreagreed to help me, but their minimum was double the normal cost of the flowers for a small wedding. We decided to add some arrangements, so as to order enough flowers to reach their minimum. However, when I inquired about an actual meeting to discuss, they quickly back peddled. I got the feeling that they were willing to help only if they could overcharge me for the service. This seems very unethical to me. I wish they had simply said they were too busy right away instead of wasting my time. I would steer clear of these folks, if you value honesty and integrity.

A delightful independent bookstore located at the western end of Rosendale's burgeoning Main Street…read moredistrict, within sight of the trestle. There's a warm and inviting vibe as you enter, and a terrific and varied assortment of books displayed nicely throughout. Additional merchandise includes flowers and other interesting gifts. (Miniature garden kits, for instance, when we were there.) And if you're lucky, you can meet the resident "grumpy" cat, Rudie. If you're up for the weekend, it's a great place to find an interesting read, along with some flowers, and certainly a must-visit on your next stop through Rosendale. I'll be interested to see if Postmark Books reminds anyone else, in its own fresh way, of the London Review of Books Store (in London, of course). Oh, and there's an equally amazing tea shop right across the street. How perfect is that?

If the flowers on your wedding day are something you are looking forward to, beware of this…read moreflorist. We hired Hedge for our wedding and found ourselves disappointed at every turn. Sadly, they made so many substitutions without consulting us and there were even instances where arrangements fell apart. During our consultation and correspondence prior to our wedding they were very warm and assured us that they would be able to provide us with the flowers (many for sentimental reasons) we requested. When our wedding day came, we thought they were bringing in flowers for another wedding by mistake. Per the suggestion of our wedding venue (who was also disappointed to see what Hedge produced for us...it was really bad) we requested a partial refund for the arrangements that fell apart and extreme substitutions they made. Sadly, they declined to do the correct thing. Hedge proved to be an untrustworthy vendor that would say anything just to get our business. They showed us that they do not care about their client's requests and wishes for their special day, only their questionable aesthetic and your hard earned money in their pocket (that they will gladly keep even after providing a terrible service.) Stay away from this vendor.
